Update on whiskey aging: I opened up the barrel to try a sample last night, being 6 weeks into the aging process, and found...there was absolutely nothing left. Not a drop! There was a very strong whiskey smell when I put my nose over the pouring hole, but not a trickle of liquid remained. I guess this is why you are supposed to fill it up to the top and not have it quarter full! I do now have some very Scotch-tasting wood available for sale if anyone is interested?

Ok Phil, we have gone very off topic here but I'll just pop in to remind the point that the Rooney Rule doesn't give the job to minorities, it only ensures at least one minority candidate gets an interview. Nobody (at all) is suggesting that the best candidate out of those considered shouldn't get the job. It really is a very benign policy.

Looks from the posts you quoted that it comes down to whether Morgan or JWP would be better suited at the role of advanced central midfielder. So really whether you prefer your shots to be hit hard and over the bar or curled tamely into the keeper's arms.

Not sure if your complaint is that it's a stupid idea to try to avoid getting in to Europe, or because 6th is already guaranteed the place (7th may also, given likely FA Cup destination). Either way I agree with you. However I'll stick up for NBC and say their coverage in general has been an unexpected delight over the last couple of years.

I disagree with your blanket view that positive discrimination is always wrong and should be avoided. In some cases I think it can be justified to help overcome an ingrained social prejudice, despite my inherent discomfort with the idea. But I respect your position on it. I think we all agree it would be better if measures like this were not necessary, although that doesn't make it so.
