Completely agree with you that's what we need. However the fact is we can't sign anyone until Jan 1st and so Cody is the man for us for the Cardiff and Everton games at the very least. We need to get right behind him and show him our full support. Here is spunky Cody tripping a Mexican after he scored past our man... Here is a video of Cody playing for Saints U-21s against Chelsea. I haven't seen it, but (SPOILER ALERT!) Saints win. Deano6 - Cody Cropper's no1 Fan!!!

Hi all, So I'm about done with all the negativity toward P!ss-Poor Gazzaniga and have decided to channel my energies into something more positive. So I have instead put together a package to introduce everyone to Southampton's new goalkeeper for the next couple of games... Ladies and Gentlemen, please will you give your warmest welcomes to Mr Cody Joseph Cropper! Age: 20 Height: 6'4 Wingspan: 6'5 Weight: 14st 5lbs Eyes: blue, dreamy Nationality: American, but eligible to play for England (and would prefer to) Cody was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and spent his early years there before moving north to Minnesota when his parents separated aged 10. He then spent his more formative years in the lovely Maple Grove suburb of the Minneapolis-St Paul metropolis. He is a fan of the Vikings (NFL) and Wild (Ice Hockey), even though he acknowledges they are both a bit rubs. He played basketball and swam at high school, and was also a very accomplished "soccer" player - which is American for "football". He actually started off as a striker and had both speed and a good touch, but then his growth spurt hit and he lost some of the pace and instead found his position between the sticks. Cody was obsessed with football, a craze his inherited from his English Dad - himself a local high school coach (this is American for sports teacher at a secondary school). The following is a short video where Cody will introduce himself to you. It was taken while he was training with American U-20 World Cup squad. In it he describes his footballing heroes - Stephen Gerrard, Frank Lampard and the Nintendo superstar brothers Mario and Luigi (2mins 20)... [video=youtube_share;LkwVQD9NPwo] I'm sure you'll all give your utmost support for the man who is spending Christmas 4,000 miles away from home, as he makes his debut in the Welsh wastelands of Cardiff this Thursday!! Don't forget, you can write your own messages of support at: @codycropper Signed, Deano6 - Cody Cropper's no1 Fan!!!
  4. Disagree with you. Can't say for sure Boruc would have saved either, but both genuine goalkeeping mistakes (as well as obviously defending mistakes to be there in the first place, but that's for another thread). Gazza was right in front of where we were sitting and so we got to see his actions up close. I was as surprised as Hooiveld that the ball ever got as far as is it did, Gazza made a right mess of a routine block. The third goal was a bit of a surprise but the ball came right in line with where I was sitting and even I made a move towards it instinctively before Gazza did. It hardly went right in the corner or anything ridiculous. Lovren turned round to give him hell but saw who it was and just gave a resigned sigh. I got round to watching the goals again on TV this morning. I thought they actually showed him in a good light. I think that's because you just assume that Premier League keepers have a basic level of competence so any shot / cross that beats them must have been just that much quicker than them. But in real time with your own eyes you can see just how terrible he is. All the discussion on the goals is rather missing the point also, as his worst mistakes weren't even those - not by a long shot. How Soldado didn't manage to convert a ball that landed just 3 yards off the goalline - yet still 2 yards away from where Gazza was standing - was pure luck alone. There were numorous other examples where we got away with it while Gazza was floundering. The one good save Gazza made when he smothered off Adebayor should have been a routine take for him on the edge of the area except he didn't advance off his line until the lucky 26,000th fan in the stand suggested he ought to. I have been in full support of the tactic of playing him for a few games while Boruc is out to give him a try, rather than waste tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds on a short term replacement - I even went as far as to say I wouldn't mind if this cost us a few points along the way to see how he is. But after Soldado's third near miss in a 5 min spell I lost it and went mental at him. He never seems to make a save, stays rooted to the spot and balls seem to travel right through him in a way that I have only ever seen in a glitch in FIFA 99. I'm nailing my colors* to the mast from this point on: Cody Cropper's no1 Fan, right here! *Yankee in-joke, yo!
  5. We finished 23rd in Championship (above Charlton). He is referring to the fact we started Lg 1 in 24th with minus 10 points.
  6. Why do I see no posts on this thread?
  7. Not for me. Just don't see the point being bent over a barrel for a player we'd only need for a couple of games. I'm with Adrians - give Gazza a try til Jan and find out if he's up to it. If he's not we can make a well-reasoned purchase in our own time before the start of next season. As has been pointed out not many top goalies transfer mid-way through a season. We're not really in that desperate a position - we are not fighting for our lives and Boruc will be back soon.
  8. Why not?
  9. Going by the names in the Daily Mail article, the three "ticks" are: Liam Walker - plays for CD San Roque (he was the Gibraltan superstar they picked up on their pre-season tour) Adam Webster - out on loan to Aldershot in the Conference Ashley Harris - has been out on loan to Havant & Waterlooville and Chelmsford this season. Can't figure out where he is now.
  10. Actually Turks takes it due to this vote... Unless one of them voted for SuperMikey.
  11. This'll get you halfway there Bears. I can't be arsed to tot up the duplicates.
  12. This guy is right. The way we're playing at the moment we'll be in League 1 in no time, so I agree we need to keep hold of all the players we had back then - they know how to get out of the division.
  13. What happened to Deppo also? He played in the 5-aside tourny a couple of years back, and was half-decent too for a bald fella! Wasn't there also a character called Ponty that was moderator?
  14. I believe we now have conclusively proof that the Pardew / Fonte's missus rumours we have all suspected for a while now are in fact true... In this important and tough game, we have decided to break up our stand out defensive partnership this season and instead bring in Hooiveld. Why? Because clearly Fonte doesn't want to be reminded of the traumatic episode he had to go through a few years ago, and his head wouldn't be in the right place. It's clearly why Lallana has been dropped too, sticking up for his old mate from back in the Pardew days. Disgusting the lengths Pardew would go to to try and disrupt our team at this crucial stage of the season, in my opinion.
  15. Well, there is one way...
  16. What's the trick to bypass your 3 per day then?
  17. Having a Bank Holiday for St George's Day would be a bad idea simply because it falls too close to Easter. This year is a particularly good example - you'd have Good Friday (18 April) off, then Easter Monday (21 April) - go back to work on 22nd - then have 23rd off for St George's Day. In 2011 it would have fallen on Easter Saturday - God knows what you'd do then! Keeping it 1 May leaves just enough of a gap to eliminate those complications.

  19. Whatever happened to Jack Stephens? He made his league debut for Plymouth back in Sept 2010 and was gonna be the next big thing.
  20. Nice little hug between Hart and Rickie on 9.30...awww! And who's that Dejan is swapping shirts with on 11.30? Kolarov?

    Harry Reed

Didn't he come on with around 1 min to go? Paul Scholes had a whole career! Far too early to make any comparisons.
  22. Big blow if we were to lose Cork now...
  23. Ummmm...people in violation of Health & Safety Laws are real criminals!
