  1. I agree it is worrying but I would expect Pinnacle to play hardball in public otherwise the FL will not feel under any pressure to back down. If Pinnacle had indicated that they might backdown then the FL will just say no as there would not be any real consequences.
  2. LOL! And somewhere off-picture, Crouch and Wotte are organising a party of 30 fans with shovels, while Lowe takes pot shots at them with his shotgun.
  3. Wildly optimistic guess, wind-up, rumour, or fact?
  4. Just upgraded to full member on this auspicious day! +1 I can't believe (well actually I can sadly) the idiots slagging this guy off when in the end he is leaving rather graciously
  5. kk may take time according to The Sun as he still has to work out compensation with Newcastle.
  6. Losing to Everton 6-1 away sometime in the mid-1980s. Oh hang on, I was drunk that day. Still fondly remember the chant of "you only sing where your five up" when we rallied to 5:1. Got a wry chuckle from Barry Davis on MotD if I recall.
  7. Just a thought but since this story is now on SSN, the BBC and other news outlets, would we expect a denial from KK by this evening if there is absolutely nothing in it?
  8. Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. I can understand the distress that it may cause others. I won't take him for a year or two. He watched Matt Le Tissiers Unbelievable DVD today and was excited everytime Matty scored from the edge of the box. I enjoyed telling him that I was there for that goal and that one etc etc.... Great days the 1980s.
  9. Thanks for the info. Fair enough - which stand will you be in? I don't get the joke. Sorry. It was an honest question.
  10. A quick question about the all-stars game. I'm thinking of taking my son who is just under one year old to his first match and was wondering whether there were any restrictions on age at St Mary's? Presumably I would need to buy him his own ticket - you do at Wembley. Any thoughts appreciated, Ian
  11. One of the possible interested parties might be the fella currently at Birmingham - David Gold - I think. I remember when we had the last wave of take overs that he was selling up his shares at Birmingham and looking to reinvest in another club. They interviewed him on 5Live and he even mentioned wanting to buy a southern club. Maybe the circumstances have long changed for this one as I think the sale of Birmingham fell through didn't it? However, he may still have been interested enough to make an enquiry.
  12. Just turned the telly off in disgust - first time ever! I don't blame Lowe / Crouch / Wotte / JP / Dodd ... . I blame the players! We need to (a) get rid of all these high-salary veterans (b) develop youngsters that are strong (physical and mental) and not highly strung race horses.
  13. Depends if they are still hung over from the rugby.
  14. Weather is probably playing havoc with any plans. It will be very difficult to rush players around the country for that all important medical. Isn't Southampton airport closed as well?
  15. Blimey you've got good eye-sight! Or have you been tampering with the CCTV feeds again?
  16. May be it is because Skacel and Saga have been playing more regularly than the others and Wotte feels that are part of the team?
  17. Or someone just being polite about a fellow Dutchmen who has just left the job. I think he would be castigated if he came out and send I wanted the job all along and knew I could do a better job than Jan. Some people read way too much into every snippet of info.
  18. Given that the rest of the economy is in such a mess I can't understand why anyone would spend so much on one player. It is just plain stupid. The thing that I regret is that transfers like this will perpetuate the myth that football clubs can continue to spend money they haven't got on player transfers and wages. With the decline in the spending power of Chelsea, I had hoped that clubs would start to see sense. Oh well.
  19. Exactly what Ian Holloway thought on the 5Live coverage! He assumed that all the veterans would need to be sold.
  20. TBH - I'd prefer to see Hockey Mom Palin cruncing into the tackles - a return to the good old days of Franny and Psycho.
  21. Could you tell me the lottery numbers for next week now please!
  22. Unless you have been living on Mars recently, I thought we had all realised that banks have been and will continue to make poor decisions.
  23. Typical panic reaction by OP. Stick with the current system until the new year at least, probably longer. Watching Dexter Blackstock playing so well reminded me of the need for patience. Maybe DM will play like Dexter if given time and not constantly threatened with the bench as he learns his trade. We are where we are. I for one believe that we will pick up enough points to avoid the drop this year and maybe with the kids blooded we can push on next year. Any more turmoil now will simply delay the complete overhaul that this clud has needed for some time.
  24. Saints have had a poor defence for quite a few years now despite some of the defenders being very good on paper. Whenever I've watched them I've always felt we could concede at any moment. To me the problem is the midfield, they don't provide enough cover for the back four. One example today was late in the second half when Dyer came back to defend and then just let his man go causing a mismatch.
