No I did not. We lucked our way to the Cup. For a club like Pompey to win it they would have to. However the record book will alway state Portsmouth FC FA CUP winners 2008. Nothing you, I or anyone else can do to change that, not now, not ever.

IMO he's a bit lightweight but would give most Premiership team great squad options, he certainly gave your lad Crainie a torrid time. Another good 'un the Saints let get away, Still a thieving little git mind!
-
Agreed. Not one Pompey fan I've spoken too thought we'd win it again anyway. So not bothered. Surviving in the Prem however, is a bit more worrying (Though you'll be pleased to know I think we'll be alright!)
-
Tore Pompey a new one (Though he was up against Cranie). Why'd your lot let him go? Thought he looked quality and clearly enjoyed his goal.
-
Surely were still the FA cup holders until someone else actually lifts it? Besides history cannot be erased.

Thanks Rock. I never take the **** out of the scummers at work! (well, maybe a tiny bit) and whilst there is alot of banter, most fans don't dish it out because those that really care know how it feels when everything is going to sh*t! I find those that continually dish it out again mostly don't go and so don't have as much emotionally invested. I find most INVESTED Pompey and Saints fans on the frontlines have a strange kinda respect for each other. Though admittedly there's always a few.

Could not agree more. We'll be at least 6,000 short of capacity for the Swansea game, with Swansea bringing nearly 4,000 down too. I know so many people at work who have Pompey tattoo's, wear the shirts and have an opinion on everything and yet the f****** don't go! I know people who cried at the cup final (personally I was just pleased) and ain't seen a game since. Load of old toss.

I'm hoping this is not true, but I've had two people at work come up to me all gleeful, informing me Saints are on the brink of Administration. As a FOOTBALL fan I would not wish that on anyone and whilst it's not my place to admonish them, I actually think less of their football credentials because of it. Most Pompey fans remember the humiliation of unsympathetic press reports and luckily we found a buyer, though many, including myself doubted we would. Anyway I guess I'm trying to say despite lots of goading from some Pompey fans, many will be hoping that you come through this with a clean slate and a new buyer and I for one will not be using impending administration as a jibe, I know and most intelligent Pompey fans know, it's not funny and that it's the REAL fans who will suffer the most (Not the token scummers who spout off but rarely actually go). Anyway Chins up guys and girls.

Thankfully Pompey's new superstadium will be up and running by 2018 so should gaurantee us South coasters some WC games down here.

I'll be rooting for Pompey! I hate Spurs more than Saints. In fact my heart has warmed (it must be an ageing thing?) i've come to feel sorry for the Saints. Still remember it's all just a cycle, you've gotta bear the Lowe's to enjoy the highs!

Yo, Yo, Gord bless yer Mary Poppins!
-
Your right to worry Mack. I must confess that I have much sympathy for them, I blame my mother, she was from Romsey, which is why my father rather cruelly named me Arthur Scummer. So despite my Pompey past, I'll never be able to turn my back on the unfortunates, I just can't bring myself to do it.
-
Sorry Steve, I was actually being Sarcastic. I won't do it again.
-
We will win 2-0 Johnson will rip Bridge a new one.
-
Well if Saints had sold some of their better players since relegation then they might of kept the wolves from the door.
-
Really positive about the future now! We WILL beat city saturday.

I like Sasha Gaydamak, he's a very impressive young man. I would not swap him for ANY other owner. Us pompey fans are very lucky to have him and his sensible approach to football and business at the helm and steering the good ship Pompey through these troubled waters. Sadly many clubs will go to the wall in this awful economic climate, luckily for all of us here on the south coast, one man has the vision to see us through it!

MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER In this weekend’s matchday programme, Pompey owner Sacha Gaydamak and executive chairman Peter Storrie will address the fans regarding recent media speculation and player movements. Below is the message in full: “First of all may we wish you all a very happy new year. “We want to take this opportunity to update you directly on our plans to continue the success we have achieved over the last three years. “Since the January 2006 takeover we have spent substantial sums on both transfer fees and players’ wages. “As a result we have built a high-value, quality squad which has brought success over that period and allowed us to build a club based on sound and sustainable business principles. “Recently, with the approval of the board and Tony Adams, Peter Storrie has negotiated the sale of Lassana Diarra to Real Madrid and Jermain Defoe to Tottenham, for similar club-record fees. “Both of these sales have deferred payment terms, in addition to outstanding fees payable to their previous clubs. “As a result, we are on course to achieve a turnaround from a loss-making business to a break-even position, which gives us a solid platform to recruit new players to the squad and move the business forward. “We are now operating in a more volatile economic environment in the UK. This, together with the international nature of our player trading leaves us susceptible to adverse movements in exchange rates. “To counteract this we have reviewed all areas of the business, including salaries and overheads, with a view to making reductions where possible. “Forefront in our minds will always be our Premier League status. “The resultant changes will ensure that as a club we come through these difficult times for businesses and football clubs in a stronger position for the future. “We have no further need to sell any players from our squad. Indeed, we are looking to offer new contracts to players that Tony sees as part of the future beyond the end of this season. “In addition we are currently working on the permanent acquisition of three players along with two loan deals to the end of the season, one from the UK and one from abroad. “These acquisitions will increase the size of the squad that Tony has by five players. We are confident that a couple will be concluded shortly, but that all five players will be here well before the transfer window closes. “Over the last three years we have all worked closely together and have always updated our supporters on club matters, as we are now. “We are not in a financial crisis as sections of the media would have you believe. We have simply adjusted the business to deal with the current climate until we move into the new stadium when our revenue streams will be increased. “The sales of Sulley Muntari and Pedro Mendes in the summer allowed us to purchase Peter Crouch and Younes Kaboul and pay loan fees for both Armand Traoré and Nadir Belhadj, the latter of whom we have now purchased. “During this window the players that have left us are one who wanted to go and another who openly stated, on joining us, that one day he would leave for a bigger club. We have helped both achieve their ambitions. “The strength of this club has always been derived from the support that you, the fans, give the team and the club. Working together as one, we can continue that success. “We hope we have given you all a clearer picture of the positive way forward for the club. We will always keep you updated directly via our website and the programme. “On a final note, we want to reassure our faithful supporters of our commitment to the sustainable longevity of Portsmouth Football Club. “Sacha Gaydamak and Peter Storrie”

Close, it's his brother!
-
Yebbut Weston, as so many Saints fans love to point out, it's not Sasha Gaydamaks Money behind the club but his fathers, who is worth a considerable amount of money. Was 10 Billion, now 2 Billion but as he has said, thats paper money, he does not care about the decrease in his assets, because it's only 8 Billion lost should he choose to sell.
-
I know, Nick in sensible, balanced post shocker! (Only kidding Nick).
-
Who, knows who really owns Pompey? Allegedly Gaydamak Jnr is bankrolled by his father and to be honest, whilst he does have a small fortune of his own, he's learning his way in business with his fathers support...... I'm guessing. Y'now Bridge i'm telling you the truth, I like Sasha Gaydamak as our owner, I really do, I like the way he operates and I sincerley hope he does not sell us.
-
Not really, more a case of putting things on the back burner. Our owners have enough money to ride the Storm. The current climate has seen $8,000,000,000 dollars wiped off the net worth of Arcadi Gaydamak, as he jokingly put it, he's on his uppers, he's now down to his last 2 Billion!!! (to put that in perspective, Abramovich is apparently now worth $3 Billion) The club is for sale as are most clubs if the right offer comes along, were unlikely to find a buyer in the current climate, but I don't see things as being half as troubled as the national press, who for some reason really care about what goes on at PFC? As for me, i'm thoroughly enjoying our ambition re-alignment.

Sorry Always, but your quite wrong. In retrospect the highlight for me in the cup was beating Man Utd at old trafford, the rest was more relief than celebration, we HAD to beat West Brom and we HAD to beat Cardiff, we were expected too so, to me it felt more 'Job done' than anything else. I don't speak for all or even most Pompey fans I'm sure the majority did LOVE it, but I can only speak for myself and say it really was not that great, had we beaten Man Utd 1-0 in the final however. I'm an honest fella, I don't want to go down because I want to maintain our league superiority over you lot (God knows I waited all my football supporting life for it!) three years is not long enough! I do know for a fact that I will enjoy a relegation scrap more than I will the so called high's of the last few years as you all must remember, the wins are 'immense' and the losses 'truelly crushing', the last few years i've just felt 'Smug' upon winning and 'mildly dissapointed' when having lost. As I say you can with some justification call Pompey fans all kinds of things, but when our backs are to the wall, I promise you, no set of fans will generate the overwhelming 'defiant' support that Pompey fans will lift our team with. One more thing, a few years back I was walking to the ground and got talking to an old fella, he told me he watched Pompey and Saints on alternate weeks, I asked him how he felt the vocal support compared, he told me they were much of a muchness however Saints fans 'respond' to their teams positive efforts on the pitch, Pompey fans 'Lift' their team to greater endeavor. You will laugh, I accept that, It don't bother me. I'm truelly looking forward to the battle a battle I'm convinced we'll win and know Pompey fans will relish!
