Ok so getting back to tactics a little bit and its been annoying since Martin got appointed and that is 2 things, how we attack and how effectively we press. Attack: To get our positional play working we need to create space across the pitch and the first step to exploit that is to get the first reciever (mainly downes) to get the ball off the centre back etc on the half turn and drive forward from there, our reality is usually it goes to Downes/Aribo etc and there is a 75% chance its going back to the other CB or to 1 of the other defenders allowing the opposition to reset into their shape. To give you a easy comparision of how it should be done think how Lavia recieved the ball, half turned and instantly accelerated up field looking to play more vertical passes to the next line of players. We slow down our own play too much (ironically not being brave enough) therefore when the ball does go over the half way line its completley congested as the oppo have got back into shape and there is no space, hence how many times have our crosses been blocked, shots blocked its because we walk the ball up the field instead of breaking out once we evade the 1st line of press. My interim solution for this would be to make Fernandes the quarter back as he has the speed and turn to break out and definitely getting us attacking at speed to use our pace out wide. Pressing: The downside to our play is the space that can be exploited, but normally teams try to negate this by winning the ball back high up the pitch, look how city presses as soon as they loose the ball in the other half. Honestly i think this is more crap than our attack, our pressing has been bang average, the opposition easily beats it everytime and does ironically what i mention above, accelerate through our lines into our half quickly to get good chances. Usually we have to rely on someone sprinting 60yards to try and recover - yesterday suga did that to clear off the line, we need to stop these breakouts with better choesive pressing. Anyway morning rant out of the way, dont expect anything will change and trying to walk the football into the opposition box will continue, before a shot or cross is blocked and we half arsed press to retrieve it.

came to post something similar, thinks way faster than the rest near him and makes runs that the others arent seeing. Will be off to Man U at end of year if Amorin gets in

I've now convinced myself we are going for the Dennis Bergkamp approach to the premier league. Be shit until Nov then start scoring (hopefully not a hatrick of own goals tho) and winning games.

Yeah am seeing some flippant comments without people looking into the details I thought we played well, could of scored 1 goal with better composure, thought everyone did well, city should of had a few more booked by another ref who is using their commonsense when it's the opposition fouling or the rules against us. I've got a feeling we are getting closer to a win and then I would expect a few more to come after. Major concern for me is goalscoring, really feel we need tall Paul in there somehow with archer working off him.

i didnt see stephens do anything bad today, think its important to judge on each performance not just a whimsical narrative.

I know it doesnt fit the agenda but i thought martin did well today with both the team and how we played inc subs. Result isnt on him, more on the quality we have v city, also watching a stream with no comms is a relevation. Best possible loss we could hope for, big concern as it has been all season is goal scoring, who are our goalscorers as we are drier than a dingo's donger at the moment.

Good ipswich have done it a lot to other teams over the last year and a half

my streams sound doesnt work and its the best stream I've had in years.

I fully expect pep to go over board about Martin and the philosophy etc etc and won't surprise me it they 2-0 up and his team just passed it around for a bit. Id still rather have tall Paul and archer in if possible though
-
Do you have Martin underpants as well
-
Have to say if we did get rid of Martin we would be onto our 5th manager since SR took over.
-
The elephant in the room is that SR's aim of the 10yr plan is to make us better.....

Am guessing that the person Pilchards has alluded to is employed, as we'd want a young hungry guy to "step up" from their current club. Therefore in my strawman attempt at a prediction and by utilising my vast and deep understanding of all things soccerball related I think we are looking at Jacob Neestrup. Seems like he is highly adaptable and dynamic young coach whose "style" would fit with the league and also he can tell rasmus to fuck off in danish and he's already lost to City this year 3-1. https://the-footballanalyst.com/jacob-neestrup-fc-copenhagen-tactical-analysis/ Summary: In conclusion, Jacob Neestrup’s tactical approach at FC Copenhagen has proven to be both innovative and effective. His strategic emphasis on disciplined defensive structures, combined with fluid and precise attacking movements, showcases his understanding of the game and his adaptability as a manager. By maintaining a balance between defensive solidity and dynamic forward play, Neestrup has transformed FC Copenhagen into a resilient and versatile team capable of competing at the highest levels. As Neestrup continues to refine his tactics, FC Copenhagen looks set to grow even stronger, with a clear identity and a cohesive style of play. His tactical vision has not only enhanced the team’s performance but also made them a formidable force in domestic and European competitions. Please note - if this hail mary is correct, expect to see me quote this post a lot.

Honestly if you think about our squad and what we need to do to be more successful in this league what does that even look like ? Then what manager plays that way ?
-
They smashed Watford yesterday he won't be leaving anytime soon.

we assume his recommendations have been the ones we bought. When you add into the mix the transferoom brother and Martin i like manning, wood etc i sincerly doubt mowbray has had much influence on the purchases to be honest. It feels like SR have gone out with this waffle about scouting, systems etc etc and we end up going with manager's recommendations, good deals on transfer room and overpaying for problem positions (ramsdale is worth the money but couldnt of we got a ramsdale from temu version and spent money elsewhere via scouting)

your right bro Recent Rule Adjustments: The IFAB (International Football Association Board) and subsequently adopted by leagues like the Premier League, has made changes to reduce time-wasting and disruptions. If the treatment is quick, referees might allow play to continue without requiring the player to leave the pitch, especially if the stoppage was due to a foul resulting in a yellow or red card, though practices can vary based on the referee's judgment and specific match situations.

Have to say when i was watching them i thought buonanotte was excellent and when fatawu came on as well my first thought was i thought hopefully suelemana is watching what a winger is meant to do. Honestly leciester were unlucky to be 2-0 down at we all knew we were frauding by being 2-0 up. Also am guessing Suelemana was the man meant to be on the penalty spot on corners as tall paul will always be heading and we need a speedy outlet if we break. Life is hard enough without being a southampton fan.

yeah some are L1

engagement farming

you cannot have 18 shots against you and expect to win. We cannot stop shots ever.
-
Have to say we are playing much faster than last time I watched, upside we look more threatening downside is we give the ball away more.

Honestly for this game i would just like to see our best on the ball players play. That means Lallana, Fernandes, Dibbling, KWP. I would also like to see what happens it they combine it with 2 up top with the 2 being Archer and Tall Paul working together, TP being the outlet and archer making runs for these ball players. God knows what happens though, martins pride means TP is probably a sub again and we get the walking football to the edge of the oppo's box.
