  1. San Francisco can be cold in the fog so be prepared, and dress layered! If you get fed up with the USA take a side trip to Solvang and pretend you’re in Denmark instead, or for a seaside boardwalk style place try Santa Cruz. The US do tacky really well. Food wise Californians eat well (you can buy meat other than beef) and drink micro-brewery beer. Some of it is surprisingly good. I’d suggest a copy of Road Trip USA (you only want the Pacific Coast trip) and this website http://www.takemytrip.com/04cal/index.htm , both have been invaluable to us.
  2. Griffith Observatory - best place for views of the Hollywood sign
  3. Midlands to Le Mans by tunnel 1 day, and as Trousers, stopped in Le Mans at maybe same hotel. Next day to near Pau. Did return non stop but had planned to stop at Rouen, changed chunnel booking as we realised we could make it non stop. Watch out for the French leaving Paris for the coast. Traffic on the return leg was horrendous, but fortunately going the other way.
  4. Budgie? LAX gets my vote too, total chaos, especially if you have to transfer terminals
  5. Not sure on the rules of posting direct links on here, but google four seasons landscaping Oxford. Matt is a season ticket holder in the Chapel. Sure he won't mind passing on advice after work. Tell him his father in law sent you.
  6. Oxford Area?
  7. That IS closer than you think. By the end of the decade.
  8. Take off from a mud covered runway. Probably did enough damage to write the aircraft off
  9. Having done a lot of this trip it is a great trip. Think you might be pushed for time though. My tips not so far included: Look out for elephant seals at Cambria on highway 1. If you fancy a short trip away from the sea Solvang is about the only town I've been to in the States that qualifies as picturesque. (If you're Danish you might want to give it a miss though). North part of highway 1 can be cold and foggy, especially San Francisco - take a jacket! Might be of interest to some, Edwards Air force base do a tour about twice a month, but you have to book before you go.
  10. Speaking as a CV postcode resident, married to a cov bees supporter and an occassional blaze watcher, the plight of Coventry does sadden me even if it does come with a sigh of relief that it could of been us. Count on my support for SISU out! and I feel for my Cov supporting friends. If its any consolation, I quite enjoyed the couple of seasons in division1
  11. Some people just can't handle crosswinds
  12. Slightly off thread, but BBC has Etuhu booked at 68 minutes. However, the ref also showed him a 2nd yellow for coming on to the pitch to celebrate Norris's goal. So thats 1 definitely missing for next game.
  13. Age 56 born in Southampton, now live in Warwickshire. missed a couple of home games this season. 1st home game, Dec31st 1966, lost 1-5 to Blackpool, got soaked and frozen! 1st away game 1971 Fa cup away liverpool, lost 0-1. Crowd was so packed in in the visitors section you moved just like in those old match of the day scenes!
  14. Was a republican, now a royalist. Why the change? The US system. By the end of Bush 90% of Americans hated him, but if he walked into the room everyone would stand up and applaud; the press hardly said a word against him because criticising him was seen as being unpatriotic. By the end of Gordon Brown 100% of British hated him, would boo him and he was slated in the press. I like the freedom to tell the top politician he is rubbish, but in the “land of the free” you can’t do that. I’m polite about the queen because I’m proud to be British. In my opinion an unelected monarchy gives more power to the people than an elected president, unlikely as it sounds!
  15. On Solent after the 'boro game NA stated that teams promoted in the last 3 years had used about 30 players. Do the counting and he's answered the question.
  16. Aldershot (friendly), and to make you think - Grimsby. (but I've never been to Grimsby!)
  17. Both teams field an ineligible player?
  18. There's at least 2 Air Traffic Controllers who use this site - I'm sure they can advise, but not all of them can send PMs.
  19. Remember what you wrote on the application form! Mostly, the interviewers want to give you the job, and most candidates talk them out of it.
  20. You may remember back in November a pice on South Today about a John Lewis employee at West Quays who was banned from wearing a poppy at work? She now has an on line petition for the government to address this issue. You may want to sign it at http://www.gopetition.com/petition/43263.html I was number 2074 to sign
  21. OK just back from the game.ooh I've always wanted to say that. Met Rod Bransgrove and Cardigan Connor. Don't get too carried away by Hampshires performance - leeward islands are not that good; keiran powell,1 of their spinners with an unspellable name and the roly poly Cornwall are the only ones I saw with anything about them. How can a west indian team have only 1 quickish bowler? Although the pitch had probably been covered in PVA glue to hold it together; certainly was the oddest looking pitch I've seen from the boundary. Mybrough looks a real find and was impressed with Howell as a bat too. Jones was not as quick as Thursday but probably knew the pitch would be useless from a quicks point of view. Thats my cricket over for the week, great fun and a smallish but fun Antiguan crowd. Oh and Mr Cortese, 3 beers for less than £3.50 - beat that!
  22. We were very fortunate to be at the Barbados match. The Sir Viv Richards stadium was excellent and the cricket was pretty good as well. The only problem - no one gave us a rule book and there was great confussion about the 1 over play off! But we won and thats all the counts. We will be back on Saturday for the Leeward isles Match and sorry, we will be in Hamspshire shirts NOT Saints shirts! Now off to the beach!
  23. Glad to be of service!
  24. It's a RING Road. It takes 5 minutes to drive all the way round at the speed limit of 40. It takes nerves of steel to get off it once you're on it at any exit. You could watch coventry blaze ice hockey - (just off the ring road) - never has a team been named with more wishful thinking.
  25. Didn't Mike Channon say on a TV interview when asked what the best bit of Scotland was; "the southbound carriageway of the A74" (pre motorway days)
