  1. Jack Dee does it better I think. Material usually pretty fresh too.
  2. There is a slight issue here however... Although you should, by all means, start eating an increased amount of protein between training sessions, having a tofu sandwich (I am being flippant but you get my drift) after a weight session is more likely to give you stomach ache and the effect it has on your muscles ability to repair (and grow) will be minimal compared to that of a shake. It is FACT that the best time to have the biggest influx of protein is within 10 mins of finishing a workout. Unfortunately protein takes longer to break down than any other food substance which is why solids aren't as good as fluids when trying to flood your muscles with protein and carbs so that they repair. However by mixing protein with water (or for a far better taste, milk) the body will easily start to absorb and repair the muscles quicker. You will get faster results this way, and go for a mix that has something with a little carb in it as well, it helps the body drive the protein into the muscles.
  3. Yep all true. I think it was Theo Papthitus that made the very same point on Dragons Den one episode. Probably one of the few times the designer didn't get torn a new one. Anyway I digress... You'll probably be suprised to know that Whey Protein is a bi-product of milk so it's suitable for vegetarians but not vegans. There is plenty of research if you google it but Maximuscle products (although quite pricey) are well respected, researched and reputable. I am pretty sure that you could find similar products for a lot less but personally when I am training I like to be confident in that which I am consuming.
  4. Yeah I agree with that. The rep argument is just that. The scientific consensus though is that to increase the muscle mass significantly you should work the muscle (and group) to fail, that is so you can't lift another rep. You should then not work the muscle or group significantly for at least 4 days...2 days isn't long enough if you are working the group to fail. It is, afteall, the resting that actually grows the muscle not the gym work per se. Also protein shakes/substitutes aren't just for the bodybuilders of the world, they are hugely beneficial to anyone looking to lose weight and or pack on muscle. Free weights are often considered more beneficial to machines as you get no help from them as oppossed to an assisted machine and you also have to rely on core stabililty to make sure you are doing the exercise correctly. This forces the body to work even harder per rep. Id like add that those saying running machines are not worth while I would have to disagree with. True, running in the elements is more strenous than running in a controlled environment and as an exercise provides far more gains physiologically but there are reasons why a treadmill is it's equal: 1. The average (and not so average) persons biggest problem with exercise is concentration, motivation and dedication. It is scientifically proven that those with access to a TV are more motivated to train, to train well and to train for longer. The stimulation provided by moving pictures and sounds allow the person to remain entertained whilst doing something they often would rather not...greater than that of a mp3 or anything else. Thus having said piece of equpiment in your lounge for example is a great way for the average person to stay fit. 2. The stress and strains placed on muscles and joints is significantly decreased from that of road running versus a treadmill. As such they help maintain motivation and in turn people are more likely to go back training the next day as oppossed to nursing sore muscles and injuries.
  5. So very occasionally that it's barely worth mentioning. In fact people are more likely to be affected by their environment rather than by their 'genes'. It is indeed documented that offspring from those who genuinely do have genetic reasons for obesity, ie in their genes, can actually lose weight and keep it off, with...yep you guessed, diet and exercise. So the fact that the daughters are overweight is probably due to their nurture as opposed to there nature as the argument goes.... So to summise...At least three of these four are simply fat, lazy c****, who should get off their f*****g overweight backsides, and earn some money. Cut their funding and find them jobs that makes them do something that is physically exerting. Scrounging c****.
  6. Same reply goes to you....
  7. UHHHH RIGHT! You need to be telling me how you are managing to listen to matches and you need to be telling me RIGHT now Mister. Seriously, I am in the same boat as you...well almost. You can listen to games...I don't seem to be able too. Any idea?
  8. Yep I am with you on this one. The next two are incredibly important. A win at Blackpool could well see us out of the relegation zone and a win at Charlton could actually see us with a tiny amount of breathing space given who Norwich, Notts Forest, Barnsley and Blackpool have to play...we HAVE to win though. It's imperative. Equally we never ******* win at Watford even with the news that Rasiak is out.
  9. Ok my take on the whole thing; I said from the start that beating Barrera actually proved nothing. The Mexican is a blown up featherweight and looked as much. He wasn't as cut (physically not the cut on his head) as if he would have been fighting at Featherweight...i.e his natural weight. He is also a little over the hill now, and should have stayed a retired hall of famer, with his last 5 fights being less than impressive (having lossed 3 of them). And although dangerous Khan should have still taken him. THAT SAID...In the interest of balance: Khan looked sharp. His hand speed, head and lateral movement and his 'in-out' combos were better than they ever have been. His hands were coming straight back to his jaw and none of this Nazeem poncy, low hand, showboating was on parade. Freddie Roach has done a very good job and once again got the tactics and timing spot on. VERDICT: Khan did look good BUT the fight was over the moment the heads clashed. He didn't go in there expecting to win and to his credit worked for it and stuck to his game plan. That said I still feel there are 7 or 8 guys in this division still that would beat Khan outright.....
  10. Ahhh tell me about it. Seriously, if I want to look at 'anal sluts doing it hard' no worries, password in seconds. If I want to get updates on a football match that is being broadcast on free radio (but not as it seems on the internet version - what the **** is up with that), I could get tickets too (if in the country) and isn't a national security secret, such as Roswell, area 51 etc, then noooooo. No ****ing chance there chap. You have to be within 20 metres of the ground or there's no hope.
  11. This sounds fab....Is it is good as you guys are making out? Whats the deal with it anyway? Will it eat away of what is left of my summer evenings here in Oz?
  12. Steve, not sure about the Twitter thing. I like the concept in principle especially for me out here, when I can't get a radio link...Seriously does no one have a communal Matchconsole password the'yd be willing to share...I had one, once upon a time. Anyway, I found that the updates were less frequent and less descriptive even compared to that of the OS. In addition I found that most of the time I had to press refresh to get said updates anyway. So where I think it could work in principle, the lack of continuous (or close to) updates and having to contantly refresh myself would put me off using it until said 'issues' were ironed out.
  13. Seconded
  14. Riiiight I'll start - Nice one Steve and all...BUt nothing beats a radio link...So for us out here in Oz who are up at 6.45 to listen to the game...Any chance????
  15. ****ing **** of the highest ****ing order. There are no words as to how much of a **** I think this guy is. And had the audacity to call Chris Martin a "****** and cretin" and "disfunctional"...Can't say I completely disagree but no more so than king **** himself. Hypocritical.
  16. My favourite ever driver by so far, in my fave car, in my fave year. This guy was 'win at all costs' and yet such a sublime driver. Sooooo badly missed throughout the late 90s IMO.
  17. As we all know stats very rarely tell the full story. Though what you could deduce from that is that any time he has been given lengthy appearances (and I'm not talking the 2 min ones that he's got here and at Watford) he averages 1 goal every 2 games. That IS a good strike rate. 66 (34) 41 (18) and 62 (24) That last stat being at Southampton where I suspect 15+ were those ****ing annoying 5 min spells Burley use to give to random substitutes at random times to improve a grand total of **** all. Don't get me wrong I don't think Rasiak is Ronaldo (the Brasilian - not the Portuguese tit) but he does what he does. Fully agree with St Stevo post, the hype now surrounding a rejuvenated Euell is quite frankly humerous.
  18. His time at Watford has been nearly as poorly managed as it was here. That said the same could be attributed to Euell. But at the end of the day Rasiak has proven season after season that it's not a fluke...He put's the spherical object into the big netty thing time after time...And I am really not sure where this impression of Euell being a workhorse has come from less the last three games. Good god I hope it continues and I thought he was a good signing when we got him but he's hardly done sod all since getting here.
  19. Do they count any less? At the end of the day points win prizes and Euell's points tally does not equal Rasiaks points tally by a long shot. Still love the goal and celebration from Rasiak in the play offs as well.
  20. Rasiak. Ball in net wins games and I don't care if they all come off his arse. Lets not forget that for the most part (recent form aside) Euell has been useless hence him affectionately being re-named MEuell.
  21. Well... I meant more specifically when you don't choose to make comments like 'playing Gary Glitter in the family end' (which I nearly ****ed myself with laughter at) or hammer Pearson for keeping us up (which I didn't come anywhere near ****ing myself about) then you often make good and valid arguments to the topic of conversation. Such is the case on this thread and as such I agree with your opinion. Secondly I may have gotten this wrong but I think I have met you, through Bungle, in the Alfred before a game on a couple of occasions. If I am wrong, um, sorry. Does this help with your flumaxation? (I realise I made that word up)
  22. I had no idea how awful are fixture list was this month...If I had seen that two weeks ago when one of the many 'will we stay up/go down' threads were started I would have said no chance. Still I said yes and sticking with yes BUT I think we will need three points again here. Ipswich 1 - 2 Saints. Simply has to be a win.
  23. Ok I've just re-read some of your comments and I don't completely agree...Just mostly lol
  24. Why do you play the idiot so much when clearly you're not? BTW we've met so this was far from a personal attack, I was just curious. For the record I have agreed with your assesement on this thread through and through.
  25. Sure it would. Perfectly legal. I still recall it being rumoured that it would be legal if a fan managed to get onto the pitch and score. Though I can't remember if that was a ridiculous bar conversation or said by anyone with even the slightest knowledge of football. My money is on the former but you never know, it's out there for debate now.
