Puncheon was MOM....just superb. Saints played with a high intensity, which was pleasing to see at last. Cork and Shaw have made a big difference. Davis for Ramirez was an inspired substitution by Adkins. At that point we were starting to struggle, but as soon as Davis came on we penned them in their half. Gazza....oh dear. We need a new keeper pronto. The lad might be okay in a couple of years, but he isn't up to it yet. It's so frustrating how we pepper the opposition's goal and still give silly goals away. A 3-1 away win is excellent, especially as Saints dominated the game from start to finish. The January window will decide our PL fate. I hope that we are looking for a player who is on the same wavelength as Ramirez - we will score a hatful if we can find someone.

I don't know what the OP is on about - Adkins got everything pretty much spot on. We created many more chances than Chelsea did last week and simply should have won. A suicidal pass by Gazza and dithering by Yoshida and that was that. That isn't Adkins fault. We looked much more solid with Shaw at left back and Cork in the centre. A good performance by all bar Gazza.

There was no military presence in Finland other than a few British stragglers who had actually volunteered to fight for Finland against the Russians. Britain declared War on Finland as a token gesture, because Finland allied with the Germans to reclaim land that they lost in the Winter War (39/40) to the Russians. Churchill ordered one bombing raid where the RAF deliberately dropped bombs in Helsinki harbour. This was to placate Stalin, because the Russians had suffered huge losses fighting the Finns, and by this time were also at War with Germany. Hardly a British invasion don't you think? Christopher Lee of acting fame was one of the volunteers who went to Finland. Probably, spying on the Russians. None of the volunteers saw action as the Winter War was already over when they arrived.

Yes, but Britain did not invade Finland.....study the facts.
-
Inaccurate....Britain has never invaded Finland. Load of tosh.

I like the look of Boruc - he has real presence. Gazza is better on distribution, and when he bulks out a bit he will be a very good goalkeeper. He's not ready yet, though. Some fans were watching a different game to me on Sunday. Boruc had zero chance with the first and actually put Defoe off for the second, to such an extent that he scuffed his shot. It was the panic-stricken terror of Fonte that gave the goal away - he could easily have cleared it. Mind you, it's probably the same fans who booed Guly that are now moaning - that was utterly disgraceful.

Why is it untenable? Under Ted we used to finish third from bottom every alternate season, going months without a win. Lawrie got us relegated in his first season. Give Nigel a break and show some support for the Club.
-
Stick with Nigel. Lawrie took a while to get going and look what happened then. But I would still get a coach in to help Nigel out in the short-term - to take the pressure off him and to shore up our lousy defence. It isn't just individual mistakes, it's more fundamental than that.
-
Hoddle on a consultancy basis for a while. Knows how to get 1-1 draws, is interested in youth development, and it would irritate the hell out of Le Tiss. The guy is an excellent coach, but he's been out of the game for a while.
-
Tactically, Adkins got it spot on first half. Saints dominated without really threatening too much. West Ham didn't even have a sniff. Then came the all-too-familiar suicidal 2 minutes and the game was over. Both goals were 'gifts' in the extreme. I can't quite fathom how Boruc was at fault, though. He wasn't as bad as many have pointed out, although I think Gazza's distribution is much better. It's quite easy to beat Saints at the moment - we just implode. Is that Adkins fault? I don't know the answer to that. We dominated large parts of the game and lost 4-1. West Ham didn't string more than 2 passes together. Funny game football.

There was a woman on Sky News last night who recounted what she saw - Savile molest an unconscious disabled patient. You could tell by the emotion in her eyes that she was telling the truth. Too many people have come forward now for it to be a lie. In Dave Jones case, it was just a handful of complaints, which were all exposed as an elaborate lie.

Of course everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Under the eyes of the Law, he will always be innocent. Hitler was never convicted of war crimes was he? Do you think he's innocent? Similarly, Blair.

Underage sex has always gone on and always will. The difference between a 16-year old tonking his 15-year old girlfriend, and Jimmy Savile's disgraceful antics, is as wide as the Grand Canyon. Jimmy Savile was a sick, predatory, kiddie fiddler, who used his celebrity to avoid prosecution. He was a fully focused paedophile. You cannot compare the two. What concerns me most about this case, is how did he get away with it? How large is this paedophile ring and who does it involve? You can get 2 years in gaol for nicking a tray of doughnuts, yet you can go on a 20/30 year spree of abuse and get knighted for it. Therefore, members of the Establishment must have been involved.

That's a very valid point - Redknapp would destroy the young lads. It was rumoured he was even trying to sell Bale at one point - said no one had taught him how to play football! Twit.

Depending on what the construction detail is, you don't point between roof tiles. Are they completely different tiles or do they abut a fire wall/parapet wall which goes through the roof?

Nigel is becoming the new "Tinkerman," and I'm afraid he's going to end up the same way. Also, his body language was wrong from beginning to end. He hardly clapped when we scored the first, so something is up. Why, oh why, did he take off RL and JP.....again? Saints threw away the easiest 2 points of the season as Fulham were absolute garbage.
-
All very sad indeed. This brings back memories when an acquaintance of mine back in 2004 told me that there was going to be a big paedophile scandal involving a huge number of celebrities. She gave me a number of names - she had a journalist friend at the Mail - and because she was a bit of a fantasist I dismissed it. Later, she said that publication was blocked because of a number of injunctions. Anyway, 2 of them have now been outed (not the usual suspects like JS and GG either). If the rest have been involved then this will be the scandal of the century. To me, it looks like it's payback time from Murdoch. It will be interesting to see whether the investigation goes any further. The Establishment either had knowledge of this or were directly involved. These are the people who look down on the ordinary hard working folk of this country. Disgusting.

I don't understand the moaning on here. Football is expensive and people are entitled to choose which matches they go to. Add to that the cost of petrol, parking, a moaning wife etc. and I can certainly understand why, on a Sunday, people don't want to get up early and travel to St. Mary's when they can watch it on the box. If there is over 27k then that's very good in my opinion, especially as we are getting well beaten in the majority of our games. I shall be watching it on TV in the desert. Does that mean I'm not a true Saints fan?

Lock him in a room and show him a DVD of Portsmouth FC's glorious history - better than water boarding.

Some Tweets Saying We Have Borrowed Against Future Season Ticket Sales
Suomi Saint replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
I wouldn't be overly concerned by this, Cortese knows what he's doing. After all, he bought the Saints for Markus for an absolute song. Okay, in future he may try and sell us, but I doubt that. He sees Saints as his little Empire and is probably too egotistical to give us up. Of course we must stay in the Prem to pay for everything - that's the conundrum, what does he do with Nigel if we lose a few more matches? Stick or twist? -
OWTSGMI ringing all around The Dell when Lawrie's great teams were giving the opposition the runaround.

How many more examples do we, as citizens of a once great nation, need before we chase these people out? I think the "plebs" comment was the ultimate indication that politicians inhabit a parallel Universe. But the most appalling thing for me is that millions of decent, hard working people will become victims of the pensions ticking time bomb - a whole generation infact. And their answer? Keep raising the age of retirement. So look forward to 80 year old's collecting trolleys in Lord Sainsbury's car park.
-
Senior politicians are only in it for what they can get out of it - Blair anyone? He now jets around the world making millions when he should be tried in the Hague as a war criminal. The expenses scandal told you all you need to know about politicians. Basically, they are low-life, thieving, lying, scum with plummy voices. But that's what the masses have accepted. The alternative? Demand a change in their behaviour - a return to decent values.

This whole teacher running off with a pupil thing
Suomi Saint replied to Turkish's topic in The Lounge
At my school, in the late 70's, our geography teacher was having relations with our Head Girl whilst she was 15. He used to walk her home every night in full view of the whole school. This type of thing is nothing new. I don't condone his behaviour, but the Media really have conducted a witch-hunt. The lynch mob will get there way, no doubt, and his life will be ruined forever. However, he does have himself to blame. Meanwhile, Jimmy Saville was lauded by all and sundry? -
I'm afraid this post is head in the sand. Today, Saints were awful. We looked like a Championship side, and I'm afraid that Nigel's tactics were all wrong. You can blame the defence as much as you like, but Everton had acres of space in midfield at times....acres. I am normally quite optimistic, but that performance depressed me because the tactical and on-pitch errors were so very basic. Of course there was some neat football, but if you get blasted 3-1, 6-1, then what's the point? Even Ramirez was poor today. Nigel deserves time, but I'm not sure he is going to get it.
