find a buyer and get beat by us. I dont want them to go bust, just suffer as slow, painful descent back to their natural position of being a league below us as possible. I want them to feel as much pain as possible, to really, really hurt but not to die. Just to keep stuttering on, in their **** little stadium, in their **** little city with their **** little fans.

waving notes at them whilst singing "lets all have a whipround" and the song Pompeys going down with no money in the bank should suffice...

I agree we should ban it. We should also ban The Rickie Lambert song as Liverpool have a version similar for Torres. We should stop singing come on you reds as every club sings come on you xxxxx this has ne relevance to South coast football as reds could also be anyone from Man Utd to VT FC. "lets all have a Disco" we'll you can **** off with that on too, how has a disco got anything to do with South Coast football? The simply song of "Southampton" should stop to as although the club is based in the city they actually represent the area which also covers Eastleigh, Winchester, New Forest etc so is not really right to limit singing to just one city and alienate the other boroughs. Also Spurs now sing "oh when the spurs go marching in" How is this relevant to Spurs, shall we petition the FA to get this song outlawed at WHL? Its disgusting. All anti Pompey songs can go., sick vile, not related to us and for the narrow minded bigots with no idea about football. So with all that gone we are left with............Well i suppose you can clap when we score if you like.

what about the printing cost of tickets, cleaners for after the game, cost of electricity for lighting around the stadium and the PA announcers, and the free tickets given out for the half time half time "entertainment", photogropher for the match day programme needs to be paid as would have been working yesterday and i also wonder if the TV's in the concourses have been paid for yet or are they rented with a weekly cost of 20p each. Factor all these things and you have figure a lot lower than your initial estimate saintkipttanui, in fact its a wonder we broken even with all those outgoings. Next time you try to make a point make sure you factor in EVERY possible equation and give us a figure to the nearest £1 or you will be shown of up the ignoramous that you clearly are.

Absolutely spot on mate. I'm sure people weren't saying he was "****e" when he was scoring against Watford in the cup semi final at Villa Park. Seems to me a lot people on this forum have short memories, no idea about football or an understanding of the game and your opinion only counts if it agrees with the happy clappy majority.

Quite true, wonder if this was the case with us with Strachan, as great a job as he did for us hecouldn't have done any worse than his predessor to start. Although we were starting a new era at SMS expectations were still low with a lower midtable finish viewed as success so anything about that would have made him royalty in fans eyes. When he left it was quite clear the team would soon need major rebuilding work in the not to distant future. He knew that he wouldn't get significant £££ to improve it, wonder if Lowe had said, stay for another three years and we will give you £30m to spend in the summer if he would have changed his mind.

Another Saints Manager gets new job in Premier League
Turkish replied to John B's topic in The Saints
Gray didn't have a good end of season, it was average at best, he got the job on the basis that we beat Man U (we always did at the Dell) and Arsenal last two games. Yes the players liked him but there is a big difference between liking and respecting. Gray was and still is a first class coach but is not manager material just like Wigley. Also apparantly Wadsworth was hated by the players. We were simply awful in that game against Arsenal, not just in the performance but in the attitude of the players, there was no belief there. I thought it was a mistake at the time and so it was proved and that is not with the benifit of hindsight. Rumour has it Moyes wanted the job but was unhappy that he couldn't bring his own people in. -
I thought everyone thinks James is **** and Morgan overrated? Anyway, he was clearly assessing the squad as he'd only been here a matter of weeks, we were doing our preseason during the first 6 or 7 games, agree with the guy who said he was asking the players playing to show him what they had. cant speak for Huddersfield but i was at Swindon and we were truely awful, telling that as has been pointed out, not a lot of the team that played then have made much of a contribution since. Lets face it, the team that was here at the start of the season would have been in a serious relegation battle.
-
Not always the case though is it, how player players burst onto the seen in a blaze of glory and disappear. There have been so many over the years who have been brilliant for half a season, raved about then disppeared. Age doesn't automatically guarentee improvement, attitude of the individual and coaching & training are probably the two most important factors.

I heard from a very reliable source that Strachan didn't rate Davies because the thought he was thick! Apparantly Strachan would try to teach him various positional play, runs, movement and tactics and Davies just couldn't grasp it and he ran out of patience with him. Personally i always liked Davies, thought he was a decent player and as it has proven at Bolton. One thing Strachan did do was improve all the players fitness levels and work ethic which is automatically going to improve your game, not convinced he improved that many players technically though. Pardew seems to be a very good coach from what i have seen, as mentioned Lambert, Schneiderlin & Llana all look better under him than previous managers, i would also include LLoyd James in this, people give him a lot of stick but he's a solid player every squad needs and think he looks better than last season.

Spot on, there no way Ward failed a medical as according to reports he had said his goodbyes and Coventry, Coleman told the team after their game tuesday that he had left and he was waiting to here where to go to meet up with the Saints team. To be fair to Ward if you'd left one job and the day before you were due to start your new employer turned round and said actually we've taken someone else on in your place so forget it, you'd be pretty livid, luckily for him he's still got a contract with Coventry so he's not left unemployed but you get the point. Coleman is acting like a bit of a ***** though. On the subject of Drogba didn't we have a deal agreed for him and Malouda for £3.5m but Lowe wouldn't sanction the transfer for some reason? We could have only sold the pair on for £35m a few years later! Adebeyor was the one who he said he had an attitude, to be fair he has but dont most top players? How many nice blokes do you know who are at the top of their game, few and far between.

The point is that there as no story. It was based on a rumour which had no substance to it and was denied the very day they printed it. If you read the article the reason they gave for him to stay , that he is playing well here and happy, whereas most of the rest of it leaned towards what he would gain by leaving. Was a **** article, as usual.
-
usual crap from the echo. A double page space filler based on nothing but a rumour. Hope they were embarassed that the same day they printed it Houghton came out and said there was no truth in the rumour. Reasons why he should go and stay. Gave more reasons as to why he should go though, including a bizarre one that Newcastle players are well supported by their fans and well paid. Thats right, because we didn't treble his wages when he came and the fans hate him here dont they. The article wasn't worth the two pages it was written on, which is often the case these days with the echo.

no, he says in the position he was looking to strengthen, at the back. He has said before he wants a midfielder, so i think we will see one.
-
Thomas is on his way, interesting comment from Pardew onsaturday about having three good centre backs. Assuming this is Fonte, Jaidi, the othe must be Perry as Thomas seems behind them in the pecking order. Clearly Pardew doesn't rate him as a CB.

Would signings in January strengthen the team or upset the balance?
Turkish replied to Son of Bob's topic in The Saints
What a silly question this is. Why on earth would signing a quaility proven player be a negative thing. do you think the top players are upset at Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City or utd if they sign a player for £50m which is going to make a real difference to the team. Or should we just keep signing squad players, no better than we have so we end up with a big squad full of crap players, but hey, at least Paul Wooton will be happy. if a player doesn't like it when a club signs someone who is going to dramatically improve the first teams standards and ability to actually win something then he doesn't deserve to be here. If anything it should inspire those around to realise the club is going places and they need to maintain or improve their own performance if they want to stay a part of it. And if Paul Wooton, Matt Paterson and lee Molenyx dont like, they need to start looking at where Rochdale is as this is where they will end up -
you must have been watching a different player then, from what i remember he was alwasys injured, only played a handful of games, none of which he he shone in and only scored one or two. Shame as i rated him before he joined us but hardly a bargain at £1m. His biggest success in Southampton was nailing a really fit girl who worked behind the bar in the Lizard Lounge at the time he was here.

We are not good enough, we haven't beaten any of the top 6 in the league this season, speaks for itself in terms of what would happen in the plays offs. We night get there but we wont go up. We cant just win a game 1-0, or get a lead and shut up shop, we need to score at least two to give ourselves a chance of winning as we always look likely to conceed. Strengthening the defence is a priority. Right back and Centre back with pace required. That said Pardew has done an excellent job in building the team he has, given the short time frame he had to work in so remains to be seen what he has up his sleeve in January. We should not be disapointed with not making the play offs though, given what went on in the summer and the fact its a new team. If we can add 3-4 quality signings, two of which should be in defence with a striker, Jackson and Barnard have been mentioned, i'd also like to see Jason Puncheon from MK Dons in a saints shirt, then we wil definately go up next season, probably as champions.

Miss kelly Brook, shes pretty amazing

undoubtably Lambert, not just for his goals but our whole game plan revolves around him, when he plays well so do we. He's had two pretty poor games so far this season, Norwich ain the JPT and Brighton, the teams performance was poor in both too, speaks for itself.

Top 10 most annoying cliches used in the office ...
Turkish replied to Hamilton Saint's topic in The Lounge
"Lets Park that for now" "its all smoke and mirrors" "you can only **** with your own ****" (quite like that one) -
i think we may have just found the next Peter Sutcliffe, Ted Bundy, Ed Geins and Adolf Hitler all rolled into one. Lets hang the deliquent now to save him from commiting further crimes against god and man in the future. What about if there were any pedophiles in the stands? Surely kids run onto the pitch is only encouraging more of them to come to footbal matches (come probably being an inapportiate word) On a more positive note though if the youngun does get banned we now have the youngest "fan" on a banning order in the country taking Pompeys crown after their 11 year old was banned in 2004. Another reason for bragging rights.

You miserable sod. It was funny.

we weren't though, for the first 25 minutes or so we were great, then Norwich were on top until about 70th minute, then we really struggled to break them down. That said though, there second goal was a bad richochet that could have gone anywhere and their first goal came from us giving the ball away for a foul throw and a free kick awarded to them which was never a free kick. Over the 90 mins though i think Norwich were the better side but good to see the never say die attitude in the team, how many times have Man Utd not played well and snatched a draw or win in injury time, mark of a decent side.
