Having watched the second half of Swansea's game, it seems to me that we need a keeper with a bigger presence and whose distribution is better. Swansea's keeper was excellent distributing the ball. Kelvin just seems to punt it up the left wing. I know he didn't stand much of a chance for the 2nd goal, but he didn't put any pressure on the striker or make a large enough target of himself. I don't think we need too many players, but 3 or 4 quality ones are essential.....especially a pacy winger. Jay Rod is going to become disillusioned very quickly if he keeps being put out to grass on the left wing. I feel sorry for the lad.

Maybe it's Owen......I hope not.

Yes, I can confirm that there was a Saints flag - great to see on TV out here.

A miscarriage is a disaster, but an abortion is okay? Same baby. I think as you become older your opinion on this changes. Personally, abortion does not sit well with me, but of course women need to have that option. The alternative is even worse - bottle of gin and the stairs. I think the upper limit for the number of weeks should be reduced, though.

French Africa - Southampton after a slice

I always thought that non-EU passport holders had to play a certain % of internationals for their home country before they can be considered for a work permit? Therefore, how can the youth of these countries qualify? Papa had an Italian passport I seem to remember. Even Chung had his first application turned down, and he is a Japan regular. Maybe the Don will arrange 'dodgy' marriages to English slappers? -
A very recent interview - Nigel sounds very relaxed in my opinion. These rumours are obviously wide of the mark.

An example of the "dark arts" employed by RL. Why doesn't he just accept that he is history, we were all glad to see the back of him, and leave it at that? There is no way RDM will come here after winning the European Cup, and, quite frankly, I don't think he is all that. On another day, Chelsea would have been beaten comprehensively. I don't fancy watching Saints with 10 men behind the ball when we play Wigan. That's the equivalent scenario.

Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition

I remember Pardew's comments after the tonking of Bristol Rovers - this could have all the hallmarks of a repeat. I really hope not, but if Cortese is as ambitious as he seems to be, then 'evolution' may not just be limited to the players? It would be a terrible and unjust decision which wouldn't go down well with the true fans. Football is taking over the asylum. -
Watching on Al Jazeera, I was annoyed by the comments from the panel: 1) West Ham were the best team in the Championship this year, 2) Upton Park is a fortress, 3) West Ham fans are the best, 3) The play-offs is the best way to go up, 4) West Ham will do better than the other promoted sides in the EPL next season. Mind you, the panel was Curbishley & Phil "Perma Tan" Brown. Trevor Francis was also on, but he was much more even in his comments.

Blackpool were the better side - but if you don't take your chances you don't win. I thought Matt Phillips was very average. I watched the match on Al Jazeera and the studio host was the guy who got sacked from sky (Richard K?). What a plank he is!

He isn't even a footballer anymore - he never plays. After spending time on the treatment table, commuting in his helicopter from up North, attending the races, he has no time left to sit on the subs bench or to collect his 40k per week wages. Keep well clear....this guy has no desire left for the beautiful game.

You must be absolutely joking.

Don't worry, she will never go down for it - too many connections. The driver should be the one who is concerned. Probably a 60 year old cockney who did as he was told, otherwise he'd be sacked. 10 years for him, a CEO's job in the USA for the ginger "witch." Cameron keeps good company doesn't he! LOL!!!!!

Austin Morris, Johnny Seaman, John Tomas, Peter Philes, Mr. Tsunami. But no Master Bates, Seaman Staines or Roger the cabin boy unfortunately.

How many different nationalities have you slept with?

England, Germany, France, Australia, New Zealand, U.S.A, Bulgaria, Philippines, India, Romania, Norway, Finland, Russia, South Africa, Lebanon. None of them hookers - in my book this doesn't count. -
Things you only see in 'Poorer' areas

You have all just described where I was brought up in the '60's....minus the sky dishes of course. On the whole, the people on my estate were very friendly and there was never much trouble. However, I received a lot of negative comments at school, which was due to the fact that most of the kids came from an "affluent" area. The joke was that these areas weren't really that affluent at all. People are snobs, always have been and always will be. But it's good to laugh at yourself, and I enjoyed reading some of the observations posted on here - quite funny. -
I guess no one will ever know what really happened. I agree with the previous posters, tha20you see them on TV. It looks as if Kate McCann is under her husband's 'spell' to a certain extent. He looks too cocky, almost arrogant even. She looks as if she is very sad and not on this Planet, and is always very frosty toward him. They never seem to have eye contact even. Also, the way the mass publicity thing took off was very strange - someone must have been pushing it, surely? Children go missing every day, all over the world, and it's time that the media focuses its energies on saving young kids who are starving and who are dying from disease. Let the Police do their job, that's the way it should be. Hopefully, Madeleine will turn up one day, but I very much doubt it.

Nuclear is not the way - too expensive to build and decommission, and disposal of the waste is an aspect which has never been resolved properly. Finland is building the world's first deep underground storage at the moment. Wave and tidal power has to be the way for the UK - just think how much energy can be harvested when the tide comes in? Back to nuclear - we will solely be beholding to the French Govt. if we head down this route. EDF and AREVA are French state-owned companies. Would you want to be at the mercy of people like Sarkozy? Anyway, nuclear power was only a spin-off from the development of nuclear weapons. It is bloody dangerous and the industry is packed with boffins who have no common sense. At Fukushima, the standby generators were below or at sea level - just like in every other nuclear plant. The plants are only as safe as their weakest link. Water - the poster above is right - you can create a national grid, but the private (foreign) companies won't pay for it. People have been piping water huge distances since the dawn of time....the Romans....the Yanks (Las Vegas anyone).

The media circus has started. All this will do is make Nigel more guarded in future - and he is guarded enough already! Let's just concentrate on the footie now.

Hodgson was the obvious choice from the beginning, except that the media were blinded by their love for 'Arry. That's the problem now, though, they have egg on their faces and will want to take it out on Roy. Just take one look at his managerial record and you will see it is excellent....in many countries. Being a resident of Finland, I know what a good job he did there with very limited players - you can't get a smaller pool of talent to work with than in Finland. Look at Switzerland also. My only hope is that he picks hungry and receptive players, and kicks out the likes of Gerrard, Terry, Lampard....and of course Rooney, who is suspended anyway. Time to clear out the deadwood and stick 2 fingers up to the Press, Roy. The same Press that hounded you out of Liverpool, paving the way for the magical free-spending "King Kenny." He's a decent man aswell. Thank Christ that spivy secondhand car dealer hasn't got it. I bet those players punting for 'Arry are choking on their cornflakes in their 250 grand kitchens. Well done the FA!

I agree with Alpine - not the time to be discussing this. Disrespectful to the wonderful players that have got us promoted....except Forecast!

A ridiculous thread considering the euphoria surrounding the day. Of course Nicola will be pushing hard for improvement during the course of the next 12 months, but that doesn't mean that Nigel won't get the chance to step up. He's done it already, so why would Nicola doubt that he won't be able to do it again? It's the same with the players. As for the hugging part, would you hug your Boss? I wouldn't. Pardew got a hug at Wembley, and he was gone within months. Nigel isn't going anywhere. He loves his job and we all love him. My only wish is that his post-match interviews become more interesting.
-
Unbelievable! Watched the whole match standing up in my front room in Qatar. Enjoy the night on the town all of you!

Saints will win, don't worry all. I was nervous a few days ago, but no more. I have the same feeling as the morning of May 1st 1976. Never thought we'd lose then, don't know. Just roar the boys on and they will deliver.
-
My nerves have been shot for the best part of 2 weeks now. Pathetic really - I am 50 years old and don't live in the area anymore. I was describing the situation last night to my wife - who is Finnish - and she thought the mass hysteria was hilarious. I likened it to the tension surrounding the World Ice Hockey Final between Finland and Sweden..... I hope we give Coventry the same treatment that the Finns gave the Swedes (6-1)
