Fantastic read. I grew up with English football on the telly. Every Saturday afternoon they (we only had the one channel) would broadcast one of the games from the 1.division and later The Premier League. At the same time the scores from 12 other games on that weeks bets on 13 games would appear with a "dong" on the top of the screen...and people followed this more faithfully than going to church. It also meant that almost every club in England got a mention in the papers as people were planning their bets, counting their wins and losses as well as growing into a supporter of a particular team. In the 80'ies it was all Liverpool, Nottingham Forrest, Tottenham and Manchester United. They kept going in the 90'ies along with Arsenal and whoever was having a good season. As more and more Danish and Scandinavian players came into the leauge (Jesper Olsen and Peter Schmeichel ensured loads of Danish Manchester United supporters from afar). I started supporting Saints in ´96. I also have the enternal love for the underdog. Matt LeTissier was that underdog in football for me. Extremely brilliant and talented and despite all his talents he kept playing for this one team, never winning anything apart from a loyal fanbase. Danish media picked up on this when Ekelund came to the club. Every now and then I would hear other supporters saying "that f*cking LeTissier again!".. and it always made me smile.

The good news just keep on coming these days. Claus has been divorced from his wife through 12 years. http://www.kjendis.no/2014/07/01/kjendis/claus_lundekvam/brudd/skilsmisse/fotball/34120635/ Translated: After twelve years as man and wife, the former football star Claus Lundkvam (41) and his wife Nina (39) decided to end the marriage. Lundekvam confirms this to the magazine "Look and Listen". Still good friends - Yes, it's true that I and Nina have gone apart and will be separated. It has been a long process, but we are still good friends, he tells the magazine. The TV2 expert married in Jamaica in 2002, but he has known wife since he was 18 years old. The couple has two daughters aged 10 and 15 years together. - Now it will be to start with a clean slate. The most important thing is to look ahead. As a result of the breach, the couple now sells their 260 square meter large villa in Bergen with a price tag of 7.5 million NOK. National team Claus Lundekvam started his football career at Brann Bergen in 1993, but had his breakthrough when he was brought in by the Premier League club Southampton in 1996. He had 411 appearances for the English club, as well as 40 caps for Norway. The 41-year-old retired from football in 2008 and has recently worked as a football expert for TV2. In 2010 he told openly about his past drug and alcohol abuse, which led him to let himself into rehab.

Jeez.... we've only sold 3 from a team that finished 8th.... and you want to bring in 8? Can't imagine the number if we sell two more....

Suits me fine. I live in Norway....and besides, we've been at it almost constantly since the 15 century. This current phase is just a temporary cease-fire.

How else would a manager leave a club? I do agree with you that the length of stay at each club has been relatively short and the root of the problem at each club has been transfer policy.

Problems with signings and transfers.... Laudrups agent, Bayram Tutumlo, has had several hats with the signing of Pablo Hernandez as the latest.

A team of Academy Products - the Rupert Lowe dream...
Danish Saint replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
Lowe at least got one decission right as he hired George Prost, who really helped modernise our Academy. Untill then it all felt a bit by chance, but after Prost everything became more adapted to the modern game. -
Darren Ambrose's late equalizer for Newcastle in 2004. My first game at St. Mary's. The game was back and forth... 0-1, 1-1, 1-2, 2-2 and then Griffit scored to make it 3-2. I was in a high! My first game and we we're winning. Also debut for Alan Blayney in goal and then Griffit (who looked like a big thing) scored what had to be the winner. They also presented Kenwyne Jones as a new signing at half time. Was sat in Kingsland, and everyone around me was going mental as well.... then Ambrose equalized. Know we didn't loose, but that goal just killed the whole experience.

Familiar face still trying to help Saints
Danish Saint replied to studentsaint's topic in The Saints
He's just too slow, both in feet and mind. Never suited for our style of play.
