i know who is more likely to tell me a pack of lies out of the american or british government and maud dib...and its not the recently released film maker. Governments give us endless unjustified wars, against nebulous enemies(1984 anyone?). The US government sent tens of thousands of its own young men to die in Vietnam...they really don't care who gets in the way of their plans. Things are turning nasty in the world, and we are very very foolish if we turn a blind eye to the outrages perpetrated by those at the top. The government has NEVER tried to clear up what happened on 7/7.....and the allegations against the "bombers" are based on wafer thin evidence at best. Its time for ordinary people to stop buying into the madness our governments give us, and to start demanding things like housing at prices we can afford, food and water for the worlds population, an end to arms sales to despotic , violent governments, an end to reliance on american and middle eastern oil interests, just for starters. The people at the top brought you WW1.....and they continue to treat the worlds population like cattle. oh, and if you want to see lies in action, just look back at the news coverage of Fukushima.

Standing is fine at standing prices !!

Haven't seen Saints play like that in many a year. Cork was outstanding, moves the ball with the speed and accuracy of a quality PL player, and is clearly making a huge difference. Would love to know how many passes that incredible move was. Negatives(sorry!) . We should have buried them, and nearly paid the price. chap being a chump. He is too good a player to need to behave like that. Oh, and in response to the post up the board, you can sing and support your team just as well sitting down as standing up. I personally resent being forced to stand to watch a game of football that has cost a great deal of money and time.

i like the way NC is running the football. i don't like the way he deals with the (long suffering)supporters, the people who actually keep the club going.

just a question why don't all the pampered rich elites take to the streets , rioting and looting, if its such fun? As for the police being too scared to act for fear of enquiries etc, it doesn't seem to bother them at football matches. What looters and rioters are doing is wrong. The way that our society is run for the benefit of just a few, at the expense of the many, is unforgivable.

anyone know for definite whether you can buy tickets on the day?

shame, but hand on heart, if you were AOC or skate dad, what would you do? and I am all for skate bashing, but we might have been looking at the few having £15m to spend on new fans if skate dad had sent him to the poopey academy, wherever that is. if we can't make this deal work for us, then that is our fault.

had to lie down on the SMS concrete that night to get my hernia to go back in !! Happy days. thanks for the great service , NHS/government !! not my best day at the footy. Best moment for me at SMS, probably the second goal in the wolves cup game.

I would just like to say that if a business wants people to pay up around £25 around 20 times a season, for a product that is uncertain and variable in quality, it ought to look to make the process as painless as possible. the current model of charges really puts me off buying...because it feels like I am being taken for granted. and I don't like that. Look at something in comparison. amazon will send you anything over £5 postage free..and in a nice sturdy little box, with a polite return note. Seems to work well enough as a business model. Though of course you should try to use you local independent store where possible !!

average in our playoff season was 23500. The Leeds game was over 30k, but it was a decisive match. Its holiday time, prices have gone up, and championship football just isn't a huge draw. If you want big gates every week, sell lots of STs..ask Norwich or Derby.

How many people have moved ST seats this season?

or you could see some really excellent bands at the brook, for around £15/£20, and see the Saints from time to time, including cork, De ridder etc, and still not spend more than the cost of a ST. Not difficult. The price is higher this year, and if we get back to the PL the prices will absolutely rocket. -

good point. and, as a rule, £16 is better spent on a concert. A decent number of matches are disappointing or instantly forgettable, most concerts (if you choose carefully) are memorable experiences. For many people it really is a question of financial priority. even at £16 a game(if you get to every game) that's couple of decent CDs or a reasonable gig... championship football will be more attractive than L1, but it wasn't attractive enough to entice more than 23500 each match even in a decent playoff season..... i have also given up my ST, because I feel like I am being taken for granted by the club, and becuase I can live without seeing every moment of every home game, even though I love being there. -
on the attendances, its hard to imagine that in our last season in the championship that anybody much was there because of the shiny newish stadium. Yet our average was well above poopeys for last season.

it should be a rule that our second kit is always yellow and blue, and the third kit can be any old thing.

there a lot of silly prices being quoted. Unless NC is in a really big hurry to get promotion, and the 5 year plan doesn't suggest that he is, we would be better advised to pick up good players at sensible prices when we can,and building more slowly £3m is a LOT of money for a club that is probably turning over no more than £15m PA
-
when we reached the playoffs, with a team that was expected to do well , we averaged 23500. i think the average will be a little higher this time, if we are doing ok, but in the championship 25000 average for us would be good going. As other have said, a really big average has to be based on really big ST sales, and this isn't going to happen, as the club clrearly aren't that keen to push ST sales.

one day we will all wake up to the carnage that big money is causing in our world, and start to put right the wrongs. Until then we will have apologists for the banks and their friends in government. Oh and don't get me started on the various wars we are fighting and funding for the benefit of the arms industry. Time to wake up.

If staying in Fort William I would certainly do the train trip out to rannoch if you like peace and quiet. Rannoch station is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, and popular with walkers etc, i think. Nice train ride through the country, (3 per day each way i think), and very odd to get off at a station where, if memory serves, there is just one hotel and nothing else. All rather Victorian. Seem to remember mallaig is a quiet fishing port type place if you fancy a stroll round a small town, and a train ride north. and I do know, for a certain fact, that you cannot buy a Saints away shirt in fort William !!
-
but last time we had a good season in the championship(playoff season), we averaged 23500. Which is more than 8000 empty seats most weeks. given that a lot of kids tickets are highly discounted or free, there are already are, and will be a lot of seats not generating much income this season. current policy, in my view, is to maximise potential income with new ST purchases and match day tickets both now, and more importantly, if we get promoted. You cannot fill a 32k stadium every week, in somewhere like southampton at "full" price in the NPC.There is over supply of seats. The end
-
well maybe..but after you gave up your ST we had 10 years of Pl football, a really good team that got to the cup final , and a new stadium to move to along the way , so some might say your decision might not have been the best. if NC is really drawing £1.2 m pa( probably equivalent to around £75 per ST) whilst putting ST prices up substantially...well thats hardly putting the fans first, is it?
-
people at the top are always immensely talented and irreplaceable. People like the bankers who caused a worldwide recession, rupert lowe, and all the others. NC may be tough talking, and we are all hugely grateful to him for saving the club. Its his toy, but £1.2 m is one hell of a lot of season tickets...and most of us have been supporting(financially) this club for a very long time, and no doubt will be long after the current people in charge are long gone.(Wonder if NC knows who Ian Branfoot is, or has any idea what it is like to PAY to stand on an open terrace watching a branfoot team on an off day!) With access to the resources he has had, it really wouldn't take a genius to get SFC out of L1....though credit for a job done. I work too long and hard , and under too much real stress to do things like pay a mortgage and put food on the table, to subsidise the lifestyles of the very rich without serious thought.
-
seriously, though, if the club really want people (customers) to stump up hundreds or thousands of pounds a year, in a tough economic situation, and for a product as unreliable as football, you might think that they would make the effort to appear to look after their core customer base. In my opinion they give the impression of taking their customers for granted, and of hoping that more, wealthier customers flock back if we get back to the PL.Which of course they will.If we do.
-
a big publicity stunt by both sides to get cash out of the press.
-
i know this has been done to death, but if the club really think that they can make more money on walk ups than on STs they are just wrong.

I went to one about 20 years ago. it certainly gives you a little extra insight into spanish culture, not least its hierarchies, and the general distaste for the Guardia Civil. For all that it gives you an insight, I can't say I would want to go again, or that it makes me think that bloodsports are a good idea. its also a useful addition to reading Hemingway novels......
