Your post is your opinion but sums up my point. Both are young players in their first full season as starters. You have completely assassinated DMG and probably cheered or booed him off the pitch on Saturday. This obsession about him not running about enough is also irritating! The guy is struggling, he's left up front without support usually against 2 giant centre backs and is obviously losing confidence. Your outbursts certainly don't help. I worry that it will be Lallan's turn for this treatment next. It's obvious to me that both players needs support, it's Lowe and Portvliet who should be criticised....... -

Papa obviously they are. I don't understand why our so called supporters turn so quickly on a young player - especially our best youn player? -

Not playing alongside a centre forward puts him at something of a disadvantage don't you think? The tactics at home are a joke 8 goals in 12 matches with 1 win! Time for a change before we are relegated.... -

Ponty, surely we should be criticising the management not the youngsters, I watched Lallana in front of the Itchen chase around lie a madman at times so I will not accept this ridiculous campaign to undermine him. Frankly DMG needs backing as well. -
Frankly I'm gobsmacked at the ongoing criticism of Lallana on the forum! He is our most gifted young player - hence premier league interest from Fulham, Stoke, Spuds etc - yet all I read is criticism of his attitude, showboating, lack of positional sense, lack of commitment and so on. This is his first season in the side, and some of the things he has done have been brilliant, reminiscent of MLT. I understand he has expressed loyalty yet some of our so called fans are starting to get on his case big time. My opinion is that we have a young side coached in a way, that I no longer support, and AL has been asked to play in a certain way my Jan that involves playing in a free role. I love watching him play and believe that he will develop into a top player with the right coaching. My final word is that the cheering of another young player - David McGoldrick - being substituted was a disgrace and helped noone. Do we have the most disloyal fans in the Championship?

Derry get off of the lad's case please! He has always played as an attacking right sided midfielder for us so I dont think he dislikes playing wide on the right. Jan is the one who encourages him to float and interchange with other players. In another thread you imply that Dyer would be better on the right. He drifts all over the place as well.....
-
Sorry Derry have to disagree! Lallana is a promising youngster who has improved immeasurably this season and is easily our most talented young player. Why you are so down on him him so much is beyond me! I'm sure you're in a very small minority. The system by design expects players to interchange all of the time which is what Lallana does. This what he's told to do. We don't play 442 with him on the right. As for your point re the attacking wide players leaving gaps I agree totally - Rudi gets exposed as well - but Cork and Surman are supposed to cover the gaps. This never works, we either end up with noone up front centrally or space in behind our midfield. Bring back 442 with 2 banks of 4 with 2 up front.
-
I think you've got that wrong. The system works on the principle of players interchanging positions hence Lallana, McGoldrick, Euell, etc didn't stay in one place on Saturday. This is the total football nonsense that Jan and co are preaching. Obviously there's something in what you say but my point is the players do not look sure what they're doing half the time leading to crosses where there is noone on the end of them....
-
I think your logic for Dyer's return is good, but your assessment of Lallana is not. The lad is our most talented player by someway, but suffers playing in this ridiculous system that expects our wide players to cross the ball and then get on the end of same cross! Dyer will look hilarious rather like roadrunner if he plays wide!

Typical Saints to lose to Forest and be only 1 point above the bottom 3 rather than 7!!!!!

Jan has had it and must go asap. In my opinion with things as they are we have to look at lower league managers/coaches that would work with youngsters and no transfer budget . Names such as Jim Gannon at Stockport, Nigel Adkins at S****horpe, Kenny Jackett at Millwall, John Sheridan at Oldham, Peter Taylor at Wycombe, Paul Tisdale at Exeter or Gary Waddock at Aldershot are in our league. I would go for Gannon or Taylor with Paul Tisdale as a long shot. Any thoughts?

Ball and Case -
Sorry Reading and Birmingham disprove that....
-
Sorry Marco. you're in dreamland! Do you really think wealthy , successful premiership players come managers would work for Lowe with his methods? Ince and Keane will get another chance at the top you mark my words. Coming to us having to sell everyone with no transfer budget, not in full control.......no chance!!!
-
Why would Ince or Keane come to us? Dream on.....
-
This is ridiculous! None of these would be interested. We have to look at lower league managers/coaches that would work with youngsters and no transfer budget in my opinion.
-
Sorry he's awful! We need 2 new forwards or 1 plus BWP up front....
-
Surely there's less pressure on this game. The kids will relax, and probably play better against a footballing side that might well be full of youngsters as well Isn't the doom and gloom a bit over the top? OK we lost to Palace badly, but we were brilliant at Reading so keep the faith....
-
How have we won 4 away games then?
-
Disagree both tackled well at times. If you think that surely it would have had an effect at Reading? What was weird was the way we seemed to have only Robertson up front in the first half, then seemed to always have 4 up front with only 2 in midfield after HT. Often with little movement which lead to us passing backwards often, or giving it away and being totally outnumbered on the break.

Spot on Alpine!

Sorry the Scott Minto I listened to had nothing good to say about us - indeed why should he or Dave Merrington be biased to us after that performance! Why the sudden campaign against Dave Merrington? I think he makes sense, only a fool could think the current plan and personnel has any hope of succeeding. We desperately need financial rescue and proper leadership throughout the club before we end up doing a Titanic. If DM can help this happen welcome it I say!
