For my the jury is out, I think he could well sign a new contract if he sees us continuing to progress. But given the question, Gary Neville - depending how he gets on at Valencia!
-
Agree 100% and I'd be pretty happy with that for now, and you never know. On a bad year it might even be a pop at top 4! But we aren't ever going to do that instantly. We had our chance last year and blew it, it will be a while before we do that again. We could probably have done it this year, but our results just haven't been consistent enough.
-
I think there is a chance we could be more like Everton this year, but hopefully we'll be challenging top 8-10. That doesn't make us a bad team, and I think Everton will be as strong this year as we were last year. If we want to try and kick on, then we need to start playing in Europe, and that will take time to adjust.

I think I would rather the business model of buying young players with potential and selling at a higher price after they have served us, than buying older players with little or no resale value. The latter is a sure fire way to bleed money from the club. For me it's the only way to remain self sustainable. That and the academy as well.

Could this come from the Mane story? They buy Mane and we take Januzaj on loan as cover for a year with option to buy hopefully?
-
If he leaves then this is my hopeful scenario!

Ah ok - it was linking on here before but doesn't seem to be at the moment http://www.skysports.com/football/teams/southampton/news

Taking the emotional attachment out of it, I'll reserve judgement until I see how we are doing if this does indeed happen

Seems sky sports have taken the article down? I wonder if that means anything...

Are there any quotes anywhere that say he prefers a move to Spurs?

Fixtures out tomorrow - who will we get first game?

Also I can't see any really bad runs where we have 3-4 tough fixtures in a row -

But on the other hand at least those teams would have played midweek as well -
It would be interesting to know actually. If as you say moving was a way for them to keep their England place. Again guess it depends what their individual motivation was. But it's not like any of them have particularly shone since leaving.
-
That worked well for Lallana, Lambert, Shaw, and Chambers. I would hope some players might think twice about moving for a quick fix, but probably not!
-
I think if we were to get CL then this could potentially be the only departure, other than maybe someone like Cork leaving for first team football at another club. But knowing Saints the summer will serve up something!
-
Personally, except for Clyne, I wouldn't consider the other two players leaving as significant as the players last season who were all first team regulars.
-
It does indeed! Didn't realise that, just read this one in the sport magazine this morning. Interesting it's the same article.

This time from sport magazine http://www.sport-magazine.co.uk/ I'm guessing these are coming off the back of the Training Ground opening

Personally go full out in every game. I would rather play a full strength team say against Villa and get 3 points, rather than risk not winning and then loosing to a bigger team anyway. We've seen it happen so many times to teams when they've rested players for an important fixture but then lose the so-called easy game.
-
I think if you consider the last time Arsenal were getting victories over the big teams then we have a chance of top 4 even if we do not beat any of them. As long as we do enough to keep up there.

Toby Alderweireld Signs on Season Loan - Official

Someone reported nop option to buy though - any update on that? I guess we could still end up buying him, like Lukaka at Everton, but might not be so easy. Could that be because they don't want to halt the path of some of the U21s? -
For me Clyne and Bertrand looked superb today! Both getting forward well but not leaving the defence exposed.
-
I think we might be playing a slightly different shape, with a deeper midfield of 3 and then enabling the full backs to get forward more to support Tadic/Long/Pelle. If it works and we keep WH at bay could help with out issues going into the final 3rd

Danny Welbeck - Told he can leave.. Only for mid table club

He's still under contract, so surely it's up to them who they accept bids from? -
This! If there wasn't something in it then I don't think he would have talked about it
