Somebody on the Everton forum suggests Armstrong is out with a thigh strain (no idea of how they have that info): They are playing it down a little but with no Walcott option in this game Saints are struggling a bit. Dejenepo injured, Armstrong picked up a strain while self isolating !!! So they choose between Long (has 45mins max in him) and Tella (youth, headless chicken).

Good write up on him here: https://www.theguardian.com/football/ng-interactive/2020/oct/07/next-generation-2020-20-of-the-best-talents-at-premier-league-clubs

According to this analysis Sangare was the best defensive midfielder in Ligue 1 last season: https://ligue1analysis.com/finding-the-best-young-defensive-midfielders-in-ligue-1-data-analysis-statistics/analysis/data-analysis/

There’s been a lot of talk about the high line against Spurs but as Carragher pointed out on MNF the goals we conceded were more down to the positioning of our defenders than a high line. He highlighted the gap between our centrebacks, them not being tight enough to the forwards and allowing them to turn and KWP being on the wrong side of Son. Our line wasn’t particularly high on the second and third goals - we just weren’t aggressive enough when the ball was played in to the forwards.

Bertrand badly at fault for the goal

I must have been watching a different game to Ashley Cole. Foden has been the player dropping deep and Ward Prowse has often been the furthest forward of the midfield 3.

How many chances do we need?

Pretty sure that was Andy Crosby, his assistant, who came up with the free kick routines.

Looks like it nicks off Bednarek’s shoulder just in front of Gunn

Cédric!,,,

And another...

This. And the high boot from Young that he gave as a freekick against Ward-Prowse for handball (off his shoulder). And Young diving to get a freekick which Dean didn’t award - so Young laid on the ball and instead of giving obstruction Dean gave him his freekick when our players challenged him.

This fella: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrejs_Perepļotkins Couldn't get a work permit so we loaned him to Bohemians in Ireland.

Thought that he had a very good first half - couple of great dribbles and set up a good chance for Marega. Looks to have good close control, very quick and a good change of pace - burst past his full back from a standing start on a couple of occasions. As has been mentioned he drew lots of fouls. Faded a tad in the second half but still looked dangerous in patches - should have shown a bit of composure when through on goal but it was a tight angle and he seemed caught in two minds. All in all thought he looked very promising.

Sorry, wrong thread - should be on the Djenepo thread!
