  1. Why should it? Billy Sharp has started banging them in recently in the CCC, should he be calld up too? What about Pitman for Bournemouth he has had a good season? Do you you seriously think if David Beckham, a player who has played for three of the worlds biggest clubs, won every domestic trophy there is to win and over 100 England caps, was told to play in on of the top European leagues or he wouldn't be picked then a league one striker is going to be on Capellos thoughts?
  2. relatively poor from any generation of players, Keith Curle and Geoff Thomas in particular where particularly appalling. Some people seriously though we'd win Sweden 92, is it any wonder we only scored once and didn't win a game. A 17 year old kid who had never played in top flight being picked for the England world cup squad? Think you're right though, a third division striker unproven at any level higher than that league playing in a world cup for a supposed top football nation would be particularly bizarre.
  3. On the train on the way back someone said, when i was young i was scared of the dentists, he was a paedophile. Gave a whole new meaning to i'm going to give you a filling.
  4. Jeff thomas, Keith Curle, andy Sinton and carlton Palmer all being in the same England squad.
  5. i remember being at the Dell in the mid to late eighties when crowds of 15-16000 were common place before the capacity was reduced. I remember one game during the Branfoot era when the crowd was only about 9,000 with a sit in protest after the game. There is no doubt our fan base has grown, but i do question which team some of these so called saints fans go to watch.
  6. The old Division two or the current champsionship and his England career was long and distiguished wasn't it. Dont be so ridiculous, Lambert may be good at this level or the one above but would you seriously have him playing for England ahead of even this likes of Carlton Cole?
  7. Agree with that, i remember going to Leeds c1997? We won 1-0 and Carlton Palmer got sent off and there was only about 500 there. If the missing 30k also manged to get off their arse and go to half a dozen games a season then we would sell out every week, funnily enough we had no problems in the premier league. What team to they go to watch?
  8. good point, me too
  9. It may be a lot for division 3 but i wonder where the other 30,000 "fans" that were at Wembley sunday, plus all the the others that wanted a ticket but couldn't get one, are every week. I dont see people posting on here with their seat, row and block number when we had Stockport at home or Brentford away.
  10. but what about our fans? If one in two that were at Wembley turn up then should be 26k home fans, i think it is more than reasonable to expect a minimum of 50% of what we took to Wembley be attending matches regularly at home. So why is our average home attendance only 21k?
  11. Turkish

    Papa Waigo

i like the guy, think he's a decent player but also a right character and seems to really enjoy playing football and enjoy playing for us, you cant ask for anymore really.
  12. or will have people visiting them so could bring them along to the game, that is what i would do anyway. And the majority of people wont be working, with work commitments cited as one of the top three reasons why people dont attend games.
  13. be that as it may, over half the fans there wont have travelled from all of the world. If you are generous maybe 1000 came from outside of England with lets say another 5000 from outside of the 50 mile radius of Southampton, so that leaves 45,000 fans who were at Wembley from within an hours drive of Southampton. then there are all the fans that wanted a ticket but couldn't get one.
  14. i'd expect that anyway, if only one in two of the fans that went to Wembley on sunday attended that is still almost 26k home fans with probably around 1500 Orient fans meaning we should expect a minimum attendance of at least a 27.5k.
  15. thats what i thought, considering its a bank holiday, trophy paraded round the pitch and estimates of 51k great fans who had such an amazing day out at wembley on sunday, i'd have though selling 30k or so tickets for a home league match would be no problem.
  16. Anyone know how ticket sales are going for this one? I'd have thought it'd be a decent turn out with the feel good factor from sunday.
  17. We really miss Hammond when he doesn't play, just like Schniderlin, i think he is one of those players that you dont notice until he isn't there. I really rate him, think he is a good leader and a very good and under rated player.
  18. Our first 11 is better than anyone at this level and probably half the teams above, if we can keep Antonio, Waigo and Connolloy, i think all we need is decent cover in the centre of midfield and a permemant solution to right back, if thats Otsemebor all well and good then we have got a squad to win the league next season.
  19. Lallana said in yesterdays paper he would definitely be here next season, good news. Agree with everything, apart from Jaidi, i think he is good for another year at this level.
  20. Come on Wagon, we all know you want sit next to me spending the journey blowing up balloons and discussing tactics and what songs we are going to sing. I'll even put some face paints on you if you are make me laugh more than twice
  21. i got soul but i'm not a soilder.....
  22. as jesus once said, turn the other cheek......
  23. So jokes about ginger people are funny are they? Jokes about Scottish people are funny are they? They may not be a race as in a different colour skin to but they are a proud nation who suffered years of oppression and tyreny at the hands of the English in a bygone era. People crack numerous jokes at the expense of ginger people so therefore that is some form of dislike. I think mocking them by walking round wearing kilts and wigs is at best distateful, bearing in mind what happened back in the 15th century when nobles were allowed first night rites with any newly wed Scot. Not quite so funny calling them sweaties now is it?
  24. I agree, but we do need to stamp out the undercurrent of racism and xenaphobia which is prevelant in this society. Anyway, i digress, what are you plans for tomorrow? How are you going to dress your carriage?
  25. if you haven't booked a cab already i suggest the bus, if you wait until the morning you've got no chance.
