Austin story a load of rubbish. Swindon Local Paper said on twitter he did a double training session there today.

Yep, it said, "BBC Radio Solent also understands that Saints are keen to sign Peterborough striker Craig Mackail-Smith before the end of the transfer window."

Did anyone hear exactly what they said on Solent?

I really hope that we keep him for the rest of this season even if it is on loan. He is playing so well it would be crazy to lose him when we don't have to.

Solent often have an inside track from the club, what exactly did they say? Mqybe it could be tied up sooner rather than later otherwise it goes against the private discussions policy NA often mentions.

Would be a great signing. Blackpool and Leicester have been linked recently. Barry Fry said they have rejected numerous bids for him as they want 2m upfront with 1m add ons. He is out of contract in the summer though so sure a deal can be done. Good goalscorer!

We try to move forward but always get stuck in the mud of the past. We need to create new history but it will be harder if people like LM continue to swipe at the new regime!

Could certainly do with a couple of signings to freshen things up, haven't really had that for a while bar Chaplow. Attacking wise our bench was poor, no real impact player with pace. Puncheon must be gone, maybe Conolly too. Interested to hear what NA says....oh and we can't score without Lallana- shows what a threat he is!

People who think he should leave his window have you watched Saints lately? He is brilliant, we need to keep him for our promotion charge!

Very confident he will be here in Jan. Why let him leave now? It would cost a lot to replace him and he is enjoying playing games!

The Swindon writer from their local paper just said on twitter: I have been told no approach from Saints and no bid of any substance whatsoever for Austin.

Everything happens in the last week. Teams sit on the bids to see if higher ones come in or if they can persuade their players to stay. people know we have money so put prices up etc. I am sure NC has it under control.

On the whole not many deals have been done. A lot of brinkmanship, clubs waiting for better offers to come which half the time don't materialise. Be patient.

I think Burnley is more likely. They still have parachute payments, and Eddie Howe was a huge fan of Austin, had him training at AFCB for 6 weeks before he joined Swindon because of Bmths transfer embargo.

There were of course other factors but there is no doubt he is our most important player and if he is out for say 6 weeks or longer we will need to bring someone in to have an impact. I don't think the current squad can cover for him if we want to be in the top 2.
