  1. I think you'll find that the vast majority of immigrants are desperate to work when they arrive but aren't allowed to under the terms of our government's Dickensian asylum policy. It is illegal to seek or undertake paid emploment whilst an asylum application in pending though the average turn around for a case is almost 3 years. Why do you think there are Lawyers and Doctors driving taxis in Southampton? Are they trying to 'freeload of us taxpayers'?
  2. I certainly wouldn't be averse to signing Trundle - though I think Rasiak could provde the same service were he motivated. An interesting option might be Lukas Jutkiewitz at Everton. A Southampton boy, signed from Swindon for £1mil but doen the pecking order at Goodison. I've spoken to a few in the know and he'd certainly be keen on a move back down here. Tall, strong and fairly pacy striker; although he is quite slight -does have a physical presence. Could be worth a look on loan. To my mind we need two players for every position and I would hope the team might look something like this for Millwall: Davis Murty Jaidi Perry Harding Lallana Schneiderlin Gillett Mills Rasiak Saganowski Longer term I think both strikers will need replacing. If they go, we may need to sign up to 4 strikers. Don't like Lallana at right-wing but I don't think he's done enough to be accommodated elsewhere. James would push Murty at RB Thomas as one covering CB - need to get one more - preferably a bit younger. Personally don't rate Molyneux so need extra cover for Harding McLaggon would I hope push for the right wing slot when he's fit. Wotton and a new signing to cover at centre mid. Really unsure about Schneiderlin but is ability is indubitable. Holmes good competition for Mills With that amount of surgery and some proven new additions I think we have a team capable of promotion
  3. The bloke you have decribed must be the fitness coach - Nick Harvey. He is about 5'9 and bald. Be very interesting to see what calibre of player he is able to attract, and how quickly
  4. Incidentally, a boy appears to announce that Godot is not coming today but will surely come tomorrow. Would that be MLT? Another of Beckett's plays is called "Happy Days."
  5. I just rang reception at SMS who put me through to the media department. The chap said he "didn't think there was a press conference there today."
  6. Sorry chaps, I have to say that I disagree with most of the posts on this thread. When we signed Euell I was very pleased as he is someone I have always rated. Clearly, I had no idea what the financial terms were and nor should I: it serves no purpose to publicise someone's wages like that. In his first few months with us I was really disappointed with his form as I really felt he had more to offer. The cup match away at Bristol Rovers stands out in my memory as a particularly bad day for him. However, as others have pointed out, he was rejuvinated under Pearson and embarked on his own Indian Summer. I followed him closely in pre-season and was very impressed. I really noticed at the smaller grounds just how much organisation and encouragement he offers the youngsters and technically I believe he is among our best players. I was really disappointed he didn't play more at the start of the season and delighted when he was recalled. I felt he was beginning to make an impact again when he was harshly sent off and put out of action for 3 games. Clearly if the club receives an offer then it is a different matter but certainly I would be picking him whilst he is here. If you look at his comments he isn't really whinging - only about the publication of his wages in that god-awful local rag. He WANTS to play for us and stay and help out which is more than I can say for countless others who have jumped ship when we've hit stormy sees over the past couple of seasons. That, in my opinion, should be commended. Yes, the previous board were obviously financially irresponsible in tranfer fees paid and wages offered but that's hardly Euell's fault. Don't forget his agent's job would have been to secure the best deal possible. I'm not so interested in the finances but more in having good players here who want to play for us. Euell, Surman and Schneirderlin in central midfield for me everytime I'm afraid...
  7. What a mindless, ignorant comment which unfortunately seems so common among Saints fans these days. Cork has been nothing short of a revelation since he joined us, I have hardly seen him put a foot wrong and by all accounts he was again outstanding today. He is a future England international, of that I'm sure.
  8. Anyone going to this tonight? It's at Mountbatten School in Romsey. Think a squad of first team players are going down and then there is an auction of sports stuff afterwards.
  9. According to the brief 'teaser' on today's Echo website, JP is looking for ONE more player to add versatility to the squad. Is this Pulis or Gasmi?
  10. Bit strange that BWP and Thomas are not included, especially BWP. Thoughts?
  11. Felt very proud of the lads today - excellent support as well. My first trip to Ninian Park today and a very hostile atmosphere I thought. The little train back from the ground afterwards was unbelievably packed with loads of blokes just bundling on. Two kids I was with got badly crushed and were in tears. In fairness, an older Cardiff fan was shouting at people to stop trying to get on and was trying to shield the kids. The same bloke also asked me who 'our little blond midfielder was' - referring to Gillett. He was clearly impressed. Ok, the game. I think we certainly deserved a draw. Kelvin Davis made an outstanding save from a header at the beginning of the second half, but I really do think he was at fault for their winner. An inswinging ball to the six yard box has to be the keepers. Not acceptable to allow the striker to win the ball there. My ratings: Davis - 6 James - 7 thought he did really well, particularly impressed with the accuracy and incisiveness of his passing. Naive free kick to give away at the end and due to his height, struggles with anything in the air. Good debut though. Surman - 6 Slightly disappointed. Sound enough defensively but didn't get forward enough and passing not quite up to normal high standards. Superb piece of skill to beat the full back for our goal but Drew can so better. Perry - 7 Superb in the tackle, showed good pace and seems to have a natural partnership with Svensson. Shame he isn't a little taller, on this basis only I'd pick Davies ahead of him when fit. Killer - 9 Saw him at Winchester and Cheltenham and thought he looked a shadow of his former self. I haven't joined the wave of expectation because I didn't think he'd be up to it. Absolutely OUTSTANDING. Totally dominant in the air, excellent positioning, unflappable clearances and passing. I pray he can stay fit. The best signing in the Championship this season. Gillett - 8 for me our next best player after Svensson. Strength and power that belies his diminutive frame. Superb retention of the ball, covered more ground than any other player on the pitch. Unlucky not to score in the first half. A breath of fresh air, really impressed. Schneiderlin - 6 Excellent for the first half hour, can look after himself better than I expected and I'm sure he'll become a class act for us. Faded in the second half before being subbed, dwelt on the ball a couple of times but still getting used to the pace of this league. Lallana - 7 worked his socks off, showed great skill and awareness at times. Can beat a player in a confined area and moves the ball well. Lacked the end product at times but did his best to give McGoldrick support. Thompson - 6 Great start, beating his man with little trouble and a few good balls in. Faded out of it, but with this formation the wingers really rely on getting good service. Holmes - 6 Great work rate and link up play, a few too many wayward passes and corners though I thought. Shame we don't have any other natural left wingers (excluding Skacel) as I'm not convinced he could last 90 mins. McGoldrick - 7 Best I've seen him for us, playing in a really difficult role. Tremendous work rate and so pleased to see him score a real strikers goal. Subs: Dyer - 6 Beat his man and created our only chance of note in the second half. Sometimes over-elaborated but did what he could when we were under the cosh. Wright-Phillips - 6 played on the left a didn't see much of the ball. Great tracking back to help Surman. Wotton - 6 thought his distribution was poor but did come on and compete well in the tackle and in the air. Looks to be a good organiser. Overall, plenty to be proud of here chaps. Sickening to concede an unecessary goal at the end. Struck me how much they worked for each other, doubling up and encouraging. 2 things that worry me are: Inability to defend an aerial threat from set-pieces (Svensson aside). If midfield don't get forward quickly enough, leaves the loan striker quite isolated and makes creating chances difficult.
  12. Update - just checked with the Saints ticket office and they said you can pay on the day - I'm off COYR
  13. Can anyone confirm that you can pay on the gate?
  14. I noticed that DMG is 11-1 to score the first goal at Cardiff. Surely worth £10?
