  1. Not sure why Pellegrini keeps getting mentioned to be honest. Doesn't fit our profile and Guan said he would be shocked if he was in the frame.
  2. My personal opinion is that both Pochettino and Koeman are more exciting, inspiring leaders than Moyes and as much of the narrative on here is that we always get someone better when a good employee leaves, I don't think Moyes is even on the same level as Koeman or Poch personally. A largely drab style, reluctance to give young players a chance (continually farmed Barkley out on loan when they had dross playing each week) and I think the era of dour Scots was in its pomp a few years back. Moyes is probably the only name seriously mentioned that I would be actively disappointed with. The others (Howe, AVB, De Boer, even Rowett) I could all understand.
  3. You should to educate yourself about what other Clubs fans perceive their situation to be. https://www.grandoldteam.com/2016/06/06/assuming-control-first-100-days/ No idea of the accuracy but its written by their version of Guan, the person who said Koeman was going there when many on here still thought it was media/twitter/ITK drivel. So that gives it a slight veracity.
  4. PL means at this moment whilst Celtic and Feynoord are undoubtedly bigger than us it is also a no brainer to want to move here (or even Bournemouth). Fonte decided he thought a step down would make it easier to make a step up later and he was right. But not many times we have flexed our muscles in the UK market. There isn't value in the UK player wise anyway but we know we aren't going to take one of Everton, West Ham etcs best players because they are bigger clubs.
  5. Bit of both I think. Whether you believe it or not, this is interesting background: https://www.grandoldteam.com/2016/06/06/assuming-control-first-100-days/ Definitely exciting times to be an Everton fan, if absolutely no guarentee of anything.
  6. I'm not sure they do seeing as every time an Everton fan has said so people have bitten back about it. Besides if you accept they are bigger then that Telegraph article is just saying the same: bigger teams feed off smaller tes as has ever been the case. Plus richer teams feed off poorer teams and people within the game move for money, most of which is held by the bigger, richer, more immediately ambitious sides. Don't see whats to argue with personally. We know where we are.
  7. Just said its hard to argue (which is my opinion). If the article is so wide of the mark then feel free to share why, ideally coherently.
  8. Seems nobody thinks he has some valid points then haha. Hopefully we do the same as them and get our first choice. Everton are a bigger team than Saints though. Not by much, but in the West Ham/Newcastle sort of bracket for me.
  9. This won't go down well here but hard to argue in many ways: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/06/08/ronald-koeman-appointment-will-be-seen-as-day-everton-banished-u/
  10. Agree. If we really rate Howe as highly as has been suggested then I would be happy with him and certainly over Moyes. Fans get excited having a Manager who is on the upward curve rather than one of the merry go round boys. Key isn't who we want though, its who Saints and who its their criteria which we don't know. I really hope we get our no1 choice as we did with Pochettino and Koeman.
  11. £12m Wanyama £20m Forster £35m VVD Total - £67m - reckon thats about right (VVD maybe a bit overpriced) assuming there are no fee related clauses. Also assumes those players would be interested in moving, and whether Everton can demonstrate theybare in fact a better bet than Saints. Would be very suprised and disappointed (Vic aside) if any of those joined Everton this summer.
  12. We are "hopeful" as it all happens as well, which is nice and optimistic. But to be fair we have marched on til now and hopefully can keep doing so.
  13. Its been being negotiated for a couple of months so too late. Have to wonder how scouts ever thought he would meet the physical demands of the PL. Fine to be small or slight but you need to be able to use your body like Silva or get a lot stronger quickly like Mane has. Looks like we get most of our money back so no real bother and you have to take the odd low price risk.

http://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/2016/06/08/soccer/yoshida-unsure-of-future-with-southampton/ Hope he stays but feel he is more of a 4th choice CB for a good PL team than third. Not sure Gardos is any better though. Perhaps if one of those leaves it gives more room for maneouvre.

  16. Nobody sane at Saints will be considering Neville or Giggs.
  17. In the case of VVD he had 4 years left of his old contract anyway so hardly likely Saints would have inserted a clause that allowed him to leave relatively easily - thats usually what happens when you are desperate for someone to sign an extension to stop them leaving for free.
  18. After Pochettino and Koeman, Moyes would be **** and a definite step backwards. We have been in the top 8 of the 'best league in the world' for the last three season so lets show a little ambition. If anyone on here had said a few months ago "lets replace Koeman with Moyes" they would (rightly) have been ridiculed. He would be a step down in every sense.
  19. If Howe came here and did a great job why would he not be looking at it as a stepping stone. If we get a really good Manager it will be a stepping stone for them because we are a self described "showcase club". Better to get someone who succeeds for 2 years than is mediocre for 5.
  20. Pretty obvious Gallagher isn't good enough and Hesketh not physically capable of sustained PL football. The use of Reed is the only thing you could level at Koeman re use of young players. He isn't going to pick someone who is inferior to a senior player.
  21. Surely longevity isn't that important, its how good a job they do? If Rowett came in and did superbly well there is no more chance of him staying longer than anyone else. Much better to have someone poached after 2 years than sacked after 3.
  22. It won't. Spurs have been told Callum Wilson and Berahino would each cost £25m. No way we would sell Mane for less than £40m. He is the best of all the attacking players we have had since being back in the PL.
