  1. Already? Really? Wow. Genuinely amazing.
  2. Net transfer spend is one of my pet hates. It's nonsense. We spent 30m on a training ground, that didn't come from nowhere. We are quite possibly over provisioned on wages and making some of that up with yearly transfer profit. We just don't know so to suggest you take the out's, then minus the ins and the rest of the money is just sat waiting to be spent is nonsense.
  3. My thoughts are that he probably knows more about goalkeeper positioning than you do.
  4. He did say that, although I suspect it was as much to do with making our position clear for the future legal wranglings as it was a genuine belief. I'm sure by that point he knew we were struggling really, just had to keep up appearances of "yes, of course he will sign for us, we have a clause" etc.
  5. They asked him how the injury felt and he said "it feels good".
  6. We really are painfully self aware about the way we enjoy football in this country. I might buy one in the next round just to see if I get abused in the Northam for it.
  7. No I think they're wrong. Draws being carried out for the two pots simultaneously but no crossover.
  8. "the best way to silence his critics is a long time to perform well the mouth. Dirk Kuyt" Those crazy Dutchies
  9. Everybody concentrates on the scouting and signings, which is clearly something we are doing well. However I remember the days of signing what should be good or promising players only to see them get gradually worse under our coaching. These days not only do we sign sensibly but those players seem to actually improve once they get here, Mane for example is clearly being coached very effectively. It's great to see.
  10. He wasn't very influential when we had possession, but when we didn't he was very effective
  11. Completely agree, he was always a proper player, much better on the ball than fans of other teams ever realised. I just think the argument which says "x player never had any pace to lose" is nonsense. It may not have been his strength, but what mobility he had was still an important part of his game and can still decline. Sheringham was a rarity and a completely different type of player, it's a lazy comparison. Would love to see Rickie go to West Brom and do well.
  12. Just because you're slow to start with doesn't mean you can't get slower.
  13. The statement I was arguing with was "poch achieved nothing really". You definitely said that and it's definitely nonsense.
  14. and it puts him above ALL the other managers of all the other clubs who have tried and failed to improve clubs near the bottom of the Premier League. So many have tried, so many have fallen far short of what Pochettino did with us. I love that you are trying to use Pulis as an example, he did a quality job at Stoke. Are you trying to suggest otherwise?
  15. Absolute nonsense. Taking a club from relegation candidates to an 8th place finish is an achievement. Like it or not he took us up a level, there might not have been a 'promotion' but he raised the bar and did a great job here.
  16. Perhaps they'll invest it into other areas of the club.
  17. Well written article, and I agree with the main points, but I do think you've over egged the point about fans rolling their eyes and thinking we're a selling club. All of the saints fans I know are understanding of the clubs position, realistic enough to know this is how it is, and trust the club to bring in decent replacements. That perhaps wasn't the case last year when it felt a lot less controlled, but I don't think these "many fans" really exist.
  18. Don't be an arse. You know what he meant.
  19. Not sure who was worse, us or that commentator.
  20. That was amazing to watch. What an incredible player.
  21. Yes because money received for transfers just goes into its own account and is ringfenced for transfers in and is definitely never spent on things like wages, training grounds, the academy etc. Just take what has come in, minus what has been spent on transfers, and we must have that money sitting around doing nothing.
