Two firefighters die in Southampton blaze...
Barry the Badger replied to saint lard's topic in The Lounge
I imagine that would be up to the families. -
To take an isolated case. My cousin is a primary school teacher. They have stopped doing 'nativity' plays for fear of upsetting non-christian parents/pupils. But....As far as he knows, this was not in response to any complaints at all from non-christian parents, but more of a precautionary measure to avoid potential problems. I find it hard to judge, not being particularly religious myself, but it does seem that a lot of the time there is a tendancy to create an issue where there really isn't one.

...and these are the people controlling the World's wealth

Whilst to a large extent I agree with the sentiment... we are not as advanced as we like to think. We were still hanging people in this country just 50 years ago. It was only a few hundred years ago we were hanging people for witchcraft. Although that seems like a long time to us, it really isn't in the grand scheme of things. -
I believe there is life elsewhere in the universe. I don't believe they are here abducting us.

You mean you didn't have to find out the results whilst you were in Germany? Call yourself a supporter?

He will need to do it over a whole career to be considered up there with the greats, IMO. Awesome at the moment though.

I was always under the impression that the single move rule was more to stop people moving about in the braking zones. Also as Arizona said, Hamilton wasn't blocking Petrov but trying to break the slipstream, which is slightly different. Sensible stewarding I thought, for once.

Any word on Spiderman?

I don't go to any games. I hate football. I don't even know what I'm doing here.

Surely the difference is that Silverspoons was sh*t, whereas Stu appears to have delivered what he promised.

And we would have a monkey-chicken.

Got all but the right back after 3 mins, still stuck on that bastard now though -
I did read the whole thing, but I didn't really understand what your point was.

We got lucky in the sense that we we might have ended up with potless chancers or some faceless consortium running the club instead of Liebherr and Cortese....

We will surpass it in the playoff final :-)

Just how I like 'em.

Not sure. According to that site we lost 1-0 to City on 1st May 93. I assume that was last home game of the season.

Just found this site http://www.footymad.net/head-to-head-statistics/?teama=479&teamb=31 So looks like we had Villa last home game in 94 and Man City in 93.. But some of the memories of Villa invading the pitch do ring a bell so this could well be the game I was thinking of and just getting muddled with City the previous season.

I'm assuming you are on a wind up, but will bite anyway. It could so easily have been different, we got lucky.

My mate at work fell for it. When I got in he had sent me an email moaning about it.

I've tried googling this but no luck, wonder if anybody can help... I had a random memory pop back to me yesterday, it's of being at a game at the Dell, I was with my Uncle so probably not that old. At a guess it was between 1990-1994. Pretty sure it was the last game or last home game of the season and I think we might've been playing Man City. I remember a bloke turning to my uncle and saying something like "it's all about to kick off, best get him out of here", and then remember us leaving pretty bloody quickly. So, for those with good memories, can anybody remember this game? Did we play Man City in the last home game one season? Any memories of the match or if things did get a bit lively at the end? Of course, my memory might have just made this up.

and Sunday also showed that he can't rugby tackle for sh*t.

I think the whole Cortese thing is just a reflection on Football itself. So Cortese worked in the financial industry right? Well in that industry if you say to your team "I expect better, we are not doing well enough" then that is a kick up the arse and the team think they better buck their ideas up. However, you say that in football and everybody assumes the manager is about to get the boot, rather than taking it as the kick up the arse it was intended to be.

No no no no no no no no no no no no. I can't believe we are all having this conversation again. Ricky Lambert is a Saints football genius, but he is NOT better than Carlton Cole.

Me too, I was ecstatic at getting my seats in block 134 as I thought thats where the Northam was heading. Was looking forward to an amazing atmosphere. In the end it was just us and a few lads around us singing, I did get a bit frustrated with the silent majority eventually.
