  1. Yep. Whatever happened to that Shearer character. One hat trick on his debut and never heard off again. https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/images/smilies/wink.gif
  2. Tall, similar build to a young Morgan Schneiderlin. Has a great shot and free kick in him. It's massive ask for someone of his age but with the right protection he could be a surprise regular.
  3. I think this works for everyone. The villains get a steady player with a great cross, who just needs games. We end up with Bertrand / Vokins which is by far my preference to a Targett / Vokins / (+ ANother possible cheap buy in) option.
  4. Agree with this. Bertrand is a better player and can still perform at a higher level than Targett. But recently Ryan's performance levels have slipped away and he's looked really careless in some games last season. I fully expect he would do a Dusan Tadic and come back to haunt us, but still think he needs that new challenge to be revitalised. We need to keep that conveyor belt going.
  5. Surely, because it could just have easily have been one of their Cathedrals they deserve the title in perpetuity.
  6. Looking forward to this one. Football first, down to the town for a wander round, then Jason Isbell at he Brighton Dome in the evening.
  7. I'd like to see Hojbjerg as a straight replacement for Lemina for this one. He has been playing well for the U23s recently. Think this may be game that really suits him and will need winning in the midfield, before we can take the game to them. So same team for me apart from the change above, and get the subs on (including Boufal) on 60 minutes.
  8. Callum Slattery starting to show well at this level now. Ideal Steve Davis replacement material over the next year or two.

    BIG Clubs

Yep agreed. So why don't most people get this, there is a massive difference between Big and Great. Anyway, pleased I support a great (and also pretty big) club.

    BIG Clubs

What makes a GREAT club ? Love the current 'Big Issue' story. Definitely a worthy cause for the Club, Community, and the Players to be involved in things like this. Congratulations to the Club who have come up with some really novel ideas over recent years, as well as keeping up with the tried and tested !
  11. Great read on so many levels, football, racing, but most of all father son relationship. Recommended to all. Have a listen to Episode 3 of this link as well http://saintsfcpod.libsyn.com
  12. I think ? It was a long time ago

  14. I'd read that Milan was a pretty dull industrial city, but was very pleasantly surprised. The cathedral and square was great; as good as anything in this country. The shops plentiful, and pretty reasonably priced, along with the restaurants and bars - in general. Milan has that big city buzz that you don't see much outside London and Manchester over here. Whilst also being a place where families obviously still live. We stayed just a tube stop away from Doumas and at 5pm on Friday afternoon the local park was full of small family groups simply enjoying the afternoon sun. (ps. Just back from the Ethiad, which is a shed in comparison to the San Siro - although much easier to get out of afterwards).

  16. Was told this morning that they should arrive by Friday which is pretty tight as we seldom see a postman over the weekend, and we fly out Tuesday first thing. The ticket office then started talking about possibility of issuing over in Milan as an option. Is the option to pick up on Sunday before/after the match not possible ? No mention of that. All pretty amateurish for just 8,000 tickets, how hard can it be.
  17. Yes, but Sydenham did most of his sprinting up the red cinder type track by the side of the pitch which must have had an advantage over grass.
  18. Decent game I thought. Personally I reckon Valery was one of the better players tonight, tall and very quick. Sat in the Charlton side (end), and the general consensus was that Reed, McQueen, Hesketh, and Sims were our stand out players. McCarthy looks a very decent backup keeper, a definite improvement on what we had available last year.

  20. Yep. Thanks Markus, you started it. Special thanks to Katharina for continuing the jouney.
  21. Loads of problem on my iPhone until I logged on (rather than access as guest). Perhaps what the fiver is worth paying for.
  22. Great ability, just needs the confidence to start slotting in those free kicks like the SRL did for us for so many seasons.
  23. There is a whisper going around that Saints have an pre-agreement to sign Bradley Dack from Gillingham in the Summer. Not exactly the most exciting news (if it is true), but he is well regarded in League 1 and still fairly young.
  24. So, great signing on the face of it. Perhaps a naive question, but what happens if Austin's knee is really shot and he breaks down at some point and is unable to see out his contract ? Is there insurance that would pay out, will the outstanding period just be cancelled, or are Saints committed to pay for the remainder of his contract.
