  1. Well considering we have progressed from bottom at the start of the season to 11th to date, if we progress at the current rate we will be top by christmas so i for one wont be disapointed with that.
  2. after the high of saturday a win was expected, but even so 4 points from 2 away games is a reasonable return. Between now and the JPT final we have 5 home games, 4 against teams above us and two very winnable away games against a poor tranmere and an MK Dons side we have well beaten three times this season. By the end of march the table could have a very different look about it. Its a long shot, but a draw away at Wycombe changes nothing.
  3. He was quality i remember as a young kid watch him play in the world cup 86 for Northern Ireland, think he was playing for Bournemouth at the time and he scored for them and saying to my dad that i hoped we signed him, a few weeks later my dad came home from work with the echo and said to me "Saints have signed your mate" i was overjoyed, remember it like it was yesterday, even remember it was for £400k which was a lot of money back then. He was quality for us, scored something like 23 goals in his first season. Remember being in the Milton road end and seeing him score a cracker against Man City in a 1-1 draw, cut in from the left, beat a couple of players and smashed in past the City keeper. Always remember after his first season him moaning a bit about wanting to move to a bigger club and ending up at QPR of all places. Great player for us, probably in my top 10 favourites of all time.
  4. I dont get why people think our league form has been average. Since the beginning of December we have won every game at home. Our away games have been at tough places. Leeds and Colcheter have two of the best home records in the country and we narrowly lost at both, neither of which is a disaster, we drew away at Millwall & Brentford and probably should have beaten both, they have only lost at home once and twice respectively. Leeds and Norwich, the two best teams in the league bot lost at Millwall and Norwich lost at Brentford whilst Leeds drew. Exeter, again we should have won but they recently beat Leeds at home. So in short we have had 5 really tough away games and only lost once and did better at Millwall, Brentford & Exeter than the top two have. So our results at these places have been better overall than the top two sides in the division. Once Norwich is out of the way next week we have a run in of winnable games with 3 of the top 6 to come to SMS. By the end of March we could be within striking distance of the play offs. Since December in the league we have played 10 W5 D3 L2- a total of 18 points, whilst not great considering our away games have been at some of the toughest places i actually think its a reasonable return.
  5. WT was excellent last night, and i agree he is out best right back in the absence of Murty. Kind of see what people are saying about him over reacting but looking at it another way it was a performance full of passion and desire to win, loved his reation to the third goal. You could look at it another way and say WT stood up to MK Dons attempts to bully us last night, certainly they did get a bit aggresive with some of the younger players and the guy that got booked was playing up as soon as he came on. If some of the players during our two relegation seasons had show half the fight he showed last night we would never have gone down.

    SICK

If we are going to do it then i'd love to see a return to the Keegan kit, it was the first kit i remember us playing in and was worn by our best ever team. I'd love to see us in that again, love too.
  7. just got through, took about 10 minutes of ringing, guy i spoke to said they are bombed, stressed and systems are going slow. So be patient and polite!!!
  8. alright, you must be mates though. Anyone who rates that sort of **** must be bessie pals or lovers. Dan Kerrins used to post on the old SF board. Tell him next time you've got a mouthful of his jizz that he's a **** ****.
  9. I seem to remember in the old days of saintsforever Crab Lungs being Dan Kerins, quite sad to devote a thread to bigging up your own article. Isn't the idea that other people talk about how good your article is not yourself? "One of the best pieces of journalism I've read in recent years" Yes compared to that clown in the echo who rights the awful singles in the city article every week and mugs himself off with his embarassing exploits but When you've finished ****ing over yourself I suggest you start reading a few proper papers if you really believe that your quite average article is truely "One of the best pieces of journalism I've read in recent years"
  10. Aren't you Dan Kerins?
  11. wasn't it a groin injury which kept him out for 18 months? Hope its not related.
  12. was thinking the same thing myself at the game yesterday, though Connolly might have been on the bench. He hasn't played for a month now depsite being rated at 50/50 for Millwall a few weeks ago. Cant help but think his groin problem is more serious than the club are letting on. Hope i am wrong as has been class when he has played.
  13. great signing, good player now and young so will improve too. We are turning into the Gelacticos of league one!
  14. its like saying Antonio can catch, lets play him in goal, or Davis's distribution is quite good when the ball is passed back to his feet, lets play him as a creative central midfield player. Harding could do a job and only a job as a left midfield but no way on gods earth is he a central midfield player.
  15. probably one of the most ridiculous suggestion of all time on here. You obviously do not have a clue about football.
  16. I've got a mate up north who reackons we have also been watching a lad called Tristan Hamilton-Hendricks, plays for Nantwich Town at the moment but was on Crewe Alexandras books for a while but didn't work out apparantly. Really quick winger with a big reputation in those parts, aparantly a few clubs up north are interested as well. Obviously one for the future but could be a good signing, my mate reckons he is a class act.
  17. find a buyer and get beat by us. I dont want them to go bust, just suffer as slow, painful descent back to their natural position of being a league below us as possible. I want them to feel as much pain as possible, to really, really hurt but not to die. Just to keep stuttering on, in their **** little stadium, in their **** little city with their **** little fans.
  18. waving notes at them whilst singing "lets all have a whipround" and the song Pompeys going down with no money in the bank should suffice...
  19. I agree we should ban it. We should also ban The Rickie Lambert song as Liverpool have a version similar for Torres. We should stop singing come on you reds as every club sings come on you xxxxx this has ne relevance to South coast football as reds could also be anyone from Man Utd to VT FC. "lets all have a Disco" we'll you can **** off with that on too, how has a disco got anything to do with South Coast football? The simply song of "Southampton" should stop to as although the club is based in the city they actually represent the area which also covers Eastleigh, Winchester, New Forest etc so is not really right to limit singing to just one city and alienate the other boroughs. Also Spurs now sing "oh when the spurs go marching in" How is this relevant to Spurs, shall we petition the FA to get this song outlawed at WHL? Its disgusting. All anti Pompey songs can go., sick vile, not related to us and for the narrow minded bigots with no idea about football. So with all that gone we are left with............Well i suppose you can clap when we score if you like.
  20. what about the printing cost of tickets, cleaners for after the game, cost of electricity for lighting around the stadium and the PA announcers, and the free tickets given out for the half time half time "entertainment", photogropher for the match day programme needs to be paid as would have been working yesterday and i also wonder if the TV's in the concourses have been paid for yet or are they rented with a weekly cost of 20p each. Factor all these things and you have figure a lot lower than your initial estimate saintkipttanui, in fact its a wonder we broken even with all those outgoings. Next time you try to make a point make sure you factor in EVERY possible equation and give us a figure to the nearest £1 or you will be shown of up the ignoramous that you clearly are.
  21. Absolutely spot on mate. I'm sure people weren't saying he was "****e" when he was scoring against Watford in the cup semi final at Villa Park. Seems to me a lot people on this forum have short memories, no idea about football or an understanding of the game and your opinion only counts if it agrees with the happy clappy majority.
  22. Quite true, wonder if this was the case with us with Strachan, as great a job as he did for us hecouldn't have done any worse than his predessor to start. Although we were starting a new era at SMS expectations were still low with a lower midtable finish viewed as success so anything about that would have made him royalty in fans eyes. When he left it was quite clear the team would soon need major rebuilding work in the not to distant future. He knew that he wouldn't get significant £££ to improve it, wonder if Lowe had said, stay for another three years and we will give you £30m to spend in the summer if he would have changed his mind.
  23. Gray didn't have a good end of season, it was average at best, he got the job on the basis that we beat Man U (we always did at the Dell) and Arsenal last two games. Yes the players liked him but there is a big difference between liking and respecting. Gray was and still is a first class coach but is not manager material just like Wigley. Also apparantly Wadsworth was hated by the players. We were simply awful in that game against Arsenal, not just in the performance but in the attitude of the players, there was no belief there. I thought it was a mistake at the time and so it was proved and that is not with the benifit of hindsight. Rumour has it Moyes wanted the job but was unhappy that he couldn't bring his own people in.
  24. I thought everyone thinks James is **** and Morgan overrated? Anyway, he was clearly assessing the squad as he'd only been here a matter of weeks, we were doing our preseason during the first 6 or 7 games, agree with the guy who said he was asking the players playing to show him what they had. cant speak for Huddersfield but i was at Swindon and we were truely awful, telling that as has been pointed out, not a lot of the team that played then have made much of a contribution since. Lets face it, the team that was here at the start of the season would have been in a serious relegation battle.
  25. Not always the case though is it, how player players burst onto the seen in a blaze of glory and disappear. There have been so many over the years who have been brilliant for half a season, raved about then disppeared. Age doesn't automatically guarentee improvement, attitude of the individual and coaching & training are probably the two most important factors.
