If the club really think they need to spend £15m on a striker to realise their ambitions for next season, then they will , if they can. The ambition is likely another comfortable top half finish, IMO, for which ambition Austin represents a luxury buy. Lambert might fit the bill of a squad player rather well, for a good deal less. Whether Austin is a better player, or SRL would want to fulfill that role, are completely different questions.

For a club outside the top four, and a squad as strong as we have already, a return for SRL would make far more sense than buying Austen for a huge fee.

remind us again where we were in the PL, and our last few results when he was sacked. oh, and a list of any managers, including Saints ,with back to back promotions from L1 to the PL would be a useful resource too.

Would be good to see some attempt by the club to offer some better pricing for younger adults, ( under 25s perhaps)whether cheaper STs, or cheaper match day seats for less attractive fixtures, or whatever. PL prices are a big ask for a lot of youngsters.

used to have Friday night games in the early days of live league and cup football, back in the early 80's. Most memorable games. Saints winning at Blackburn, IIRC , in the cup. a great Ian Rush Hat trick on an ice rink of a pitch at Villa park.
