  1. Very tough on those who stuck with rangers through their bad times ( quite a while now). Still plastics can get in at Fulham for under £400. tHere is a point where football, however much you love it, just isn't worth the money.most games just aren't worth £30. £30 is a lot of beer/wine/cd's/food.
  2. renewals: Fulham from £329 wBA £399 villa From £360, Holte end £405
  3. my exectation is that prices will be very high if we get bak to the PL. But the truth is that ticket prices do NOT have to be sky high for a club to stay in, and be successful in the PL. fulhams prices are not at all unreasonable (by english football standards), especially given their location..and they are also presumably run as a business. In the PL ticket income is a pretty small part of total income. it really does make business sense to keep ticket prices reasonable. clubs need to keep new fans coming in, and they need to keep the hard core loyal...because bad times are always just around the corner.
  4. well i hope that if we get back to the PL, the club are able to find a way of applying your principles to those who deserted the club in 2005, and rewarding those who have shelled out their hard earned through the days of the dutch experiment, lowes return, and the drop to L1. its quite possible to survive in the PL on sensible ST prices...just check fulham or west broms prices.
  5. there should be three up and three down from L2/conference. it is ridiculous that Luton are in the conference.
  6. average attendance in our CCC playoff season was 23500. There will be lots of spare capacity, even if we are doing well. ST and matchday prices all depend on what business model the club is using. I would hope that they reintroduce membership , so that loyal supporters who don't have a ST have a chance of getting the tickets for popular games, and that the club explain to the fans how and why they are pricing tickets.( including the tax, installments etc). THink most of us accept we will have to pay for success.
  7. there are interesting ideas around concerning conciousness. "punk science" is by mManjir Samanta Laughton is a really good read for those with an interest in this stuff, and an open mind. It certainly shows how science and some kinds of "belief" might co exist.
  8. if their owners have to find £40m in loans to keep them afloat
  9. the idea that stoneham had good transport links is false. It is MUCH quicker to get away from SMS for most people than it ever would have been from stoneham. Stoneham relied on two exits from car parks onto the M27....it would have taken hours to get out. Other than that , the options are about the same...walk to the railway station at either ground, or walk to your car. stoneham would have been a shorter cab ride to the airport for a few people. city centre grounds provide the best transport, because they are nearest to, and can offer, the widest transport options.
  10. I am pretty sceptical about expansion. i never had a ST at SMS when we were in the PL....and I never missed a game because i couldn't buy a ticket. The closest i came to missing out was a game against Chelsea which sold out by lunchtime on the first day of sales. For most matches there were tickets easily available. if a modest expansion, say to 36k , could be done easily and cheaply then do it.if not, I would leave well alone, and make sure there is a sensible cap on ST numbers, should we get back to the PL. Unless NC is planning to bankroll champions league football. But I don't see that somehow.
  11. quite. arsenal trophyless since their move..
  12. if its on the news i tend to think 1. Who wants me to believe this? 2. Is it true? EG. the stuff about 1/4 of kids being born living to 100 years. The DWP want us to believe this...and its unlikely (VERY) to be true. Bin laden. Been dead for years.... Just been killed.... never existed....who knows? What I know is the American government( and our lot) want us to think he has just been killed. Which is reason enough to be sceptical.
  13. I had a nice day doing things I wanted to do. I didn't spend it watching other (over privileged)people doing things that they enjoy doing.(which seems to be mostly flaunting their wealth and "status").
  14. If we got rid of our monarchy, aristocracy, and their heredity wealth and privilege, we could have a country where everyone could expect decent housing, healthcare and employment prospects. At the moment, all the good stuff gets handed down to those on the privileged inside track. The current prime minister epitomises this system.
  15. if so, lets hope its not our players that get in hot water.
  16. really sad news, somehow very shocking. Back in those heady days, "Identity" was one of my favourites....she really WAS one of the good guys, talking and writing about subjects nobody else was covering. never saw X ray Spex, and wish I had. The world needs more people like her.
  17. Traffic problems possible M3 Southbound from J12/13 according to BBC at 12.30, due to crash
  18. If we have to have playoffs, the team finishing 3rd should go straight to the final. Anyway, hope we go up automatically and town win the playoffs, as they have had a fantastic run...and most mrs teamsaint's family are from there. Also, town are below their "proper" level in L1.
  19. tHing was in 78, bha didn't go up because they didnt get enough points. We needed 1 point on the last day to be absolutely sure of promotion as did spurs.we drew 0-0 Although we did hit the post, which is clever if you are happy with a draw.
  20. We have a very nice, and suitably sized stadium. Falmer may well be fabulous. darlington have a 25000 seater. brighton won the league. We hope to come second, which would be just great. We would have settled for this at the start of the season.(me anyway). i am hoping for a nice trip down to see the amex next season.
  21. or the neil Heaney "sweeney " song.
  22. brighton Saints games used to have a fair back of edge around 1980...partly from our side because we never got to play poopey very often. All adds to the fun. No doubt there are a few internet warriors down there who have it in for us..they are the ones with the issues. The true albion fans who have stuck by their team through some lousy years deserve a better future...and to enjoy this season's success. If there are those at the withdean who couldn't figure that NA's comments were indeed somewhat tongue in cheek, and perhaps in hindsight al little misjudged, then that is their problem. He was in fact very quick to congratulate them on their promotion. Having NA as a hate figure does strike me as a little odd.He isn't really the best candidate around in my view !
  23. be nice to end their unbeaten home record......
  24. give that our last game is, on paper, one of the more winnable ones, its likely to go to the last game. just for the sake of argument after 45 games it might look like this Saints 84 hudds 82 posh 83 leaving us to beat Walsall to go up. Even if posh drop 2 points before the last day, we still need a draw to go up. And thats if we win 3 and draw one of the next 5. Statistically, we seem unlikely to get second by more than 3 points, so last day drama looks nailed on. If things go really sweetly we might clinch it at plymuff...but I think tix to the Walsall game are needed!!
