Saints programmes dating from 1960s to 1980s - a free home.
Suomi Saint posted a topic in Buy / Sell
Hi. I live in Finland, but will be visiting the UK at the end of October/beginning of November for my mother's funeral (in Leicestershire). I have a box of Saints programmes dating from the 1960s through to the 80s and maybe some are early 90s. What I would like to do is give them away (free of charge) to a diehard Saints fan who would appreciate them. The box isn't that large, but there must be 50 to 100 programmes in there, in various condition....some with my boyhood writing on, some without. They are mostly programmes for matches at the Dell, but there are some for away matches....it's years since I looked in the box, but my Sister says they are all okay (not suffering from damp or anything). I will probably be in the UK for only 3 days, so what I would like to do is hand them over personally to a Saints fan who lives in the Midlands and doesn't have too far to travel to pick them up (petrol costs being high). I do not want the hassle of posting them during such a short visit. So, if you are interested, then please send me a message. Kind regards, Philip. -
This thread is truly ridiculous.

I don’t get the general negativity on here. We didn’t roll over at 2-0, created chances, and Ings scored. Just one of those days.
-
Using the word ‘excuse’ doesn’t really help.

If they are going to make it at Saints they would have done so by now. Hesketh is made of glass, but Sims could have a career at a lower level. Players of an earlier era, e.g. Stevie Williams and Steve Moran, were not out of their depth at 18,19,20 against the likes of Liverpool who were dominating Europe.

I don’t know why some posters are getting so angry about this, it’s not your money (its basically Sky’s) or personal risk. I remember when we bought a crocked Charlie George the fans still welcomed him. He remained on the treatment table, and despite the gate money (our money) paying his wages we didn’t complain. If the doctor says Ings is fit then get behind him, especially as he is a local lad.

Personally, I think he is an excellent player, and it would be utter madness to sell him at all, let alone for 10M

I changed my Branfoot one to BigFoot.

Bit early for doom and gloom. Let’s see how we get on against Burnley.

Better to have the wake up call now rather than later......

Don’t write him off too soon....Lambert was a relatively late developer. As others have said, SG needs a run of games and a manager who has faith in him. Saints know this, and will keep/sell him accordingly. -
The better team lost....robbed. The ref got the 2 big decisions totally wrong. A South American team would still be protesting now.

That’s a bit of a killjoy thing to say. My 85 year old mother doesn’t go to football either, but she is English and loves watching our boys win.=Lord Duckhunter;2646994]Please god no. The most annoying thing about this whole run is all this “it’s coming home” pony. T number of people, particularly dopey birds, who have never discussed football or shown a passing interest that are now spouting this balls on my timeline or in person is doing my ****ing head in. People I’ve never discussed football with or ever heard them mention football are now mad for it. My staff know that I follow Saints week in week out and I’ve had conversations with about half a dozen with them about football, all of a sudden they’re all mad keen football fans asking me if “it’s coming home”. Pretty soon my response will be “I don’t know, but say it again and you’ll be going home, ****ing fired”. Half wits. Talk about a bloody great bandwagon Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Never change a winning team in a tournament because you lose all momentum. Southgate has made a big mistake.

The reports from Scotland are that he has wanted a move to the EPL for a couple of years. If Strachan rates him the that is okay by me. Give the lad a chance.
-
It was a superb performance from him last night although he was obviously pumped up because he was playing against his ‘friends’ from Serbia. If he played like that every week then Saints would have no chance in signing him, but of course he doesn’t. Maybe there is a chance he will come, depends on how he performs in the next games. Switzerland look very useful and may go far in this tournament.

I don’t understand the policy of buying late after shipping all the decent players out early. Why can’t Saints act like normal clubs and do it the other way around. Has Uncle Les never heard of a short term bridging loan? Which we wouldn’t need if all the VVD money hadn’t disappeared to China. I would recommend holding off renewing your season tickets for a few weeks and see how things pan out.
-
Personally, I don’t buy the ‘to be nearer the family’ explanation. England is such a small country to get around. I am sure if Real Madrid had come knocking then I’m sure it wouldn’t have been an issue. Les is just a poor negotiator.

It was a good interview. Hopefully, he can steady the ship this year and lift us to mid-table. Refreshing.

Modern footballers are a fragile lot. The same 11 used to play on bog like pitches for 50 plus matches with only one substitute in my day. The squad size back then was only 16/18. Easter fixtures were Friday, Saturday and Monday. The modern day tarts check their hair in giant screens and cry when some nasty Spaniard hurts their shoulder. This is just pampering to the Big 6 manager’s whims. With a squad of 25 or whatever it is, they don’t need a week off in Dubai in February. Or perhaps the FA are simply preparing us for the Qatar 2022 debacle.

The club must have money following all those sales and the TV money. If Hughes does not sign then it will be obvious the Gao family have no ambitions for Saints in football terms. Unless we spend a sizeable amount of money we will go down next season. Nothing stops still in the Premier League. If Saints can’t hack the big league investmentwise then somebody else will take our place. Other clubs that are smaller than us seem to do just fine, yet our Board would have us think that we are a tinpot small club with no money - ‘living within our means.’

Perhaps Uncle Les really is up to his old tricks and AM is off to Liverpool with Hart coming in as his replacement? Personally, I have never like Joe Hart, always thought he was a bit arrogant for the talent he actually has. I would prefer AM as our No.1, and a wheelie bin as No. 2 instead of FF.
-
Judging by Hughes demeanour on the BBC, it looks like our top Brass are looking elsewhere for the next manager. Cue long drawn out saga and late player signings.
-
Get a couple of real leaders in the team and try and recoup as much as we can on the ‘dross’ Les thinks will come good. Major surgery is needed. I fear that the asset stripping will just continue, although we don’t appear to have too many left.
-
He deserves the job for sure. I hope Uncle Les doesn’t procrastinate and the invisible Chinaman doesn’t interfere.
