  1. I agree about the Deano and Cork in MF, Cork for me was quite exceptional. Would love to know how many touches he had ! Chappers touch still looks a bit off his very best, but put a great shift in, and is hard to look past for a game as tough as Reading is likely to be. AS for the others, top performances all round. Just two dodgy moments, the shot over the bar just before HT, and the cross from the right late on, but we were in control for most of the 90 mins. Really impressed with the confidence of this performance after a bad day at Blackpool, and a sickener on Saturday. This team really has been a joy to watch for large parts of the season.
  2. If brum win their last 5 ,(which include whu and reading) and a few other things go their way, (such as us beating Reading and reading losing at brighton for starters) they have the slimmest of chances. But I would want at least 200/1 on it !!
  3. WILL be unbearable?! Anyway, nice bank holiday day out up the smoke. Seriously, we are all disappointed about today. but we go into Easter monday 4 points above third, top of the table. A big performance from players and fans and it could be a great day. Sure beats some times I have had following Saints. As above, I would be tempted to give punch a run out.
  4. Just remember, they really, really hate OWTSGMI. Losing to us and hearing that again and again would be very bad for them indeed !!
  5. is Reading sold out?
  6. Billy Sharp will be a really good player for us, and has already made some important positive contributions. Guly IS a really good(and versatile )player for us. If the manager who has kept us , against all expectation, in the top 2 all season , and has us six clear of third with 6 to play, thinks Guly is up to doing a job for us, then its good enough for me. Hopefully in a couple of weeks we can indulge in MB squad selection for next season. Until then, all the players need us 100% behind them. Although I would expect both players to be important members of the squad next season, whichever league we are in.
  7. The Saints song . From around 1973/4?
  8. lancashire has tended to be bad for us over the years , looking way back. And every away game is played on a cow patch !!
  9. we were poor. But miss a pen and an unmarked header away against a decent team, and you are probably going to suffer. i am a lot more worried about our injuries than about losing an away game to a good side. that third goal though......the worst we have done at a corner in a long time.
  10. if labour actually supported working people in their attempts to defend their pay and conditions,(and on other wider issues), they might do a bit better. They are apologists for the banks and the city, and lots of us have had enough of it.
  11. Am I correct in thinking that Bart is now our longest serving player?
  12. I thought leandre Griffit would be a big star for us, especially after he scored against Blackburn. Was pretty chuffed when Burley was appointed manager.(what's he up to now?)
  13. http://www.forestgreenroversfc.com/news/first-team-news/2011/forest-green-unveils-eco-food-for-fans Better choice of food down in the conference it seems !!
  14. Cortese has taken us further than we could have hoped in such a short time, in great style . However, not everything is perfect Cortese does have a habit of letting the club appear not to be be all that bothered about the fans who actually ARE paying most of the wages etc. I would like to see that change. in particular ticketing allocation and sales procedures need to be radically improved. It really is very important.
  15. 5k more.
  16. I have been following Saints since 1970. In all that time , before this season, we have been top of a league, ANY league , for not much more than 2 months, unless I have forgotten something. I am enjoying this, and sad story though 48/49 is, I am certainly not worrying about it. We are far from assured of promotion, but i have NEVER, and I include our greatest managers, had such faith in a Saints manager. Look at the table. Enjoy the quality and the spirit. Let saturday and all the other days take care of themselves. If it all goes well, it will be back to games at daft times most weeks, stupid ticket prices, and a herculean struggle for points every week. I just can't wait for Saturday.
  17. Sharp made the equaliser at Millwall. That was pretty helpful, really !
  18. Or Matt Ritchie, player of the season at Swindon last season. Or marlon pack, running the midfield at high flying cheltenham.
  19. If we had more points we would be further ahead. If we had fewer we would be down the table. Rochdale did the double over us last season.
  20. not a great performance.......but 3 points is all that counts. If NA thinks that Deano is worth a place in the team, if he thinks guly is the Right man for RM, if he wants to rest SRL, if he thinks SDR isn't worth a start, if he thinks the diamond is right for most of the game, if he thinks Lee is worth his place, if he wants us playing posession, or any other thing then its fine by me. Even playing Harding at RB He is a wonderful manager, and I don't think i have ever had such faith in ANY saints manager.
  21. a 1 - 0 win at home to everton in the PL. Luckiest win for us I ever saw.
  22. blimey. mind you, he did a decent job a notts county.
  23. has anyone asked the Fl leaguw what the difference is between exiting admin without a CVA, and fulfilling the requirements of one? I bet the bompey fans would love to know.
  24. sorry if I am behind the curve...........wigley is helping to run the team. Steve Wigley.
  25. The Monkees TV show was one of the highlights of the week back then. As others have said, they made some quality music.......a Monkees "best of" is money well spent. Loads of great songs, "listen to the band" is often on my turntable. They brought a lot of fun into the world. A sad day, today .
