  1. Asking/expecting Bazunu to catch anything feels pretty brave.
  2. Look, we've tried several different managers over the past year and it clearly isn't working. No manager. That's the future. Can't get fired if you don't exist.
  3. Inclined to agree with the OP. If I wanted to spend my afternoon listening to an overweight bloke moan, I'd put on that video of Mitch Le Tiss balls-deep in his missus.
  4. My attitude's normally 'any chant over silence', but fucking hell. He's picked a pretty route one method to out himself as a sex offender.
  5. How have I never seen this golden thread? 😁 Surely some feel a bit daft reading this back?!
  6. Only just seen this comment, but you can have both. Pochettino certainly did when he was here.
  7. Yes, yesterday was a shitshow. But reading the comments here it feels like many were primed to attack at the first possible opportunity. Almost a perverse glee to it. Personally, I believe we'll learn from this. And if we don't, those gunning for Martin will fairly swiftly get their wish.
  8. He's a cretin, with a long history of bad takes. If his outset on Saints matches his outset on life it's a wonder he manages to get out of bed in the morning. Alpine Saint for the Pokémon generation.
  9. We've never struggled with atmosphere and/or limbs after a goal. So it just seems unnecessary. Kinda crushes the genuine reaction.
  10. Surely my favourite ever post on here. This thread. 😂
  11. Could it also be that rather than paying in instalments they've offered to pay more (or all of it) upfront?
  12. Well. All feels a bit odd today! 1. Having won our first game of the season; 2. Having won, full stop; 3. It essentially being the first day of the league today - but there being zero stress or pressure on us. The Adkins-ism of "don't get too high when you win" certainly applies. But after the last few years, allow me this temporary little buzz, please.

    New ref approach

Haven't we said for years that if the actual laws of the game were enforced, players would soon stop the dissent? I'd say the high number of cards yesterday was more a good cross-section of the state of dissent than a damning indictment on this new approach. If you don't want soft cards and to potentially harm your team it's simple: cut it out. RE: more added time, the average time the ball is in play has been observed at circa 55 minutes. Too often I've seen 3 minutes added on in a second half where there's been 6 substitutions, a goalkeeper wasting entire minutes at a time, etc. etc. This may not be the perfect solution but it's a step in the right direction.
  14. Almost a week on from the first reports of season tickets arriving and no sight of mine. Yes, there's a week and a half to go yet. But we do like to leave things late, don't we?
  15. It'll be interesting to see how quickly (or not) we mobilise for transfers in. We're clearly not hanging about with clearing the squad bloat. Getting Orsic out of the building seems a positive. He wasn't up for it, so no point holding off.
  16. Finished work at 23.55 last night, impulsively threw caution to the wind and renewed just before the 'loyalty price' deadline. Definitely can't afford it - but I guess I won't have to sell my body too many times to pay it off... Had a personalised bit of post from the club early this week which said 78% of my block had already renewed. Guessing that'll have headed towards 90%+ by the end of yesterday? Be interesting to see whether that extrapolates to the rest of the stadium.
  17. It was yesterday evening that I watched his interview so I can't recall the exact wording. But I took what Martin said as the playing style being a mix of disciplines. He certainly made it sound pragmatic, rather than the one-dimensional playing style that keeps getting mentioned on here.
  18. I'm re-running my budget to see whether I can fit in a ST renewal, so thought I'd go through the checkout process and double-check the final figure. Turns out that if you want to spread the payment via Direct Debit you're not allowed to use any credit that's built up on your account. Seems a bit unneccesarily restrictive to me. Money's tight enough my end that it could make the difference between renewing and not. 🤷‍♂️
  19. Only just noticed this thread. Didn't realise Lambo had gone the way of Le Tiss. 😪 Just need Kevin Phillips, Shane Long and Joe Aribo to join in to complete the 'Premier League #7' set.
  20. Bit wary of attempting to look up what his company 'Beat That' provides. 😳
  21. All too aware of this from 2nd January 2016. Drove up with a mate, somehow still hungover from NYE. Wanyama sent off and we limply lost 1-0. The drive home was in silence, mentally cursing the A11. Which I swear is one of the most boring roads in the land.
  22. Lots of fantastic cask about, too - we get through tons of Vibrant Forest, Dark Revolution, Steam Town, Eight Arch, Flower Pots et al at The Hook. Plenty of less traditional, nationally-recognised breweries dipping their toes into cask, too. Have had some glorious pints recently from the likes Cloudwater, Verdant, Kernel, Vocation... We don't have it too bad 'round these parts.
  23. That's apples and oranges, though. Trad ales are cheaper to produce. The dry-hop alone in something like Conflux will likely cost the same as the entire ingredients bill in a Flacks or Steam Town ale. Can't remember the last time I paid less than £6 a pint for the actual 1:1 equivalent of a Unity beer in, say, The Bookshop.
  24. Energy cost + ingredients cost means that's where the price is for anything that's not macro-brewed swill. If the market's not willing to pay it then fair enough. But if the inference was that it was naked profiteering then that's very much not the case. Based upon my own experience of the industry and the continuing success of places like Olaf's Tun, The Butcher's Hook, The Bookshop Alehouse, The Dancing Man etc. I feel it's fairly clear that there's still a desire for quality beer in the city, even if the pricepoint's premium. I've seen successful taprooms in far more obscure areas so am not sure the location's necessarily a critical issue either. And for any brewery worth its salt, the taproom's an extra arm of revenue rather than making up the bread & butter of sales.
  25. Not myself, as I'm running an Omnipollo tap takeover at The Butcher's Hook, Friday to Sunday. Copped some flak from one of the CAMRA guys for daring to put something on at the same time as the festival. But surely fringe events are a good thing? 🤷‍♂️ Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how Unity 2.0 pans out. Good beer in more places isn't to be sniffed at. Just hope they remain authentic to the brewing as-was.
