If in doubt, just ask yourself - what would Jason Statham do? I think he'd probably be cool and hard, staring into the middle distance with a slightly pitying look in his eye. So that's what I do, because he's *well* brilliant

And yet we still can't even agree on here what sounds best, let alone get everyone singing it the same

Pleasure mate. F3K is literally next door to West Ken tube so 4 stops on the District, 10 mins, you're in. Enjoy!

If you're west, the Famous Three Kings in West Ken is normally a good bet, and you tend to get a few Saints fans in there. http://www.f3k-london.co.uk/Venue.aspx Edit: Actually, they're not currently listing it as one of the matches they'll have on, but it's a sports bar so I'm sure if you ask them they will prioritise it over the Bundesliga etc that they're currently saying will be on. Give them a call.

The slightly quicker, shouty version of OWTS, with the repeat after 'OWTS' and 'GMI', that went on for about 15 minutes sounded awesome last night. Deafening, lairy, and everyone in time. Given that large numbers of our fans don't seem to be able to get their heads around the version with two full slow verses, and it can get a bit mangled with some people speeding up at the end of the first verse and some people not, should we just agree that its one slow verse, then into the shouty bit, and then keep that going for ages? We need consistency here people

He is slightly barking isn't he. I love him.

Should Brighton be investigated for Saturdays game ?

I love the idea that it was related to that 0-0 match in 1978. I can see Gus's team talk now. "Right lads, before most of you were born, this club, that as professional footballers most of you have no real emotional attachment to and are only passing through for a short space of time, missed out on promotion to a league that doesn't exist anymore. Some people were quite cross about a scoreline that happened that year. Because of this, I'd like you to go out this afternoon, humiliate yourselves and me, and blow any remaining chance we have of getting a shot at a £40m promotion which would mean huge pay rises for everyone." Yep, sounds plausible. -

Perception of the atmosphere totally depends where you are sat. I'm normally in the Northam/Kingsland corner, where our fans usually seem deafening and you only really notice the away fans if they score or get a major chant going. Last night I sat in block 3 for the first time, couldn't hear the Northam or Kingsland at all, and it seemed like their fans were unbelievably loud and singing pretty much constantly. Felt like we were being totally outsung. I guess that was down to being in front of them, in the direction the sound travels, rather than off to one side. Yet others say they could only hear their lot sing when they scored. Weird, innit.

Is the reading game sold out? - answer: yes!

I just got a single ticket for Block 3 but only one row available and was told there are not many left. -
I think it was actually the club who 'positioned him as the voice of the club', when they gave him the role of 'Club Spokesman and Head of Media'?

A table at an awards ceremony like that is usually about £150 per person or £1,000 for a full table. Two tables = two grand. I doubt they drank water all night, so you can chuck in another grand on premium priced booze for twenty people. So that's three grand of the St John's Ambulance's money they've spunked on a jolly fun p*ss up. Stay classy lads

No I got music for 15 mins, then it started ringing (for about another minute), then got through to the lovely John. Stick it out! -
Pompey's demise leads to SFC promotion

Agree 100%. Some people need to get a bit of perspective and some humility. Remember how you felt when we were going to lose our club. No-one deserves that. -

A question for the mods about this main board
Midfield_General replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
For me Alpine its the fact that you only ever seem to spring out of the woodwork when something's gone wrong, or you've got something bad to highlight. It comes across as though you actively revel in the bad stuff, and want to whip everyone else into a frenzy of despair too. It comes across as though you love it and it makes you happy when things are going badly. That is why people question whether you are a 'supporter' in the normal sense, because most supporters do exactly that - 'support', i.e. try and be a positive force - but you don't seem to want to do that. -

Someone found/ posted this on another thread earlier, but thought it deserved it's own (thanks to the OP): You can now download the ringtone: http://www.mediafire.com/?gt7eamr6ph59gzg And just so I'm adding something, here's how to get it onto your iPhone (bit complicated, but worth it): http://www.simonblog.com/2010/09/06/how-to-create-ringtone-for-iphone-on-itunes-10/ -
Apols if it's been posted before but it's the first time I've seen it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atpGGmr2iaw&feature=related

I live round the corner from Arsenal and go to the Emirates a few times a year. That first name/ last name thing is embarrassing. Only about 1 in 10 people do it, and the ones who do generally look/sound a bit sheepish when they're doing it because no-one else joins in. The overall effect is as cringey as printing out songsheets and distributing them before the game (which they also tried in a desperate attempt to get some atmosphere going. It didn't work.)

Good grief. Although it explains a lot.
