Update: I see your predicament, there are actually two tournaments running concurrently; the Southampton cup, and the Southampton community cup. The first is for Elite level uk and international youth teams, while the latter is open to local grassroots club. My son's team is in the grassroots cup, hence I had the brochure emailed to me. You may be looking for the Elite tournament, and yes, info is hard to find at the moment.

Note: according to the brochure, there is no U12 boys... What team is it?

But that's the thing. It will be difficult to implement that, to get players to play on when their instinct is to stop when a flag is raised. Again, there are lots of scenarios to consider. The issue is with the flagging, even without a whistle, def's and gk's tend to relax waiting for the whistle. So, that's going to take quite a shift in behaviour.

I've had quite a chat about this on Twitter today. Others have have asked what would happen if the flag went up on a move 35 yards out and the video showed that he was onside? Defenders would have stopped on seeing the flag, whistle or no whistle. I know they should play to the whistle! But, the more I think about it, I feel that the video evidence would only be called into play on an 'instant' game affecting action such as a cross finished off in the box; goal. The lino might flag, but his flagging wouldn't affect the play; the ball would already be in the net. Then the ref would call on the VT to check the decision. As happened in last night's game. In the event of the through ball 35 yards out and the flag going up. Is he offside? Is he onside? Well, the linesman flags, the ref blows and that's it. No review. Anything else would just complicate it. You can't say play on and see what happens and then we'll look at the VT.

It didn't really work like this, certainly not in the beginning at least. The 2 strikers were miles apart, they were around the corners of the 18yd box. It got a bit better but not great imo.

I think we work best in a 4231 or 4411 as it becomes without the ball. I think the 2 wide men have slightly less defensive responsibilities than the 2 CMs in the 433 system. The 1 DM in the 433 gets overrun if the 2 CMs can't help him, but they are also expected to link with the attack. The 433 has 2 lines (excluding the defence), the 3 in midfield and the 3 in attack (I know they're not exactly rigid), the 4231 has 3 lines, the 2 holding, the 3 supporting and the 1 attacker. It offers scope to play in-between the lines more which helps link midfield to attack. I think Tadic talked about groups of 3 on each side of the pitch. I not sure if he means his link up with redmond and gabbi on one side and JWP and Gabbi on the other, or if he means the full back and the wide man. Whatever, these 'threes' are important for linking up and creating space and interplay to create chances for the man ahead of them; Gabbi.

I've heard he has an injury but that was at Christmas time. I don't know what is but his movement is not right. His body language isn't good either. Maybe he's not happy he's being forced to play? After a bad kick yesterday he spent 10mins looking very uncomfortable, like he'd hurt himself or at least making a show of it to cover his bad kick. Personally, I think his position was poor for the free kick which is nothing to do with movement. He's just given himself too much to do. 3rd goal was put in the one spot he would've hoped for IMO and he still missed it!
