  1. Our National anthem is a rubbish tune, with rubbish sentiments. The russian one is a great tune. Actually, the american one is good too.
  2. I think I am right in saying that "How great thou art" was voted most popular hymn by radio Solent listeners. On this occasion solent listeners showed a rare display of musical taste, it being a fine hymn IMO.
  3. they really ought to get membership up and running again. The cost would cover the admin. if this is a way of persuading people to buy STs, its a very odd thing to do, especially since they did very little to encourage sales this year. Incidentally, the failure to sell as many Sts as they might have is hitting attendances.
  4. Anything by Isaac watts does it for me !!
  5. can somebody please remind me how administration is to be funded? The couple of million in the account plus whats left over from the parachute payment? presumably advance ST sales also, plus any cash from ticket sales?
  6. Well perhaps we should meet up sometime Minty !! I am pretty ordinary. ordinary job, ordinary wages, ordinary house, ordinary life. Nothing out of the ordinary !! suits me.
  7. always the ordinary person that gets hit. Ever notice how its "cheap" air travel that they claim is damaging the environment? its not the expensive type that the rich used to enjoy. Same with booze. There is a bad drink culture in this country, but the upper middle classes are as bad as anyone. Doctors have a notoriously high alcoholism rate, something that presumably impacts on their ability to do their jobs.Don't hear much about that particular problem. This is a great scheme to have a pop at ordinary people, and raise tax at the same time. Typical manipulative government.
  8. will the next parachute payment not be used in their submission to get administration, as part of the short term funding?
  9. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/business/local-business/pompey_need_to_pay_1_2m_to_creditors_in_april_1_3334471 Can anyone explain the significance of this? or is it old news? Is gaydamac a secured creditor of the old co? I thought that had been liquidated. Or is the article wrong? o not easy to keep up !!
  10. can someone point me in the direction of the cheap or free tickets please? I wouldn't mind. some. and I see they must have expanded SMS to over 48k capacity since last tuesday.
  11. if Guly is so poor, I am really looking forward to an even better replacement. Guly is a very good, very effective player, who has probably been carrying a knock. He's not perfect, but NA had plenty of options other than to start with him today. Perhaps NA subbed him for tactical or fitness reasons. We have another big game tuesday.
  12. Hammond isn't a clogger. He is a very important player for us as well.
  13. I don't know what the points deduction is for a second administration, but i have a sneaky suspicion that someone within pfc, (maybe lumpitt) has gambled that they can keep the sqaud together , and survive a points deduction of somewhere around 15 points........hence the lack of player sales. of course there are a whole shed load of other factors, but its not impossible. looking at the news, perhaps chanrai has decided that admin is the least expensive option, although the wages bill will hurt if admin lasts more than a few weeks.
  14. well please do provide us with the magic formula that has evaded the last dozen england managers, that will get us winning trophies. And when you have done this, I would copy the FA in. perhaps the reasoning in my post was too sophisticated for you. Lets try again. It doesn't matter who the manager is,england don't succeed in big tournaments.
  15. england have mostly been rubbish as long as anyone can remember. I would save £6m a year, and give it on a part time basis to pretty much anybody with a half decent CV.Southgate would do. or Lawrie. or warnock. or whoever. We would all pick pretty much the same players, and english players love 4-4-2. easy and cheap, and no more likely to fail than sven or fabios "systems".
  16. there are of course, some parachute payments to come. (not sure if anybody knows how much). I did wonder if somewhere in this heap of debt and intrigue, there was a plan(lumpitt's ?) to keep the current squad in the hope that chanrai would come in to help them avoid liquidation, and that even if they went into admin, the squad was capable of beating the drop with a 10 point deduction. (though they would surely be in for 10 + ? this time)
  17. AA quoted today as saying that liquidation isn't an option. If this is the case, the options left are administration, or an injection of funds? this suggests that administration , again, is the likely outcome. or have i got that wrong?
  18. that will look a decent point in the end. The goals will come back, the wins will return. We went to a big rival that is flying and outplayed them in conditions that we certainly wouldn't have chosen. absolutely awful decisions on foxy's 2 yellows. a good days work overall. Also, to have played Cardiff and brum this week and only conceded one iffy goal is a good sign. stiill in 2nd, got to be happy with that.
  19. genius song, genius lyric. I particularly like this one from the Oysterband: Lyrics to Here comes the flood : factories in the phillipines, cutting holes in brand new jeans, for cutting edge consumers, rich kids in the west you see, they have no sense of irony, and i'm losing my sense of humour, all across the moonlit sky, vapour trails multiply, trade winds are getting stronger, while he says she has to chill, they bring us apples from brazil, new diseases from the congo, (chorus) i havent prayed since god knows when, my teeth are un-american, socialism's orphan child, unimpressed, unreconciled some people think im crazy.... but im not here comes the flood x 2 a million tv dishes crown the skyline of shanty town, everywhere our apsiration, the word from cnn arives, we watched the headlines of our lives, each movement in isolation, the cool blue line of isolation... (chorus) democracy for planet earth, they roll it out like astroturf, easy men theyre all in a hurry, so you can wear a stupid grin, watch em roll the bankers in, only the bad guys amongst us need to worry...... Also great: Man in the Corner shop by the Jam and The Colours by Hampshire's finest, The Men They Couldn't Hang.
  20. since they can't pay any of their financial obligations of any note, as they fall due, it's safe to say they are trading while insolvent, isn't it?
  21. THere was an implied suggestion that we might want the few to join us as ST holders if they go pop !! Now that really is offensive.
  22. We are lied to all the time by the authorities.................I would have a very open mind on most issues, as a result. Think Truth movement, not conspiracy.
  23. cheats 3 up.
  24. the portsmouth north mp is an utter dimwit even by tory mp standards. Someone should tell her that killing people is wrong, but killing football clubs that never pay their bills is fine. Even for her it's an easy distinction to make.
  25. yup. Back in the day, before all the competition nonsense, the NHS had administration costs that were the envy of the world. (sub 5%) Not everything was perfect, and there was no doubt plenty of room for efficiencies. These days admin costs are heading remorselessly upwards, and will eventually get close to the US level of around 20 %. Thats progress !! The effective privatisation, driven by US healthcare companies, will just accelerate the process, and quite deliberately. This is what happens when you have half baked , "pretend" competition, and too many snouts in troughs. We need a system based on needs and resources.
