Most of the anti Illingsworth comments appear to be vitriolic and nothing more than sour grapes or irrational hatred. He is not a self proclaimed voice of the fans but has been an active and visible Saints fan for quite some time. He has every right to voice his opinion and the only people that seem to think he is speaking for them are the ones getting all frothed up on internet message boards. If you don't like it then put yourselves forward. I can promise you that there will never be one person that will be able to speak for every single fan though. Personally I think there are people more worthy of our contempt!

He holds responsibility yes. But so too does Lowe. He has been the driving force behind the appointments of Poortvliet etc. And the ire of the fans is at Lowe first and foremost (rightly or wrongly). Nothing is going to change that.

You're right, it wouldn't guarantee anything. But it might at least allow the fans as a whole to get back behind the team. I think we'd stand more chance of staying up than we do at the moment, because the off-field stuff is only going to carry on. Lowe didn't ever really go though did he? Certainly not a clean break and his presence in the background was always felt imo. We need a clean sweep really but sadly it is not going to happen and I fear we are stuck now on one course only.

Yes, and the way forward is surely to address the cause of the negativity? It is unfortunate that so many people are upset at one person (and Wilde to a certain extent) but there really is only one way now to solve the problem. It is even more unfortunate that the solution is apparently not even being considered by the people that count.

Disagree. He's one of the best crossers of the ball and is wasted at left back. Should be left midfield and utilised cutting in from there to shoot. He's been mismanaged by every manager he's played under IMO and a real shame. He'll move on in January I reckon and show what he can do at a club that likes to play him in his best position.

I agree that it isn't all his fault, but he was certainly getting a lot of stick from a section of fans when he was on a train with us to the FA Cup Semi Final...didn't recognise him stood next to me until a barrage of abuse was hurled at him. He just smirked!
