  1. This.
  2. Or may be the family didn't understand his obsession with an English football club and think they have better things to spend the money on. Although undoubtedly they loved and respected Marcus at the end of the day he is gone and it is their money.
  3. If Wigan beat Swansea but lose to Arsenal and Villa lose to Chelsea. Both teams will have 38 points for final game. They play each other in the final game. So the best both teams can do is 39 points. Our superior goal difference will keep us up (just) if we don't win another point.
  4. I think he is a shrewd businessman who makes the right decisions for the business. Saying that I don't like the way he has sometimes gone about things like the sacking of Nigel. He would argue that you don't have to like him so long as he gets results for the shareholders but I think it also highlights the moral vacuum that exists in places within the business world.
  5. As others have said, a protest may make us feel better but will NC actually notice? Prefer to make it a celebration / appreciation of all that Nigel Adkins has done for the club with the crowd chanting his name for positive reasons!
  6. He said two guys so who is the other one?
  7. I know I am clutching at straws here but could we be getting a Director of Football?
  8. The player would never join us if a club like Liverpool are interested. We would simply end up as the stalking horse to push the Liverpool deal through.
  9. Merry xmas everyone!
  10. Notwithstanding that we sign a dream line-up by the end of the transfer window, I see us in the Championship Top 3 next Christmas. The core of the players will have remained from our nail-biting last day relegation from the Premiership and Nigel will still be in charge. We will probably have lost Lambert, Cork, and Ramirez in the Summer but held on to Lallana and Shaw. Jay-Rod will be scoring for fun with Billy Sharp back from his Forest loan chipping in with a few. There will be much talk about the creativity of Lallana and Mayuka, and continued interest from the Big 4 in Luke Shaw.
  11. LOL at you if you think our football isn't commercialised on a day when UEFA imposed a fine for racism less than the amount levied on a player for inappropriate sponsorship. At least NFL tries to get parity with a salary cap.
  12. In with the away fans by mistake when we beat Man Utd 4:1 in the Littlewoods Cup and Big Ron lost his job the following day. When Alan Shearer scored his hat trick to be the youngest player to score a hat trick in the First Division. When we lost 6:1 to Everton at Goodison Park and the fans were singing "You only sing when your five up" and they promptly scored again. Got a chuckle from Barry Favies on MOTD highlights.
  13. If only Lawro had been right every week then we would be comfortably midtable by now.
  14. I'm backing Nige. Where have all those reasonable voices gone from the Summer? It was always going to be tough. We are building for the long term with our squad and the supporting facilities. If we go down it won't be the end of the world. Frankly I am amazed by the short term view that leads clubs only to offer stupid wages to mercenaries trading on one good season about ten years ago. So let's sign "experience" like Kieron Dyer ..... No thanks. To those idiots demanding a change - why don't you grow a pair.
  15. Never thought I would say this before the start of the season but Jose is looking a lot better than Jos.
  16. If he was biased in any way it was to pick out and criticise the full back play on both sides - may be deservedly so. Top summariser. BTW speaking of the full backs. It was very noticeable that Adkins likes the full backs to tuck in. This does make us rather narrow and gives the wide men a lot of room to pick out a cross. I assume this is to make use more compact down the middle. If the full backs are tucked in are we expecting our wide players to press the wingers / fullbacks getting down the sides a bit more?
  17. Plus Jay Rod £6M, Clyne £2.5M etc...
  18. Only a few more to go!
  19. May be it is like the Tevez situation a few years ago when the agent also owned part of the player rights?
  20. I agree we probably have more to spend than £5m if we want to. However, the £7m bid for Jay-Rod is probably the top-end figure with all add-ons. Up front figure may be only £5m. I remember we sold Walcott for £12m but only received £6-7m.
  21. Not sure we would pay £3 million for an understudy.
  22. Ate a few words after today but still think Jos needs a bigger and stronger partner.
  23. At least a partner for Jos. A right midfielder / right winger. Depth everywhere else.
