  1. Unfair, I am very interested in all forms of Architecture, not just Stadia. Bolton's Reebok stadium (Whilst hardly a masterpiece) is a good example of something that for the same sort of cost, could of been a little less Insipid than SMS. Nothing wrong with SMS, just saying that with a little more thought something interesting could of been achieved. Slightly larger is Cologne's Stadium, again a modern design that 'feels' (Ironically) how I believe a Modern interpretation of an English football stadium should, notice the Lights that add something that bit different. The Walkers Stadium if i'm not mistaken is made to the same blueprints as SMS, which i'm sure saved considerable money on Architect's fees but surely a Football Club should strive for a Design to give their home an 'Identity' of their own?
  2. Evening Nick, Pompey fans come on here for different reasons, I like a bit of intelligent banter, but thats not the sole purpose, others like your old sparing partner, i'd say enjoy winding people up. I'm amused by yours and others spats with him and miss him when he's not posting. It says alot for the current state of the two clubs that he's not around (I don't blame him) at this exact moment in time. Very slim pickings indeed for a Pompey fan on a wind up. I know he ****es alot of people off, but he's a higher class of WOM and when you witness the kind of purile idiocy, from both Children and 40 year old wanna be Football hooligans that goes on in the Rivals message boards, both Saints and Pompey, I'd say he's a breath of fresh air. Hope he comes back soon.
  3. It'll be interesting to see if Pompey fans actually take action, to compare both sets of fans ACTUAL actions in a similar crisis?
  4. If I we're a Saints fan, I'd rather have the Dell too! Though had you had the Dell, it's doubtful Mr. Swissy would of seen you as so investible?
  5. I think you may be right, Maybe my denial is akin to the Saints fans who Denied they'd take any pride in Saints history if Saints had won the League twice. So with my honest hat on, i'll re answer the Would I rather have SMS or Fratton Park question. Yes and No. If it meant getting more people through the gate because of flexibility on Pricing and quality of facilities then YES. If it made Pompey a more attractive investment to potential buyers right now then YES. If it meant building it in another location other than Fratton, then NO (Though in fairness SMS is pretty centrally located, but a Horsea Island Location isn't) I believe if we had an SMS style stadium the atmosphere would be inferior to Fratton park what with your piped in Crowd noise and after goal music, so on this front NO. Asthetically there is nothing to choose, Fratton is a Dump which is quite frankly insulting to the punter paying £37 for a game, however SMS is an uninspired Soulless Bowl stadium the design of which future Stadia Enthusiasts will say blighted British Football Stadium design throughout the 90's and early 00's. So TIED asthetically. So on reflection, your right, right now i's swap SMS for Fratton just for the one reason that it would enhance any longterm chance of survival we might have. However you get one shot at a Stadium in a lifetime, were I a Saints fan who had any regard for architecture i'd be a bit dissappointed my team, having a new stadium, ran out at such a Bland, uninspired, insipid venue. A great opportunity lost. However as most Saints fans (or football fans in general) don't know the first thing about asthetics, beauty and environment I dont suppose they care one iota.
  6. Your right, It's disgusting what has gone on and many might suspect Money laundering could of been involved as Money Laundering is the process of Spending Dirty Money and getting a fraction of it back as 'Clean' money, which may explain why such ludicrous amounts of money we're spent on Players wages (Rather than transfers), in Honesty, Transfer outgoings we're not spectactularly high for any Premier League club, the wages on the other hand were! Pompey may well be the 'Rottenest egg' of the lot, but I doubt it's the only one, if Pompey's demise brings down the whole stinking lot (Which sadly I don't think it will) then some good would of come of it.
  7. Nope, I'd rather have Fratton Park.
  8. I don't think Pompey will come out of this smelling of Roses (or Sea Anenomes). I don't think we did last time round, we did get a new owner in Madandrich (Don't get me wrong I like the fella) who got very lucky with Promotion, Factors being Collapse of ITV Digital and other Championship clubs tightning their belts just as Madandrich allowed Redknapp to Reinvest ALL the 5 million in quick profit made on Peter Crouches sale to Villa, Redknapp used his contacts, bought in players Like Merson, Festa, Stone, Taylor, Todorov and Yakubu. We got lucky (But you need a bit of luck). Premiership first few years were great, Atmosphere was superb and received national recognition for our support. I know that irks Saints fans, but the Atmosphere was pretty awesome at times and often beligerent in the face of defeat, I guess for a few years Pompey fans patronisingly became dubbed 'best fans etc, etc', not true because there is no such thing, but likewise, not something Pompey Fans dubbed themselves, the press did it. Anyway what has effectively happened allegedly and as many have long suspected is we were bought by Gaydamak as a Money laundering operation, you know how that works, £100 Million Dirty money in, £10 Million Clean money out. Well to cut a long post short, I guess via third parties the Gaydamaks are taking the 'Clean' money out, the Dirty money having been lavished on players wages that was not sustainable, but it starts to seem obvious that sustainability was never the aim. It'll be fascinating what transpires over the next 6 months, it really will. The honest truth is anything could happen (I know what I think is most likely) but it is rotten what has gone on, despite what anyone says on here, the Pompey fans (even the dsgusting ones) are not culpable for this in anyway, we have no control over things and before very recently I was not so wise about it all, maybe I had my head in the sand I dunno? But we the fans are not to blame. Even if you want us to be! All the fans have done is respond in the way ANY fans of a club would, it's a rollercoaster ride, enjoy it and don't ***** and mank when it all goes tits up!
  9. Sorry Mack, just trying to Cheer them up after their reality check against the Mighty Colchester.
  10. 10k Colin??? Your optimstic.
  11. I like you Nick, I really do! You paint a relatively rosy (though unrealistic) future. But I know your tactic well, expect the worst and quietly pray for the best. One of my favourites is to place Money on Saints to win things that i don't want them to, works EVERY time! What are Saints current promotion odds by the way? Gotta be worth a few quid!

    NFL

I've backed The Packers and the Ravens to win the Superbowl. Not that I really think either will, but at 25/1 and 50/1 (Last weeks odds) I think thats where the Value is. If my house was on it I'd back the Chargers, though it's very open this year.

Think the Saints have lost momentum at the worst possible time.
  14. Good point, cleverly made.
  15. What kind of man are you? D.P.D. Is no laughing matter, you don't mock the disabled!
  16. Superb post Spudgun, another man who gets it! I enjoyed reading that and couldn't argue with a thing you've said. This is a GREAT forum, infinately superior to any Pompey forum and I have no intention of going anywhere, even if Pompey do go down the Toilet bowl, i'll be that bitter little voice in the corner keeping it real for the deluded.
  17. Thanks for the offer Colin. I would, but it might upset Dell Days (And we wouldn't want that).
  18. * *
  19. Which makes it all the more puzzling to me that you're not a Pompey fan?
  20. Yep thats pretty clear and thanks for simplifying things for me. But maybe thats over sharing? (Which I never asked for) But anyway, I now know, Your a hateful individual with a Superiority/Inferiority complex who takes pleasure in watching things die both slowly and painfully. Despite your cry for help, I'm not trained to ease your troubled mind, so best that I don't dabble, but thanks for letting me get to know you (Though as an Englishmen I find such openess regarding your mental state quite uncomfortable.)
  21. Yeah absolutely I wouldn't argue with any of that (Ignoring the fact that you have spoken for every single Pompey fan and decided that ALL were in total raptures of joy whilst Saints seemingly vanished down the plug hole), so its completely baffling to me why the likes of yourself and Dell days, whilst identified this, then incredibly and without any redeeming sense of irony, go and do exactly the same thing? Thus by your own reckoning, condeming Saints to another cycle of doom and despair because you could not keep a lid on your vitriol! Beware these strange cosmic forces that punish the gloaters! OH HOW THE SAINTS FANS LAUGHED! And so the cycle continues.......
  22. I'd of thought Pompey's total demise would be such a bad thing, even those who truelly hate all things PFC, I can't fathom why the imaginations of some can't stretch to see it? It's a yin yang thing. I cant believe that fans who've spent the VAST majority of their Saints supporting lives enjoying the upper hand over their rivals, can then get so incredibly bent out of shape during the 4 years that things have been turned on its head for Saints? With normality for all soon to be restored, maybe the tormented Saints fans who judging by their posts on here have become quite demented and lost all perspective, can see balance restored to their lives. I never saw that anything good could come from Pompeys demise, but maybe.......
  23. Fair enough Nick, but your not normal.
  24. Christ that'll give us a total combined 2009 selling price of: £1 - Gaydamak to Al Fahim £2 - Al Fahim to Al Farage £1 - Al Farage to (Anyone stupid enough to buy us?) Roll up, Roll up!!!
