If well sell Pelle it will be for relative peanuts (less than £10m) so the benefit isn't financial. What exactly IS the benefit? We don't have to sell him. I just see that we lose a player who over the last two seasons has scored goals and always been our first or second choice striker.

The whole meltdown thing is old news. It was two summers ago and we lost our excellent Manager and 5 good players. I'm quite relaxed about Saints, think we will replace Koeman and are doing well. But if there is a news article I read that says one of our players might leave I will post it for the majority of people on here whonare interested in everything Saints related, not just the good stuff. I would rephrase that before ALWAYS_SFC comes and tells you off for saying you don't "know" that. I am sure Bertrand is one of the players we will be looking to sign an improved contract and he still has quite a lot left on his current one. That said, would be nice to see Liverpool sign a LB. There aren't loads of quality ones around and Guan did say Liverpool like RB.

Redmond IMO has JWP syndrome. Obvious ability and excels at Eng U21 level but not always in the Norwich team and is very inconsistent and struggles to influence games enough. Wouldn't be a terrible signing but I'm not convinced by him particularly.

Haha. They also scouted him before we got him. Guess they have more offensive full backs than just about anyone. If he toughens up over the summer (in the three weeks he has off) he could end up doing ok but was very inconsistent last season.

Not sure what you found to be especially negative. I mentioned that a few candidates have seemingly ruled themselves out which is true, emphasis on 'seemingly'. Plus that it is an important appointment which is also true. And that if we get it wrong the £5m we got for Koeman will be irrelevant - which is true. That Pereira seems a good fit but is still a gamble as has only managed in second tier European leagues at sides that win them very regularly - which is true. Play the post not the poster. I'm excited about who we get and relaxed about Koeman going. But if for example we want Howe as no1 choice and he isn't interested then for the Club that would be a blow as there would obviously be a preference to get your preferred candidate. That is all.

He seems quite 'Saints' but a gamble really as never worked in a top league and has succeeded at the bigger teams in the leagues he has managed in where he has mostly had far better players than the opponents (for a short timeperiod never staying anywhere for more than 2 years). Lots of people were delighted to get £5m for Koeman and starting saying how a few players didn't like him etc but £5m is peanuts if we make the wrong appointment so its a big, big decision for the Club and I hope they can choose from their main choices rather than having to go lower down the list. Pochettino and Koeman both genuinely seemed to be first picks so I hope that continues.

Indeed. And Mane compares well in goals/assists versus others in his sort of role/position: Hazard, De Bruyne, Firmino, Sanchez, Welbeck, Martial, Arnautovic, Zaha, Andre Ayew, Lamela etc
