Agree with Saganowski being at the top of the clear-out list. But would also like to see the back of Forecast, Perry, Molyneux, Gillett, Pulis, Lancashire & Poke. None of these players will ever get a sniff at first-team football, so why keep them? I'm hoping we'll sign Trotmann on a permanent basis and add a better cover CB than Perry.

Agreed, and those players are Lambert, Harding, Lallana & Hammond in my opinion, with Connolly, Davis & Thomas as possibles. So there's room for improvement on both the short-term scale as well as the long-term. Question remains the same; where and who?

Even as it seems we've finally got a settled squad at the moment, which positions are the main areas to improve? My bids: RB: Neither Murty nor James presents a solution for no more than maybe a season. LM: Still not convinced that neither Mills or Holmes is good enough, when we start climbing through the leauges. CB: We need to sort out the Trotmann-loan, either sign him up or make sure we've got somebody to cover. Also still need to get rid of a few players....

With all due respect to Pards, I don't think Liverpool, if the times comes, will be looking at a newly appointed Leauge 1 manager. Which is good for us! Liverpool will be able to attract a host of managers, even the ones allready employed at top-tier teams all over Europe. Don't think Pards would get a sniff, IMHO.

Second.... and also hope you're right!

Agree with the choice of Lambert. If for nothing else, I have a dream of seeing a Saints player as the topscorer of which ever leauge we're playing in for a long time now. As I expect Lambert will score a hatfull, the added goals on penalties is a helping hand to add more to his tally.

Uwe Rosler is working for Ostenstad at Viking Stavanger as manager.
-
Ken Monkou is running a pancake house in Delft, The Netherlands

Peter Madsen is playing at Brondby as is Mikael Nilsson, who also still gets into the Sweden national XI for strange reasons. Ronnie Ekelund is now working as Technical Advisor at San Jose Earthquakes in the MLS. Anders Svensson is playing at Elfsborg in the Swedish Premier Leauge.

Rickie Lambert - most expensive 3rd tier player of all time?

Rasiak is at Reading now, right?!... -
It isn't??!!

I'll have a go at this: Simple 4-4-2: GK - Davis RB - Murty CB - Trottman CB - Jaidi LB - Harding RM - Mellis CM - Hammond CM - Spiderman LM - Mills ST - Lambert ST - Papa Smurf Subs: Bartman Thomas James Lallana Saganowski
-
I take it, you don't think it'll happen then?
-
Sure why not! ...and I never knew sheep could fly untill I saw a ram hanging in a wire!

As I said, know it's a long shot, but the thing is that he's been in his current situation for a while, and I totally agree that some other club would come in for him. But it should have happend sooner. So, why not us?.... ... I know - leauge status and all that!
-
Current training with the Reserves at Juventus and not in the managers plans at the moment is Christian Poulsen, Danish CM. Know he might not be interested and Liverpool has been luring... But if Pards, Nicola and Marcus can persuade him, CM would be sorted! It's a long shot, but worth an approach IMHO
-
AP made a point after QPR (?) that more height was needed at CB... Perry is not good enough, and Thomas is too injured.. Two new CB's IMHO...
-
Why sign him now, if we're only going to loan him out?? Makes absolutely no sense at all, as we need to strengthen our own squad. Your idea, is about as stupid as they come - FFS

Nordstrand would also be on the list, but again.... Prospect of playing Champions Leauge, on the verge of the national squad... needs to be playing top-level football, not Leauge 1. We need to find the gems, that are not too obvious for everyone else. Left-back at AGF Aarhus, Michael Lumb, is also a good target, but with Harding and Fish already at the club, I don't see the need at the moment. A utility player like Ulrik Lindkvist at the same club however could be tempted. It all depends on the ambitions of Leibherr, Cortese and Pardew. There's nothing wrong with the facilites at Saints.. (stating the obvious, I know)... it's the -10 points in Leauge 1, that would scare most players away.

One player, I believe Saints should take a very good look at, is Jonas Kamper, currently playing at Arminia Bielefeld in the German 2.Bundesliga. He's the classic right winger, with good skills. Been in German football for three years now, so his contract is due. Very good technical skills and a fun player to watch.

Huseklepp is THE prospect in Norwegian football at the moment. After Molde sold Mame Biram Diouf to Manchester United, Huseklepp is widely regarded as the player with most potential. Problem is, every mayor club in Europe is aware of this as well, so I think we're out of luck on this one. Speaking of Stig Johansen - still plays at Bodø/Glimt. There are a few other players, that might be attracted to Saints. Egil Østenstad is Director of Football at Viking Stavanger and Uwe Rösler is manager there. Given this connection with Saints, we should have a look at Tomasz Sokolowski (Polish by birth, but Norwegian citizen). Plays holding/defensive midfielder, with good passes, tackles and sometimes even a decent long shot. Is the work horse at Viking.

If the club approached me to become their Scandinavian scout, I'd be more than happy to have a go at it

Totally agree, and he would be on my list. The problem is that he just signed for FC Copenhagen last year from Esbjerg. So the club would really have to splash the cash on this one. Vingaard is on the verge of breaking into the national squad as a replacement for Martin Jørgensen of Fiorentina, who's getting a bit too old now (32). Not a prospect for Saints, as he's been qouted of wanting to finish his career, where he started, at AGF Aarhus.

At the moment, both Norwegian and Swedish football is suffering from lacking youth programs at the top clubs. Especially in Norway, clubs are relying on foreign and EU-players and old home-grown ones. This makes for lack of consistency at all the clubs. Younger players are not getting blooded the right way or being called on again and again, like we are doing. The number-one transfer target in Norway at the moment is Erik Huseklepp of Brann Bergen, who is rumoured to sign for Rennes. Don't know much about Swedish football, but the pattern seems familiar to Norway. Danish Premier Leauge is in turmoil at the moment. Normal powerhouses like FC Copenhagen and Brøndby are struggling a bit with thin squads and (like Norway) foreign players. Tradional clubs like OB Odense, AGF Aarhus and AaB Aalborg are on the way up, but last-mentioned has just sold of most of their talented players to minor foreign clubs. This makes it very difficult to spot the right kind of players, that could do a job at Saints. Taking our leauge status into consideration, my first two recommendations would be: Søren Rieks - Central midfielder at EfB Esbjerg. Good fighter, with very good passing skills. Not afraid to try his luck from distance. Christoffer Poulsen - Centerback at FC Midtjylland. Very good defender with good aerial abilities and awareness. A bit young, but a Class A-prospect.

Make our mark??!! We were saved from the total abyss, less than two months ago! I can't understand why some people wants to see us dive head first into the transfer market, just because we have money to spend. It's like listening to spoiled kids in a candy store. Signings will be made, has been made in signing KD, Fish on longer contracts and getting Harding in on a free.. more will be made! Why another thread on this subject?? Patience is a virtue, and so far things are falling nicely into place with the owner making all the right appointments and decisions.
