Loved the way he still managed to come away with the ball when he received a pass and was immediately closed down by three Brighton players by the Itchen touchline in the second half. His close control is exceptional at times. And yes, the time he chased down the ball as Brighton passed it from player to player at the back right across the pitch. I don't think it was Guly that eventually won it back but it was definitely Guly that unsettled them enough for the mistake to happen. The way Saints defend in the opposition's half has been a revelation this season and so much is down to Lallana and Guly running after everything when we lose the ball.

According to the OS a Kudus Oyenuga (triallist) played for the U21s today, 18 year old Spurs forward according to Google (presuming as the song goes there is just one Kudus Oyenuga). Doesn't look like a ready replacement for SRL, at 5'9" and just 18 but you never know.

Can't Get Used To Losing You - The Beat (The Beat covered a few tracks really well) The Bed's Too Big Without You - Sheila Hylton (prefer this to The Police's original by far) Eloise - The Damned (always a great song but this version blows the original away)

Yep everyone heard the Northam break into a 'Jose Fonte baby' just after he totally f^%&d up. A welcome change to when we used to get on the backs of players a few years back - long may it continue.

Lost without football today? Then watch this... Saints 3 - Chelsea 2

2-0 loss and it could have been more, but Charlton had a team of giants out, the pitch wasn't brilliant, it was really windy So it was all a bit kick and rush. Luke Shaw was on the right wing and looked really good, particularly in the second half. Perhaps the position he could be best eased into the first team. -
Same for me 'Groundhog Season'?

3 1/2 in Bickley. One more at my wife's school in croydon. Loads all around south london and kent

Had a big hand in two of the goals today. I love the way he gets the best out of our better players like Lambert and Lallana. Dickson knew what Connolly was going to do in the box and was there to pick up the pieces, and the pass to Lambert sublime, for the penalty. Well worth an extra year, or longer if it was pay as you play.

Likewise, the pressure is getting to me, even if the team seem OK with it so far. I haven't enjoyed a game for weeks now. I so want Walsall to be a meaningless game, that we can just treat as our promotion party

In the Brighton south stand again this year. Really nervous about this game. It's scorching hot, a day for guly I hope.
-
........last one off the pitch today and looking like he's loving it here
-
Guly often looks poor because he doesn't just take the simple option. He made a few poor decisions today, but some of his interplay with Lallana was the type of class we'll need in the Championship to make any impression, fingers crossed, next year.

wasn't Ted's first match a 6-2 thumping @ Charlton...................seem to remember being back in the bar at Waterloo before the match had even finished. It did get a lot better than that later on though, a great pair of strikers, so much better than simply the sum of two decent players.
-
Agreed. I can't see many players messing with Gobern at this level and yet he's still just 20 years. He could be a good enforcer for Lallana over the next year or so.

Great picture! Certain the pitch must have been wider at times though, or am I dreaming. Try clicking on the 8th picture down for some video including a great goal by Brian O'Neill. http://www.mickchannon.tv/extra.php

Great shot but the only one I could find was really poor quality. Best I have so far is the YouTube video of channon's testimonial, classic memories. What happened to all the newspaper photos of that era?

If any one has any decent pictures of the old Dell taken during the 1960s and 1970s, particularly match day stuff, can they post them or PM me. I've been trying to explain how it used to be in those days, and there seems to be few decent pictures out there of the Dell when it was terraced at the ends, and under both stands.

Saw the U18s at Beckenham against Palace pass their way through a team of giants to win 4-1 on Saturday. I thought the wonder years may have gone with the departure of Georges Prost, but the current crop look on a par to any Academy team I've seen over the past 5-6 years. Standout was brilliant overall teamwork, although there were also very good individual performances - I haven't seen them much this year, was this a just a one off? Anyway on Saturday's showing Jason Dodd seems keeping the conveyor belt ticking along nicely.

El-Abd's Injury from the Brighton Game - Not for Faint Hearted!

I'll feel faint. And to think I didn't even clap him off the field as Brighton were being so negative at the time. -
I reckon for under £150 the 3G Kindle is a bargain. The ability to subscribe to Magazines/Blogs, coupled with the ability for 3G downloads means that updates are just a couple of clicks away wherever you are. Although you can Browse the internet and even play MP3s using the Beta version of the OS, the Kindle is best at just being a simple reading device. It works for me in my commute into London every day.

Hope Ben Reeves gets a run out at some point. I'll be really interested to see how he gets on against adults, having only seen him play in the U18s where he usually stood out as a class player. Could be a great full back if he can handle the physical side of things in the first team, but he sure isn't another van Gobbel in stature.
