Did a good job for Saints (player of the match in FA Cup final) has been released by Fulham. Would be good cover for Clyne and Shaw at either RB or CB and has decent level of PL and international experience

Skint Saint there are plenty of other Saints fans in Perth. I have had many comments when I have worn my saints shirt to the WACA or Perth Glory games. And turned out an opposing coach in my daughters u 11's football league was a Saints fan. I have seen the "letiss" number plate a couple of times and a few people with Saints car stickers. Not got to any of the SAS events yet but I think the Perth ones get a decent turn out

Or even something simple like having a collar (similar to new West Ham Home Kit) to differentiate from the Bristol city kit!
-
Don't like the home kit at all other than the socks. The away kit looks better. Unfortunately though having adidas as kit supplier means that you get a choice of templates and nothing else.

Really? He was a brilliant player and was also a model pro at a time the likes of letiss, shearer, Rod wallace were all coming through and needed protection and guidance. So yes probably too good to just be a good honest pro if that means average player not likely to get in another top flight starting 11.

and for a "youngster" he looks like he goes to the same gym as Maradona! Is he the Argentinian Matt Le Tissier when it comes to fitness levels?

Who is our most intelligent/sophisticated player?
BristolSaint replied to whelk's topic in The Saints
There was a time when we had the "most intelligent" team in the top flight as both Iain Dowie and Barry Horne were playing for saints had they both had degrees. -
The Spanish system mentioned in this article has had World Class success and the German system is not far behind. Pearce and Roy Hodgson have been compared to dinosaurs and I think that is unfair to dinosaurs. The FA has to look long at hard at a implementing a strategy to build a system and structure from the bottom upwards that develops home grown talent. The article mentions the lack of u21 players who play in the premier league. Southampton are the exception in having Shaw and Clyne as regular starters. You can guarantee that the youth set ups at Barcelona and Bayern Munich are where their respective clubs long term focus and strategies lie. Barcelona are renowned for fielding teams of home grown or academy talent. Whereas there is talk of academies in England being closed down or centralised (the Bath example for Saints baffles me - why arent academies being promoted or secured?)

Harry's old mate Mandaric is also in the news and is quoted as saying that his current club Sheff Wed are losing 5million a year. I am sure pompey fans would have this wonderful patnership back in a flash....

British Lions Tour

very one sided game last night. Poor stadium to watch Rugby in but at least a few bars/restaurants were open in Subi afterwards which makes a change from the last time i went to see an international. Not sure if there are plans to increase the NIB capacity further but last night's crowd of 35,000 shows for big games for sport played on a rectangular pitch (football/rugby) you can get the people turning up in Perth. -
How many international teams have had Saints players?
BristolSaint replied to SaintBobby's topic in The Saints
Boa Morte for Portugal or was that only after he went to Portugal? Eyal Berkovic - Israel -

fair enough skintsaint. I am only going as an early celebration for a mate's 40th. It is a shocking stadium to watch any sport, particularly rugby. Not sure if you feel the same about cricket as well? The Ashes should be a much better sporting event in Perth. -
Mega hideous! Have the club announced a date for unveiling the new kit?

When & who will be our 1st signing ?
BristolSaint replied to Saints boy in Leeds's topic in The Saints
Luke Shaw on the day of his 18th Birthday. So no signings till July. -
Like the Toronto shirt, with a bit more red in the body of the shirt and one large white stripe in the middle it would look like the "Rank Xerox/Air Florida" style Keegan era shirts and means we are almost back at stripes without being mistaken for Sunderland, Stoke, Sheff Utd or Brentford!

Anyone else planning on going to any of the games? I have a ticket for the Perth match next week. At this rate I may need my Saints red and white scarf to keep warm!

Jimmy Case was a true legend. When not playing would wear hearing aids. Can remember him always walking away from big challenges and not being able to hear the ref calling him back !
