Perhaps the reason we haven't signed anyone yet is because we have approached some pretty ambitious targets, and they are waiting to see if they get offers from Premiership clubs? If we wanted to sign League One players, it would probably have been done & dusted pretty quickly (eg, Bournemouth having already lost a couple of their better players) BUT, if we went for some pretty impressive players, they have plenty of time to play one club off against another and wait for the best deal. You see this every year when out of contract players start having to lower their expectations. Some of the prices quoted for Championship strikers are frankly ridiculous, especially considering the level of debt most clubs are carrying.

Agree he was not fit most of the time. Which is why his father shouldn't have played him for 90 minutes in most games. Any logical person would have played him and Matt Oakley in fits and bursts, so when Oakley was fully recovered from his cruciate injury he could have resumed his regular place in midfield. I won't forgive REdknapp for the way he treated old stalwarts of our relegation battles like Doddsy and Oakley - it really seemed like he wanted us to go down, then and it still defies logic, some of the decisions he made. Still, it eventually got rid of Lowe, that was the only silver lining. Still don't want to be reminded of that season too often.

I always feel safer with the 2 Dans at full back, both very steady defenders who keep calm. Harding is also supremely fit - he keeps bombing the full length of the pitch, even in the 90th minute.
-
Still thought that there were too many crosses coming in our box, particularly in the first half, that I'm sure Harding and Butterfield would have cut out. Saw Jaidi having a few words with both full-backs at times. However, generally a very good, stress free performance. Jaidi looks like the ex-Premiership player that he is. Lambert's passing was brilliant. Let's hope that Adam is fit - we need him desperately.

Just taking those early chances seems to make the biggest difference with us. if we score before the match has settled down we can really open up any team in this division. The longer the game goes on without scoring, we struggle, doesn't matter if we're playing the top team or the bottom team.

Cortese is taking all the aggravation - they don't have anything to worry about as long as they trust him to do a good job. At the moment there is no reason to suppose he's not. I'm sure Cortese has found that the players we deem good enough to improve the team are usually already playing higher division football - promotion is needed to make us a more attractive prospect.

It was Chris Waddle who was saying Oaks should have been called up for England, so no bias there. I remember him being rested in the thrashing away v Arsenal before the cup final - the midfield just didn't function the same without him. Why is it often the most loyal players who get treated badly? Unbelievable the comparison between the way he was treated and some of the idiots who replaced him.

Makes you wonder who they are going to for financial advice. They seem to think that kind of money will go on rolling in forever. Still, it is astonishing that they've got themselves in this situation whilst still playing.
-
All very well to drop him if we had a viable alternative - we don't. With Lee out injured and Connolly only fit for cameos, Nigel hasn't many options. I know he got criticised for not bringing on subs on Saturday, but there aren't the options on the bench that we had last season. Generally happy with Cortese, but one question I would have to ask of him is why is the attacking part of the squad weaker than last season? We're really missing Waigo's unpredictability and Antonio's power and pace.

Kelv is not reaching the end of his career. Look at the top keepers in the premiership - Van der Saar (40), Brad Freidel (39) David James playing for England at 39. KD has a good few years left in him. It would be rank bad management to drop him, and I'm sure NA won't do it unless he has a succession of howlers.
-
If the rest of the team made as few mistakes as Kelv, we would be top of the league.

I remember us doing an on-line survey on the official site about purchasing tickets online last season. We all seemed to say the same things about wanting to choose our own seats, etc. but I never heard of any feedback from the club or any intention to do anything about it.

I'd play Dickson in the cup, but not drop Harding for the League. Dickson had a very dodgy first half against Bournemouth in the League Cup and got taken off at half time. Harding has never been dominated by the guy he was marking in the same way. To strengthen the midfield in away games, we could always drop Puncheon, put Lallana on the right and Dickson on the left in front of Harding.

My pet hate are the three-quarter trousers - what's the point? They always seem to be worn by the most overweight people and are totally unflattering - makes your bum look even bigger - why would you want to do that? One advantage of winter is that they will disappear for a few months. Still, cleanliness is the most important thing - guy just behind me in the Kingland looks like he's been eating, sleeping and drinking in the same set of clothes since we moved into St. Mary's.

I'm sure I remember being told that hUrlock was inside for something a lot more serious involving violence a while before we took him on. Didn't Pericard pretend that his father-in-law was driving his car, as he would have been banned yet again?
-
Always waiting for his next calamitous error. I don't want him back.

Do SISA or The Trust speak for you, yes or no

No from me as well. These few self-important individuals lost their relevance when we got rid of Branfoot, and that was a very long time ago. Anybody know how many members they are claiming to have? -
Generally, Solent try to stick to what they know, or have been told by people involved such as the S****horpe chairman - that is, apart from Dave Merrington - he's quite happy to spout rumour as fact and keep repeating it. Personally, I would like him to retire as he has his own personal agenda and is particularly thick!
-
Agree with CaptainChris. Staff morale at the training ground is a total irrelevance and red herring. The whole point of the entire set up of the club is to make the first team succcessful and achieve results. If some lower-ranking coach is upset with Pardew he can leave - Pardew was the important man doing a good job. If we were told that Ancelotti had left Chelsea because some of the youth team managers didn't get on with him, we would laugh in disbelief - it would have no credibility. I remember Les Reed looking well out of his depth and failing miserably as caretaker at Charlton - reminded me of the Stuart Gray/Steve Wigley situation.
-
I can understand Harding getting frustrated with him - he just wasn't putting in the effort that Dan was. Far too languid - vast improvement needed before I'll be happy.
-
Exciting stuff - hopefully he will shut a few idiots up. I sit next to someone with the positive outlook of Alpine (please pity me) who can only see good things in the opposition, so perhaps a new signing will give me a bit of respite from the whingeing.
-
Used to really enjoy this site with insights about training, takeovers, signings, reports on away games, etc. but it has become rather tedious because of a small number of rude, negative, abusive posters who would all seem to hope we end up in the Zamaretto League with Salisbury. They don't reflect the people who I sit with in the Kingsland - probably because we are actually watching every match and can see positives in performances even if we lose. It's the same handful of whingers, most of whom have not attended the matches so don't know what they are talking about, who are making what used to be a good forum, extremely boring and depressing.
-
Tommy's not still there - he is now assistant to Paul Sturrock at Southend, who Salisbury are playing in a friendly later this week. Basically, once you've dropped down to this level, they couldn't afford to pay them - we know what it's like. Couldn't really afford to pay them at Conference level, unless a sugar daddy pays the wages, so could hardly do it now. This is what happens when a sugar daddy withdraws his interest.
-
Heard Begbie Traynor put in a really high bid to handle the admin. They thought that there was a good chance that they wouldn't get paid so didn't really fancy it anyway. Hope AA suffers that fate!
