See I can absolutely get behind this optimism, I want him to do well but we also went on a bit of a generational run to make that gap up. We did also start better under RM - BTW I do not want that bellend back either, this isn't what I am saying. Maybe it is - fair enough, but I don't think he's learned as much as he should've though. And I absolutely cannot abide this whinging (hyperbole a bit here) that he can't play anything other than 5 at the back because he doesn't have the personnel - you had preseason to figure that out - that's on you buddy. KWP - we had adequate backup for that position. Dibling - potential but not the finished article or guaranteed starter, Fernandes played every game except Watford. You're not being serious about Sulemana though, are you? I think his exclusions have been good agreed, however I would have been excluding Stephens from that list too even with hindsight in that he's actually turned out to be our best defenders so far. What I cannot get behind the most though is this chucking 4 games away (as I said on another thread) in the name of belligerence. We have not played well in a single same so far and we go into an absolute shitter of a fixture with no momentum now.

According to Fotmob he scored 11 in 23 league games - someone want to fact check them because I know FM can be wrong at times. IF that is correct, as I suspect it is on this occasion, its less than a goal every two. He isn't doing it again I don't reckon either.
-
It's middling though really isn't it. It's still only ever 11 goals in a full season and at a rate of less than a goal every 2 games even then. I dunno, it's one of them, I hope he comes good I just don't think players simply unlock something that they've never had. And he looks like a headless chicken most of the time - granted mostly in the prem.
-
Looked offside to me and on replay. Regardless, what else did he do? He's never been prolific before and I've seen nothing that makes me think he's suddenly going to become so. Both AA and Stewart have at least been so, if in small sample sizes in Stewart's case. It's actually more of a shame that we've got 4 to choose from, none of which are actually any good anymore/ever have been. I think Stewart + AA is a better option than Archer or AA leading the line.
-
I mean I agree, he's been an absolute liability. I'm basing it off what I've seen so far this season. I cannot watch another fucking moment of AA as a no 9, Archer is still hit and miss (great first half yesterday, offside liability second) and whilst Stewart's scoring stats do need to improve, so does the opportunity to do so. Downes looked great briefly in pre-season and more like a conference player since. It's not the best stable to pick from mind. Just IMO you get more out of AA on the left and one bigger man up front if our game plan is to cross it tons.
-
I actually think Stewart is our best bet (I know I've said it before). I'm unconvinced by Archer, and if we're looking for crosses into the middle, AA and Archer are weaker options I've also actually been impressed with Stewart's work with the ball when not in the box. Albeit in small cameos.

Again, not unreasonable but why is it always us? Why do we have to wait until this, that and the other. Why can't we find a way? I still think we're using fairly average excuses. It's a big gap already and we have started worse than under Russell
-
Is that unreasonable? He's been here all pre-season, appears to have learnt nothing from that time, and has now continued that on to vital games. We're already 7 points behind Boro.
-
I can be onboard with this, and I HAD nothing against him, but it's fucking boring being the team that gives up the first handful of games each season because of another excuse. And let's be clear, it's an excuse. He's been unimpressive so far. Let's see how he changes it, but we're below Pompey now. That's not a good look considering we've played pony in every single game so far
-
He has been awful so far though 😂
-
He's spouting bollocks then. I don't like Bazunu at all, but that was a foul all day long.
-
FFS why haven't we signed anyone in 15 minutes?
-
Aged like out of date milk 🤣
-
The Archer we bought is the same cart horse as the one on the pitch. He's another 'always been terd thus still is terd' which appears to be our transfer strategy.
-
Charles has been pretty good I think, but Downes is a shadow of the player who played for us last time we were in the championship. Also is Clinton Baptiste commentating on Sky? "Y'alright. I'm getting the word...."
-
He really is pony
-
That's that fucked then
-
It's almost like you can have a civil conversation on here. Who knew. Good summary that. 👏

Couldn't agree more. Creativity obviously is an issue but it's compounded by having a 4ft Gnome playing up front. I love AA on the left, he's great, but it's night and day with him playing there Vs no9
-
I don't understand why we've reverted to a 3 at the back having not done it in preseason though, I'd like to understand why we're suddenly doing it. I agree we looked shite in both formations but I think we looked marginally better in a 4 and less overrun in midfield. I also don't love a defensive line up when you're at home especially against Wrexham...(Or anyone really if we're meant to be league favourites). It's all a bit of a mess that Still hasn't sorted out despite a full pre season. And I think that's everyone's issue... That and fucking playing AA as a sole no 9
-
Got two, 1 yard, tap ins in his first two games, and fell over twice. He's never been a goal scorer and nothing to suggest he's suddenly going to become one. He's looking like a Carillo MK2. His service is dog shit, but I think Stewart, as awful as he is also, is probably the better bet. But fuck me it's a terrible field to choose from. I think if you play AA on the left with either of the two above you might get a better tune, but it's not gonna be enough so gotta hope you're getting goals from the rest of the squad 😬
-
I'm splitting hairs but that was the 5th game in. We were better in the games in the run up to that drawing 1 and winning 3. But that's besides my overriding point and that this is still shit football. And Still isn't helping himself.
-
He was on for two minutes 10 minutes and was absolutely the signing we didn't need. Again.
-
We looked better under him at the beginning of his stint than we do under this so called defensive artist.
