I'd of thought any 30-40m player would destroy our pay structure which would have more impact than the transfer fee.

Interesting point so i thought i would see what him and giles co-directors roles were and by the way he did unearth frank. Thomas Frank was recruited by Brentford Football Club. Specifically, the recommendation to bring him into the club came from Rasmus Ankersen, who was Brentford's co-director of football at the time. Ankersen had been impressed by Frank's work with the Danish youth teams and during his tenure at Brøndby IF. Frank joined Brentford in December 2016 as an assistant head coach before being promoted to head coach in October 2018 following Dean Smith's departure to Aston Villa. Rasmus Ankersen and Phil Giles worked together as co-directors of football at Brentford, each bringing unique skills to the role: Rasmus Ankersen: Recruitment: He was heavily involved in player recruitment, leveraging his experience from his time as chairman of FC Midtjylland. His approach was influenced by his background in talent and performance development, which he explored in his books. Innovation and Strategy: Ankersen was known for driving innovative strategies within the club, including the decision to close down the academy and set up a B team, and was key in implementing a data-driven approach to football management. Negotiations: He had a significant role in player negotiations, often engaging directly with players and their representatives. Relationship with Midtjylland: He facilitated the sharing of ideas and innovations between Brentford and FC Midtjylland, where he was also chairman until stepping down from that role. Phil Giles: Analytics: Giles brought his expertise in statistical sports modeling from his role at Smartodds, where he was the head of quantitative sports research. This analytical approach was crucial for Brentford's recruitment strategy. Operational Management: He managed the day-to-day football operations alongside Ankersen, focusing on how statistical data could inform decisions on tactics, player performance, and team management. Crisis Management: During the Covid-19 outbreak, Giles applied his knowledge from his academic background in statistics to help manage the club's response, including negotiating wage deferrals. Philosophy and Vision: Both directors shared the vision of making Brentford a sustainable and innovative club, with Giles focusing on the logical and rational application of data in football management. Together, they complemented each other's skills, with Ankersen focusing more on the broader strategy, recruitment, and innovation, while Giles concentrated on the analytical and operational side of football management. Their partnership was pivotal in Brentford's rise to the Premier League through a combination of traditional scouting and statistical analysis, often referred to as a 'Moneyball' approach.

At least someone can foul him if he just runs, maybe a sending off etc
-
I guess Gozteppe might me making a profit this summer on their players based on their peformance, the rest of us not so much. I say Dragan buys out Rasmus/Kraft, appoints someone to run the football side like Ashworth who then has each director of football report to him and has ultimate accountability.
-
The thing that keeps him in any conversation is his pace, and his ability to beat a man on the transition '(on paper at least). I am going to go out on a limb here and say i would not be averse to him replacing AA in the starting line up for a few games, see if we can get some of that confidence back, i know i know but we arent exactly smashing them in and i'd rather we go out on our shield.

Just a reminder since SR have bought us we are a net 57m total spend in the last 3 seasons, so effectively spent 19m a season. Thank fuck we sold Lavia, JWP, Tino etc https://www.transfermarkt.com/southampton-fc/transfers/verein/180/plus/?saison_id=2023&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=

The legoland derby, the danepak duel, the carlberg clash of 2 danish giants - Rasmus v Thomas Frank Rasmus leveraging the work of Thomas and team to snag a billionaire investor.
-
Yeah agree i think Rasmus got lucky with his other roles as he was never 100% responsible, now in SR he is responsible and we have been utter shit. The idea to remove scouts from clubs and have 1 consolidated scouting system for all clubs is ok in principal if they actually recruit well and dont have 3 different clubs playing in 3 unique types of leagues. Rasmus and head of scouting needs a 1-1 with Dragan. At this moment in time our football expert has managed to make 2 clubs worse and 1 better whilst spending a lot of money.

Thought he might of got on to deal with mateta once jan got his yellow as he had been losing that battle all game and ABK is a unit and pacey.
-
Who cares he's on our team trying to get fouls and players in trouble, we need more shithouses, we are not in a position where we can be choosy. He's 20yrs old, playing in a new league and has been probably among the best players for us this season in a crap team.

-
Not too concerned with midfield as I expect to see full Atalanta esq man to man marking today so everyone defends.

2min of highlights currently https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV4JPKggaQY After watching it I would say TP did well with 2 of his attempts, unfortunatley like fernandes the easier one went straight to the keeper, but encouring stuff.
-
Agree, pistorious had a couple of shots on him and hits the target as well.

Bro's back from the yanks, the steak was nice but based on what I've read it's a promising start. Tall Paul and Big Les playing well, first half we looked good then ran out of steam. We might not of won but it's given us optimism to build from and a bit of belief for the next games. Biggest annoyance as noted is that players who didn't get a look in seem to be out better players today, hopefully juric makes sure they stay and gets us another option for goal scoring in Jan window.

So what you are saying is Stewart/Armstrong/Archer/Tall Paul are better than him ?
