I have to say I admire all 3 levels within the football club with regards to the issue as it is very rare principals and objectives override the bucket loads of cash that corrupt most ideals in football. Cortese for wanting to continue his vision, he's not stupid he knows the trust wants a return on any outlay as any reasonable business should and isn't settling for mediocrity as a goal in the premier league. MP for again not letting self interest cloud his principals, he was sold on the plan, the chairman and the project, if that changes then the plan and project changes and he walks. The players as they were sold on the project, have in the majority signed up for the best years of the footballing life to be a part of this project, if that changes why shouldn't they exercise their options.

I see most of us are looking at midfielders or forwards so I thought i would post a CB who i like the look of and is highly rated by Inter a team who can't turn down cash for decent players. Andrea Ranocchia - CB Inter 25yrs old. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/andrea-ranocchia/profil/spieler_44327.html and according to who scored has no known weaknesses http://www.whoscored.com/Players/27421/

Can't be arsed to read the previous 10 pages sorry but incase no one has given him a shout I am going for a Steve Davis upgrade that can also fill Gaston's role whilst also having good defensive discipline. He's Argentinian, he's 25yrs old, played in the champions league and is at a club that sells and he is excellent at final 3rd balls and is one of the most improved players this year in europe. He's Ever Banega. Agree the complexity and the ability for each player to react to gaps or runs is immense, you can see though how half time and fatigue could impact the concentration levels which leads to more half time and late goals. Another good website is this, lots of tactical and fact based predictions, its going for a 1-1 tomorrow. http://www.whoscored.com/Matches/615309/Preview

Not sure if this has been posted but a nice tactical view of our last game, could be some interesting learnings for Sunday. http://www.eplindex.com/31750/tottenham-1-southampton-0-indepth-tactical-analysis.html

Anyone check out the list about what books Footballers recommend for Kids and Adults in the Times today. Sadly it was as expected from footballers apart from a few surprises and Clint Dempsey demonstrating his thickness by thinking the Hobbit was a Adults book.

Reckon Alps and Dalek which hit 30 posts each tonight. Played really well, world class strike from a 1 man team, such is life. Wigan have been getting lucky the last few games, probability says that that will downturn and if they don't win at Swansea they are struggling. -

I am going to vote for Skintsaint as I just checked the current results and he is going for the most improved award as he currently has sweet fa. Thus my logic is that my vote would mean more to him and would more likely do me a favour in future as I was the dude who first voted for him ? Hang about I have also just thought will the Mods know who has voted for who ? this could kick off a secret assassination campaign from scorned mods, I would of voted for you all if I could.

SAINTS 0-3 West Bromwich Albion // Post-Match Reaction
Convict Colony replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Mauricio Pochettino conceded that the 3-0 defeat to West Brom was the worst performance of his tenure as Saints manager. We have shown a side of ourselves which is completely opposed to who we really are" Mauricio Pochettino A forgettable loss at St Mary’s was compounded by two red cards for the hosts as both Gaston Ramirez and Danny Fox saw red in the second 45 which was made worse by goals from Romelu Lukaku and Shane Long, after Marc-Antonie Fortune had given the Baggies a first half lead. “It is clear to me that West Brom were better than us today and I can’t really say anything other than that,” Pochettino told Saints Player after the game. “That is the worst defeat since I have been here in Southampton, the team didn’t show any positive aspects, which makes it the worst defeat in over three months. “We weren’t really in the game from the start and that is what happens when you are not. When we conceded the goal in the sixth minute we just started having problems, we were against a current and not able to get hold of the game. “We conceded a goal from a corner and then became really nervous and anxious and weren’t able to recover from that. Nothing was working for us today and basically we weren’t on the ball.” The gaffer didn’t place any of the blame on the dismissals of the two players, but admitted that he hadn’t had the best view of the incidents. “I did not see them clearly and I need to see the reviews on the TV before I can comment properly,” he said. “In the first half Jack Cork could have gone off as well for two yellow cards so it is something I need to review. “From my point of view on the pitch it is very hard to see what has happened. “There were other incidents that occurred during the match that could have also meant a red card or a yellow card at least, so we will review that but more importantly we need to review our performance today. We weren’t very good today and need to correct our mistakes.” Pochettino vowed to quickly put right the wrongs from the performance, and believes his side’s true character will return. “We have to learn from this defeat,” he acknowledged. “It has been a real tough defeat and we didn’t think that we would be defeated in such a way. We need to be intelligent, learn from this result and learn from our mistakes. “The team was not showing any of the negative signs that we have seen today through the week, I think we were uncomfortable from the beginning and I think overall we have just had a complete blackout today. “We have shown a side of ourselves which is completely opposed to who we really are.” Read more at http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/gaffer-we-were-second-best-794581.aspx#bYBtcGYUwMdDccXj.99 -

This stats website like Benteke more but like everything its down to preference and I don't know how Carroll got to 6 so it maybe illustrates stats are meaningless. http://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/2/Seasons/3389/Stages/6531/PlayerStatistics/England-Premier-League-2012-2013 Whoa they have Romelu down as 106th most influential guy this season, Morgan was 26th for us, Luke Shaw 76th and Danny Fox our lowest rated player at 266th. -

Yeah good point, forgotten they were both from there, belgian are going to be awesome soon with their team. I think I prefer Benteke, scored more in a team 4th from bottom but both are really raw. Why don't we bid for both of them ? -

He does seem like a mini drogba though and the fact he caught up clyne shows he has wheels. Whose the best young striker in the league at the moment, Benteke or Romelu ? -

The problem is that we are being hamstrung in our own ambitions by our historical thinking of who southampton should be bidding for. Whilst I agree he is probably out of range for us now who would of thought this time last year we would of spent 30 mil on players in the summer !!! -

Completely agree but i suspect he will be pulled back to Chelsea and they will sign Falcao and he will be lucky if he sits on the bench cos of Ba/Torres so all this good work this season will be lost. Worth a bid ? -

Think since Luke has been out that it has unbalanced both the back line and also the forward line as he really pushes to the bye line or look for a quick inside ball. Fox seems to get 10 yards past the half way line and look up and lob the ball in, it is all too predictable also his decision making on the defence didn't seem too flash. To be fair though a lot of people were bad today so plenty to work on during the week. I do think Morgan is a french robot, the dude can just run and intercept and tackle like a machine, france could do with him in their team. Thought Mayuka worked hard when he came on and closed down well twice which led to opportunities, Boruc was real good again, as was morgan and steve. What are the thoughts about changes in formation or personnel for the next game v Spurs ?
