Those pedants among us would understand that a new decade would start on the 1st January of a year ending in a one (e.g. tomorrow) so you're all wrong. If you don't believe me, go back to the start of the A.D era (the year AD1) and count forward in tens - the decade ends today , not a year ago or last May. Now I'm going out to try to find a life..zzzzzzzzzz.....

Puncheon. Does anybody know what happened to him?

feeling a bit embarassed to be a Saints fan tonight
Aardvark replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
Harsh - one small misjudgement maybe, but he was one of the few (only?) players to come out of that season with any credit. Look to a tall gangling Norwegian for a scapegoat if you want - he had an appalling season -
Frankly that is nonsense. It is more likely to win a 24 team league than a 48 team knock out tournament - the number of games makes no difference, it's the number of teams 1 in 24 as against 1 in 48.

I sort of agree with you, but it does beg the question as to why you waste so much of your time on a football fans' forum if you're so emotionally detatched?

I saw Bill once. I didn't rate him very highly - I don't see what St Mary sees in him.

:cool:Thank you so much for pointing out the bleeding obvious. I now understand how an opinion poll works and that it's based on people's personal opinions - some of which might actually vary! I'm now busy trying to get my head round this concept of " not voting for Harding if I don't rate him" - I'll do my best. It's precisely because this a "forum" not "renowned for everybody thinking the same thing" that I feel able to air my (obviously very different from most other posters) personal views - and that you are of course free to ridicule them. The fact that 99% of you think he's brilliant does not mean I'm necessarily wrong.

Which presumably opens the door for us to take him on another year's loan deal and then dump him when we reach the Promised Land this time next year. We'll have bigger fish to fry by then.

Having been to every single home league match this season, I seem to have woken up in some sort of parallel universe wher Dan Harding is a "great" player. Lambert, Hammond, Davis, Schneiderlain, Lallana, Antonio, Fonte, Jaidi, Barnard and Connolly are just ten names off the top of my head who have been better players for us this season. All I read above is Harding, Harding Harding...........zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Am I really alone with this view? Is there really nobody out there who would rate him as not much better than ordinary!!?? :prayer::prayer::prayer::confused:
-
Am I the only one who thinks that the two full back positions, namely Harding and Otsemebor, are our relatively weak points? We have a very strong spine from Davis through Fonte and Jaidi, then Schneiderlain and Hammond up to Lambert and Barnard. We have quality on the wings with the likes of Puncheon and Lallana. All of the above named would fare well IMO at at least Championship level, and are certainly top class players at Division 3 level. However I remain unconvinced about the two full backs - they're both OK at this level but not outstanding. This is the main area in which we need to strengthen.

JFW! (Oh sorry that means Jesus flipping wept) Thanks for your help - is there an acronym for ABE (absolutely bloody everything) now!!??

What is IIRC FFS?

It would be interesting then if he (or somebody else) could compile a similar table from Jan 1st or Feb 1st. Norwich's performance is particularly impressive as I seem to recall they had a poor start to the season - and I'm not just talking about the 7-1 opening day defeat, I can remember them being down with us in the bottom four during those opening weeks.

It's reassuring to know we have a ready made replacement for when Barcelona and Chelsea come along to poach Wotton.

Sod the volcano, we'll fly there ourselves - look, like this!

Unfortunately due to prior arrangements - in a bar in Paris. This has to be one of the dullest threads ever - just a list of people's seat numbers! and no it isn't sour grapes!
-
er.... I think you just did!
-
Sorry, but who's Jonny?
-
That can be awful - I've got that permanently, what with the wife saying, " Sinus a cheque for this and sinus a cheque for that........" very debilitating!
-
Badly.
-
Perhaps some confusion was caused by my use of the term "Division Two" instead of the ridiculously named "Championship". If you thought I was talking about League Two or lower then I can understand your point.
-
I really don't see where you're coming from at all. On the first point, as Pancake rightly states, all the outstanding fixtures would simply be cancelled and rendered as void as the so far completed fixtures. Apart from relatively minor logistics such as ticket refunds what exactly is the "major headache" in the context of a 100+ year old football club's life? As for your second point perhaps you would care to actually read what I wrote. The scenario by which Portsmouth would end up as a Division 2 club or even worse, do a "Leeds" and sink to the third tier, would be in the event of them NOT going into liquidation - i.e. being bought or entering administration; in other words it is the best possible scenario (in my opinion of course). In the event of liquidation the club would obviously cease to exist and have to follow the likes of Aldershot, Accrington and Wimbledon in rising up from a rebirth in the lowest echelons. The (admittedly arguable) values I put on the club represent what the club is worth NOW - NOT after liquidation when the value would be presumably zero.
-
What's the problem? Simply expunge their results and recalculate the table - I could do that in 20 minutes. The big question for those doubting the likelihood of impending liquidation is: Why would any potential investor wish to buy a club with a net value of anywhere between MINUS £40,000,000 and MINUS £100,000,000 (depending on sources) and almost certainly heading for Division Two (at best) and quite likely in Leeds like fashion, beyond that ? What is the possible payback for such a deal?
-
Papa ****o in case it wasn't clear.
