I was under the impression that the transfer window was brought in to stop clubs buying and strengthening their teams close to the end of a season. Not sure the intention was ever really to stop clubs offloading players in a crisis. I don't have a problem allowing a team to offload players to weaken their team. Otherwise are you going to ban clubs sitting top performers on the bench to prevent excessive bonuses? It's the same argument really.

What's everyone's favourite stories about Big Ron? Mine is how Saints were staying in a pre-season training camp near Barcelona's and Alan Ball met Johann Cruff in the hotel. Johann wanted to leave Bally a parting gift and said "What is it you most want?" to which Alan replied "A left sided midfielder!" The next day Big Ron was training with the Saints!

I just checked and the best he did was 5 in a season in 94/95. He only played about half the season tho so maybe people are talking about if you extrapolated to the entire season(?)

I'd be interested to keep Pulis. He seems to have promise, plus I believe he scored a good goal for the reserves last night. I can see him playing an important role in our next few seasons, now he is finally back from injury.
