Could be! But he was a better player here than at The Lane -

Meant the first move for a ton o'cash, after which he failed miserably. Came back and resurrected his career again. Agree on Bale being to soon to tell, but all the indicators are there to see. -
Been reading the threads on Saga and Surman, and it got me thinking of players that used Saints as "a window for a better club", but were actually playing their best football at Saints, and shouldn't have moved on, but did because of the money. Hassan Kachloul springs to mind as well as Kevin Davies.

Realistic expectations have replaced...

That's actually a brilliant idea!! How about also sending a card to Pards? -
Deja vu, as there are dozens of threads about tranfers, who to keep, who to go.....

I'd take Surman over Wotton any day of the week...

Got the back of my head smacked into a lamp at the pub, when a mate (and Arse-supporter) lifted me off the ground (I'm 1,88m high) when they scored in the FA Cup final. Talking about adding injury to insult.

Should have a song for the lino, as in "Can you keep up with Papa?"

Only when you're playing at Old Trafford apparantly.... if you're beating ManUtd. -
Here's my fivers worth: A: Trotman & Antonio (permanent signings please). Bring in a RB to replace Murty (keep him as cover), a striker to give us more options when Waigo returns to Fiorentina and a LM to add depth/option to switch formations. B: Saganowski, as his heart clearly isn't in it (buy him free if necessary), Pulis is a waste of money and space IMO, Molyneux, he's nowhere near the first team, Gillett and Forecast. I'd keep Lancashire for the moment. Maybe his loan spell will do him good. I would also keep an eye out for a holding defensive midfielder to replace Wotton in time.

Will be sorted in time, I'm sure. Somehow I think Nicola and Marcus already knows about this, and the issues are on their "to-do-list"
-
Still not entirely convinced.... Add a bit more pace and tackles and I will be..... But happy to see him evolve and getting better....

You cheap slag!

You might be right somewhere along the line, but for the moment I'll just sit back and laugh at Pompey

The Guardian printed an article a while back about the Danish National Team of the 80'es. Good read and very well researched. Link: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2009/oct/13/forgotten-story-denmark-1980s The one player, that made it possible for the kind of football the Danes were playing back then, was midfielder Jens Jorn Bertelsen, who with his simple passing game, endless running and fighting spirit, released other players from their defensive duties. Dean Hammond is the exact same player, making him Pardews best signing.

Couldn't agree more! Seems all the pieces are falling nicely into place for a great result and a good game against the Dons.

IMO Saga is a symbol for all that went wrong at Saints.... I think many of the players that went through the club, tended to see the place as a "last resort" or "a window to something better", not as a club they wanted to play for as a first priority. Of course I'm not speaking of the Dodds, Benalis and Le Tissiers at the club, but the Ripleys, Howells, Kenwynes and Saganowskis. This in part has to be blamed on the lack of ambitions at the club. For a long time, mere survival was the main ambition, and that's not going to attract the right sort of players. Cortese has clearly stated: "We want to to win the leauge!"... and has a long term ambition of Premier Leauge football again at St. Mary's with a few trophies in the cabinet. That is the sort of ambition that'll attrackt good players to the club. Look how fast they convinced Lambert, Harding, Hammond & Jaidi to sign.
