Sky just confirmed they think we'll line up like this.
-
Looks like we may see the double pivot. Ramsdale Sugawara THB Beds Taylor Downes Big Les Dibling Fernandes Fraser Cornet
-
Disappointed to see no Lallana.
-
I think he's there mainly to review weekend games particularly Chelsea Brighton as he managed both clubs. Nothing to see here.
-
Unfortunately for us Russ thinks he can reinvent the wheel.
-
Doesn't make it any more acceptable because some other team did it. Couldn't give a monkeys what Villa do against other sides as it doesn't affect us.
-
There is nothing remotely niggly when it comes to raking the back of the achilles - it should always be an automatic booking as it is a very dangerous tackle.
-
Jason Wilcox looked to be enjoying himself watching them in that embarrassing display. Spurs totally outclassed them.

I thought Ipswich were decent yesterday. They went toe to toe with a good Villa side and were not overawed. Apart from the one obvious howler which can happen they didn't make ridiculous errors by constantly trying to play out from the back. They are well set up in a system that makes the most of what they have and look well drilled. I reckon they'll win plenty of home games and a few on the road and do enough to avoid the drop.

It seems we are in total agreement.
-
With good reason unless you think it was acceptable to play a pass like that.
-
Yes, much less risky fannying around at the back and much more front footed and keen to advance the ball quickly when in possession. They are giving themselves chances in games rather than shooting themselves in the foot like we tend to do. Much prefer to watch their style and think it is one that will probably mean they'll finish the season above us.

Ref cheating Villa out of this - Morsey already booked and commits two more offences when he should without doubt be booked and sent off. Now Ipswich equalise.
-
Seeing Che scoring and even Edozie getting one it makes you wonder why they couldn't do it so much for us.
-
This is part of playing out from the back the way we and other teams do it. The premise behind doing it properly is to draw out the opposition and then quickly occupy the space vacated. We don't do this because, as you say, we tend to play a stream of pointless passes across and in front of our penalty area, thereby negating any advantage to us. I agree that most of our issues with this style of play are down to inadequate coaching which we are stuck with unless the owners decide to make changes which I think is unlikely.
-
Playing out from the back is not sensible unless you are excellent at it. Most teams, including us, are not so it is suicidal as we see in game after game. Along with plenty of other sides we need to stop trying to do what we are incapable of doing. Until RM and his coaches accept this and change tact we will continue to be a soft touch and easy to beat.

Doubt there is any substance in this. It smacks of lazy clickbait journalism.

Don't always like him as a pundit but Gary Neville talking a lot of sense in criticising lower half teams who continually try to play out from the back. He doesn't get it nor do many of us.
-
Wolves looking like a slightly better version of us with many of our failings evident in their play.
-
Assuming Wolves lose to Liverpool and Ipswich lose to Villa a win on Monday would see us leap into 15th! We can dream 🙂

Forest fans slagging off JWP already.

You just demonstrated the limited football knowledge and the mindset of those in charge of appointing a manager for Southampton FC.

Which is nonsense really because, had Aribo cleared the ball, nobody knows how the rest of the game would have panned out. You can't isolate one incident and say, had it not happened, we would have got a point.
