  1. Yet another peddling of this ridiculous fallacy (see my earlier post above). Possibly the single biggest reason I am an atheist is its position of consideration of evidence. If overwhelming evidence came along to support God then I, like most atheists I know of, would be prepared to consider it. As there is none we don't, as per the age old Chocolate Teapot argument. But while we can't disprove it, and so "know for certain", that in no way makes us into agnostics.
  2. Guys, relax. Mark will turn things around and all this will be Wotte under the bridge!
  3. http://www.kentnews.co.uk/kent-news/Tonnes-of-timber-washes-ashore-along-coast-newsinkent20013.aspx?news=local Sorry but there is literally no debate about it's legality. As for it "going to waste", contractors have been appointed by the insurers to recover the lost cargo. Their intention is to get it all back to the rightful owners. I see no difference between this situation and the £50 example given. They know where it is, they know who it belongs to and they're going back to get it.
  4. You missed out the word "lose" mate.
  5. So if you dropped a £50 note on the floor and someone snatched it before you could pick it up it'd be ok would it? The wood legally belongs to its owners and any attempt to prevent it's return is theft.
  6. Actually there has been no change in ownership recently. The current structure has been in place for some time, but only recently has the decision been made to ditch the Norwich Union name in GB and make it more joined up in the whole of Europe. It's purely a rebranding exercise. The Aviva name was an original term with no prior connotations chosen partly for it's appeal as a palindrome, that is a fact.
  7. I don't think it's necessarily right that the person who comes second in this poll should automatically make the B Team. James Beattie is currently second as I look at it, but that's excluding the 55 people who are voting for Ron Davies, who wouldn't be eligible for the B Team as things stand. Those people are far more likely to recognise that Phil Boyer is a better pick, or even someone like Keegan (where is he in this poll btw!?!?!?). Can I suggest we have a separate vote after this one for the Best Left Sided Striker To Go Into The Team Of Second Best Players after this one? Maybe we could have a similar vote for all the other positions too. Vote Big Phil!
  8. I sometimes forget that football wasn't invented until 1996. Well done on tracking down that list.
  9. Good letter. Well done.
  10. Is it just me that sees the irony in there being about twenty seperate threads about us uniting as fanbase?
  11. I don't know where you got this from - it certainly reads like a quote - but it is wrong. I am an atheist but do not claim to know with absolute certainty that God does not exist as your article implies. I have just found no evidence for it or heard any argument that does not turn out to be seriously flawed under scrutiny, and so dismiss it along with fairies and Invisible Pink Unicorns. I can't say for sure they don't exist, but I don't waste my time on them on the off chance they do. Dawkins says something similar - on a scale of 1 to 7 where 1 is absolute belief in God and 7 is absolute disbelief, Christians would be 1 whereas he would be 6. This is precisely the reason for the word "probably" in the bus slogan. I also take issue with the person who said Atheism is not a position and should not be promoted. Atheism, like religion, forms the basis of many people's views, belief systems and moral codes. Strictly you may say terms like Rationalist and Humanist should really be applied but broadly they amount to the same thing. One belief shared by many atheists, for example, is that society should be based on secular principles. The American Constitution for example was drawn up explicity on this basis and nowhere does it appeal to God, Christianity, Jesus, or any supreme being. I can see the point you are making that the absence of it does not significant in isolation - it also does not mention butterscotch popcorn to my knowledge - but when the prevailing climate is one where religion is dominant it is quite a statement. And to the person who says to believe in Adam and Eve is to believe in incest - this is a complete non-argument. Evolutionary theory states we all originate from a common source. Any two people alive share a common ancestor, as they do with any gorilla, giraffe or sea sponge. Whether you appeal to Creation or Evolution, you find that they both imply 'incest'.

Nah mate I'm fine. The usual aches and pains but nothing out of the ordinary. I'm still playing 5 aside, why do you ask? EDIT: Ooops, didn't see the the thread title!
  13. If this is the universal truth you seem to think it is then how come he never made the A Team on his own merit in the Right Side. For my money, whether better that Ron on an individual basis or not, I'm going for Phil Boyer in the A Team as he is more suited to the left side and would be a better foil for Channon with his intelligent runs. On the right side - Davies every time, but Boyer for me on the left.
  14. Tbf, you can't remember the name of a left-back who played for us just a few seasons ago! I've read all the arguments on this thread so far, and I've changed my opinion. I don't think Phil Boyer should get in ahead of Ron Davies any more - rpb makes a good point - so can I change my vote to Big Ron please? If this isn't possible could we redo this whole poll/thread so that I can resubmit my vote. May also be a good way of removing some of the idiots who have posted so far!
  15. Erm, I think 49 goals in 138 apps speaks for itself. Add to that the fact he was the catalyst to our great 1977/8 season where he top scored with 17 goals (many of which made by his own endevours as I recall) which got us promoted to the top flight, not to mention kept us there, and you've really highlighted the reason we were where we were for so long in the 1980s and 1990s. No contest for me. And who the hell are you, sir, to have your opinion as the cut-and-dried final vote-caster in this poll?!?!
  16. Got to be Ron Davies from that list. Can I urge everyone else NOT to vote for PHIL BOYER. While I agree he is the best candidate on the list - a true servant of the club and a real legend in every sense of the word - he deserves to be in the A team, so Big Ron comes in second.
  17. What if you've got 2 people in mind and you want one in the A Team and one in the B team. eg I want Craig Maskell in A team and Ron Davies in B team. I therefore submit Ron Davies. But then Craig Maskell doesn't win the A Team vote, Steve Basham does. So then I want Craig Maskell in the B Team, but I've already voted for Ron Davies who I now don't want. Ridicul-arse!
  18. Agree with the first point. Second point - your take on the voting would have automatically put him in the B Team. Who are you to decide that Ron Davies should defo be in the B Team? What's the point in a vote at all in that case? How so? If he didn't make the A team and gets more votes than anyone else who didn't, he'd in the B team. If he made the A team, then he's not eligable for B. The problem has arisen because the B team voting is coming before the A team. How are we meant to second guess the result of the other vote? I couldn't give a toss where Ron Davies goes - what's the point in voting for a Greatest B Team anyway? Who's going to make the D team?

  20. Vote for the first team then those that got the most votes without making it are in the B team. It's really quite simple. And who are you to decide that Ron Davies should defo be in the A team? What's the point in the vote at all in that case?
  21. Not being funny, but it seems like you've completely over-engineered this. Why not just take the person who came second in the A team poll?
  22. Are you sure it's not an Indian takeaway rather than an Indian takeover! LOL!!
