Still waiting. I assume I'm not the only one. No need to panic yet, I'm sure.

Bournemouth League Cup **Ticket Details Announced**
Blandford saint replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
There are lots of people who go to matches on their own and only see their football mates at matches. They might have had great banter with them for years but only talk to them about football and know them by their first names - they are not in a position to arrange to sit together for cup matches. Therefore, season ticket holders should be able to buy their own seats so this is not a problem -football is supposed to be a social event, after all. If they sorted the flaming official website out properly, so it was quick and easy to order tickets where you wanted them, it would be very much appreciated and save a lot of grief heading in their direction. -
The 20% they have to come up with will be difficult to raise -it's not over yet. There won't be much of a team left. Shocking, though, the way they've been treated compared to poor old Salisbury City.

For every "problem" there is a solution.....
Blandford saint replied to MarkSFC's topic in The Saints
If you are going to most away games, you can afford a season ticket, but choosing not to do so - why get so agressive about it? Most of us have choices on where our priorities lie financially. If you are that strapped that it's a choice of paying your rent or buying a ST, its probably best not to buy one anyway. But there are some people who come on this site boasting about how many pints they've had before a game then say they can't afford a ST - it's a questions of choice, just don't expect other people to get upset about your "predicament". -
Can't face trying to order my STs on-line yet. Have to pysche myself up and have a spare few hours and be in extremely calm mood before I can face it. None of the old boys who sit around me in the Kingsland have computers - have the club thought about actually communicating with their customers who don't have the facilities to go on-line?

Does anyone know whether they ran this competition in the other regions, and if Ricky was still top? Be interesting to know how he compares with top players like Drogba and other players who could really leather it like Shearer.

The fact that this is in the Mail means that I won't get too stressed about it. Only flick through this "newspaper" when visiting the parents, but have seen enough to know that they work under the premise that if they put in 20 rumours, 1 of them might turn out to be correct. Pardew certainly should not be replaced. He wasn't able to bring in who he wanted at the start of the season because he joined so late, and we've seen the excellence of his signings in January. Fonte oozes class, Barnard scored 25 goals this season, and Puncheon in the League One team of the year. If he had this team in pre-season, we might well have asked why we didn't make the play-offs, but not in the current circumstances. Also, if we'd been in League 2 or the Championship we would still be in the top 6.

Strachan - keep the players -sack the coaches!
Blandford saint replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
I think you are being totally unrealistic. Even Barcelona have had matches when they've had problems breaking down defences, even with Messi playing. A plus 36 goal difference tells you that Pardew does have more than Plan A. There are plenty of times when he moved around the personnel and changed tactics - haven't you been watching? -
Maik Taylor is well past his best now, and I've seen him make more howlers than Kelv has during the last couple of seasons. He's been really excellent this year and I can't understand why some suppporters have such a vindictive attitude towards him. They are quite happy to compare our League One players with other League One players, except KD, who they expect to be Premiership standard for some reason.

What do P****y owe us £35 thousand for?
Blandford saint replied to Saint Johnno's topic in The Saints
Whatever happens, seems they're guaranteed to start with minus points in the Championship next season - could end up going straight through. Why would any buy them??????? -
If West Ham do go down, they'll be skint, and the prospect of working with Sullivan and Gold will put many decent managers off - constantly being criticised personally in all the tabloids and SKY. Their budget will be cut substantially - it will just be as attractive as managing us once we got relegated to the Championship. Even with the increased parachute payments, the debt is still enormous. By the way, Alan Pardew is from Wimbledon -he's not a ****ney and was not a West Ham supporter - where have some of you got this from?
-
If Championship teams had the money to sign Fonte, why was there no apparent interest in the January window? Championship teams have spent very little in the transfer market for the last couple of seasons. Premiership clubs only sign teenage prospects from League One clubs, not 28 year old strikers -since when has that worked? Even top Championship strikers have really struggled to make any impact in the Premier League. Jason Scotland looked great last year, but has scored 1 goal this season at Wigan. Earnshaw has always been prolific at Championship level but a failure in the top division. If our best players want to get up the leagues AND still play regularly, their best chance is with Saints.

Could the cups have dented promotion this season..?
Blandford saint replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
Seeing as the FA Cup, with one exception, is usually won by a team in the top 4 (this has been going on for many years), and Burnley went far in both cups when they got promoted last year, surely the evidence is that good teams win games. I don't think there is any suggestion that Chelsea's league form has been affected by them getting to the Cup Final. -
If I hadn't read (some) of this thread I would never have know that NC was supposed to have been booed. We were sat just in front of MLT and the Sky media box and didn't hear a thing. At least our seasts weren't too far back so I could actually watch the match rather than the big screen. Problem is now people are trying to read every little nuance and expression from AP and NC, putting 2 + 2 together and coming up with 5.

So who's received their wembley tickets in the post yet?
Blandford saint replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in The Saints
Mine turned up yesterday - they were ordered via online sales on the first day. However, the whole process has created far too much stress for everyone waiting. I can't remember it being anywhere near this bad for the Cup Final at the Millenium Stadium, but I wouldn't be suprised if they were better organised than Wembley. It does involve the FA, after all. When I've ordered tickets for cup games from the club the normal service has been excellent - tickets have turned up next day. It's probably a combination of lots of temporary staff and Wembley being involved that has created all the headaches, plus using TNT rather than the much abused but still superior service of Royal Mail. -

Blandford saint replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in The Saints
Generally, it seems that those of us who ordered earliest are the least likely to have received them. Still waiting for my 4 £44 tickets ordered on the first day. -
He obviously had to change it last night - it wasn't working, and we still needed Rickie's height and vision. Could have tried taking off Puncheon, as he was really poor last night, and put Papa wide right, then if it didn't work put him in the middle. Overall, can't blame him for changing it.

Would this ex Saints side be competative in Premier?
Blandford saint replied to Weston Saint's topic in The Saints
I would rather have Oakley in midfield - still performing near the top of the Championship. Why would you have Scott MacDonald (never made it at Premier League level, now at 'Boro) rather than Kevin Davies (outstanding for Bolton yet again this season)? Beatts would be preferable, also. Wouldn't have Quashie back for a gift - he's a loser. -
What you also have to bear in mind are the number of points needed to reach the play-offs. If we'd been in the Championship with the same total we would still be in easy reach of the top 6. It is highly unusual for teams outside the top 3 positions to be picking up wins so consistently - it would put a totally different complexion on things. As they say on the BBC blog, it's the strongest League One for years. Having seen Peterborough and S****horpe, there is no way they would have got out of our division this season. I'm constantly amazed at how quickly some people expected us to turn the club around - they obviously have no experience themselves of turning around an ailing business. The football we've seen in the last 2 home games has been exhilarating and those not at St. mary's lately have really been missing out. There are no reasons to whinge about how we are now progressing, it's just taken slightly longer than some of the most impatient people find acceptable. Does make you wonder about their own work experiences. By the way, Leeds have been down 3 years and are by no means certain to go up, same happened to Forest and Sheff Wed - it takes time, but you can see we are heading in the right direction.

Interesting bit was the link to who readers thought had been the best player at Palace this season - 30% chose Fonte, next best Ambrose on 27%.
-
I can understand why the club have done it. It's not just at football, but the way people like to run their life in general nowadays and always expect any business to cope. Our customers are getting worse every year at planning ahead, panicky phone calls demanding chocolates in Scotland the same day, can we pack 5,000 boxes of chocs today for delivery tomorrow? We're fulfilling thousands of internet orders today for tomorrow, but this service comes at a premium price. If too many people turn up on the day at the last minute then extra staff have to be paid for. Nowadays, it's so easy to buy in advance, if people expect to turn up at the last minute then it seem reasonable enough for them to pay an extra £2. Hopefully, as we work our way back up the leagues, there will be few good seats left on the day so people will get into the habit of buying in advance, like they did in our Premier League days.

Does this happen to anyone else, or is it just me?
Blandford saint replied to Thorpe-le-Saint's topic in The Saints
We own an excellent wine storage fridge from Liebherr. Absolutely brilliant - holds several hundred bottles, and each shelf is a different temperature so that you can store every kind the correct way. -
How many League One strikers aged 27 have signed for Premier League clubs? And played regularly? He's great for us at this level, but is he better than Saha, Yakubu, etc.? I think you will find that he would be well off the pace at that level.

Championship clubs have had plenty of time to buy Lambert, if they were interested. Why didn't they buy him in the summer, after scoring over 30 goals last season? I just can't see him moving when things are going so well.
