  1. Like someone said, he is just out of prison. About 8 days ago.
  2. I saw something on ESPN last week where that Beckham goal won goal of the decade or something. Yeh, it was a good goal but it happens 6-7 times a season and it has been bettered. Leaving aside Matty who has his own collection, and in addition to all of those mentioned above, I can think of a screamer by gerrard against Boro at the Kop End, a Shearer volley against Everton, various Bergkamp efforts and my favourite non Matty one, that Cantona chip against Sunderland. His arrogant celebration tops it off.
  3. Yeh, they are and seemed a good bunch of lads as well. They were joking about the fact that there were only about 30 people there (Tower Arts Centre don't do advertising very well). Not really the sort of music I am normally in to, but will be buying their CD. Thought they played The Joiners the night before though?
  4. Isn't it Gillingham that are renowned as pikey scum? We need to know the sweeping generalisations of the lower leagues.
  5. Used to?? She's still got it. Wanted Hobart Paving for first dance when I got married, but got shouted down. Saw them at Soton Uni in about 94. Mostly just stoood sawping at Ms Cracknell
  6. Went to see Kid British in Winchesterthe other night and had not really heard them before (except Sunny Days) and they were great fun, so listening to them on Spotify
  7. I haven't really got great memories from the cup final. Think it was a bit of an anti-climax due to the team freezing/not going for it. yeh, sure, the support was excellent, but then I would expect that for a cup final. Am sure Millwall fans thought their support was excellent 12 months later. Much preferred the semi final and even the quarter final at home to Wolves which saw SMS arguably at its best Mind you, compared to the living hell that has been the following 6 years, the cup final does start to seem a slightly better day.
  8. If Pompey are not taken over this summer, I think they will be on the slippery slope, and may even slide down it faster than we have. However, I think Premiership survival has probably rubber stamped them being taken over. Again.
  9. I don't give a toss about Spurs and actually think our manufactured rivalry with them a few years ago made us look a bit small time. Our club shop selling "Be a Gooner for the Day" T-Shirts made me cringe. I don't think we have ever really registered with Spurs that much, though I did read one of their forums when we went into Admin which seemed to remid them of Rupes' claims that we were as big as them. We weren't.
  10. Same story was posted on The Ugly about a month ago. Can't remember who by but it was not one of the Ugly regulars. Not saying I don't believe it mind.
  11. Swansea, Forest & Donny all managed promotion last season playing decent football, so not sure it is all physical stuff. But I don't think our team, from 0809 would be much better than mid table at best.
  12. Not too much gloating on Barca OS. "both teams went back to what they are best at: Madrid playing tough physical football, Barça relying on skill."
  13. No, but Madrid came out to play, and after 17 wins out of 18, who can blame them?. Really enjoyed watching that tonight. Am sure the worlds press will be comparing it to our 6-3 V United.... if Barca hadn't been trying to score the perfect goal again it would have been 10.
  14. Managed to get to a pub on our coach toSwansea (albeit at Port Talbot) but it was still an utterly **** day. Nothing was good about it
  15. Donny was a great day out. really welcoming pub & locals and a pretty easy win. Who would have thought what was to come and how far ahead of us they would be after that day? But Derby away was a fantastic performance in great weather with every body just the right shade of drunk .
  16. It is a different option rather than madness! I think it was about 5 mins on the reliable, cheap & IMO safe metro. Have stayed in quite a few places there, and that was the one that was ideal for a weekend with mates. But it is just an option. have stayed in some right holes on and around the Ramblas, and some top places near Miontjuic & Camp Nou, but when I went on a lads weekend, the one in the business district worked best.
  17. Stayed there a few times, and cheapest place I found was Amrey Diagonal (booked through Expedia), which is in the business district and about 4 stops out from the centre. It was walking distance to Sagrida Familia and right by their version of London's 'Gherkin'. Including flights to Gerona, the 3 nights cost us aboiut £120 each on 2 sharing. Nothing wrong with the hotel, it was just where they cater more for business, at weekends it is empty. not much in the immediate area, but the public transport is so good that it isn't a problem.
  18. Fantastic match to watch (in between flickong over to Barca game) but wish it had not been ITV and their amateur commentators. Can't help but shout abuse at them. Hopefully a United Barca final for me
  19. I think the cities of Liverpool, Nottingham & Sheffield have all observed, or are going to observe minutes silence this week so there may not be anything at Hillsborough this Saturday. Incidentally, all clubs had a minutes silence for the 10th anniversary. think ours was before that 3-3 draw at home to Blackburn. But I don't think it shold have been all clubs for the 20th.
  20. Wonder if there are any plans to show the TV drama by Jimmy McGovern (or was it Barry Hines?) about the tragedy. It is some of the most powerful TV I have ever seen. I still find it difficult to watch the footage of what happened that day, or read the reports.. Each time I have been to Anfield since, I have looked at the Shrine and seen the list of names, which mostly seemed to be young lads between 16 -35. which pretty much covers my ages between then & now. Also remember going up to Sheffield Wednesday on semi final weekend the year after. My mate & I were the normal gobby 16 year olds at an away game, then walked down the steps in our stand and looked down at the Leppings Lane terrace. It shut us both up straight away as we pictured what had happened. Hope generations to come remember what happened, and study the cover up aftewards.
  21. Think it was someone who worked at NHS somewhere iin Winch who Emailed Lowe complaining about something. Think Lowe contacted his employers to say that he was using company email to send personal notes in work time or something. Along those lines but don't take any of it as gospel!
  22. I will be watching it and hope United stuff the bin dippers. Quite like united. And willw atch any football going at any time
  23. I think he is a very good forward who as someone as said, has been under-rated since he left us. think he will do well at Stoke as they will play to his strengths. I also think he was a fantastic defender for us, who helped out as the first line of defence (ably assisted by brett), and was very good when he came back to help out (freak goal at Derby apart!) Seems a top bloke as well, bar a few mistakes made a few years back
  24. II think season ticket holders have a right to moan if the club were to do this, but as is shown above, most of the ones on here choose not to and see it for the greater good. I include myself in that number. Am not convinced it would work still mind.
  25. I actually think Barca have laboured the last few games, but are still winning at a stroll. Messi is just ridiculous though. And Xavi, Iniesta, Eto'o and henry aren't too shabby either. Puyol at the back holds it all together and I can't believe United let Pique go. They are a joy to watch and would recommend anycody to go there for the weekend and watch them. Don't know if they would beat United, but I hope it is the final.
