  1. Well i wish it was £10 Dune, but i guess it could have been worse.
  2. From what ive read from Shrewsbury fans, they are fed up with their club trying to rip them off and fair play to them.Shrewsbury fans seem a decent lot and only want to support their team without getting ripped off. Saints, fair enough objected to the higher prices and went to the FA.Result is the FA sided with us,so both sets of fans are happy. Now lets concentrate on the forthcoming match.
  3. I think it boils down to the way both clubs acted when the money started to dry up. Saints immediately sold, offloaded their best players and played a reserve team to try and balance the books. In fact if it wasnt for Leon Crouch,we may have gone altogether. Pompey on the other hand carried on as normal, even continuing to sign players when they knew they had no money left. Then when faced with a massive tax bill, they argued and cheated their way out of it. The fact that we tried to do the right thing and Pompey didnt,is what winds a lot of people up.
  4. Cue lots of headlines in the papers tomorrow........."He inks its all over,it is now".
  5. The BBC did a survey before the last general election and all the Labour voters thought they were biased towards the Tories and the Tory voters thought they were biased towards Labour. I dont know what the Lib Dems thought, they probably just agreed with everyone. So i guess you cant please everyone all the time.
  6. Yeah i know what you mean Latter day saint. Not only are my shins skinless,my voice is sore because of shouting abuse at that ref.
  7. Reading that link certainly puts things into perspective. I have visited the old Somme battlefields and its a sad, humbling experience. Football today has gone totally mad.
  8. Agree with all of the above.
  9. I do drink in the Alfred sometimes, but i have not said anything like that.Like most people i dont know the reason why Pardew left and to be honest,i think thats old news now. If you see me come and say hello. Its always nice to put a face to a name.
  10. So the million jobs that the condem government are losing will be taken up by the private sector? Dont think so. In the real world there will be a lot more people on the dole because of this government, than there was before.
  11. SSN has just said Pompey are 24 hours away from going bust. Looks like it may actually happen this time.
  12. Another point i think is worth making ,is in my view Maggie was a strong character who polorized opinions. You either love her or you hate her. There seems to be no middle ground where shes concerned. As for Blair and the rest of his mob, although i think history will judge them poorly, they dont seem to generate so much debate.
  13. No i wont celebrate their deaths because i dont hate them as much as i do Thatcher. Half our our problems today can be traced to Thatchers years of selling off every industry we had.Car,steel, coal, railways, free school milk, parts of the NHS ,i could go on.Then most of Maggies cabinet took highly paid jobs in these newly privatised industries. It has been said that because of Thatcher, people in Britain became more selfish and greedy. Now when the annual recession comes around,Britain has no assets left to generate any money. Hope you are not so confused now.
  14. Johnny you and Delldays make some valid points. I was totally against the Iraq war(even went on the BBC news to say so)and i think Blair let the country down badly. As for Prescott,he may have been a union man once, but as deputy PM,he lived the high life(two jags),while telling us to draw in our belts. Both these people betrayed the Labour party. But what Blair and Prescott did(and a few others),was no different to what the Tory party do on a regular basis,ie stab each other in the back and feather their own nest. And to answer Delldays point about the booksignings,i think the amount of people protesting at the signings would be about the same.
  15. Blair was not a socialist. He was one of the worst PMs we have had since Maggie. He wrongly took this country to war and since he has left office, has done nothing but make more money for himself. As for Thatcher ,Thatcherism only ever looked after the rich and gave nothing to the poorer people in society.Even today there are still vast areas of the North that have never recovered because of her selfish, industry breaking policies. In fact she was so unpopular before the Falklands, people rioted in the streets, the economy was in a mess and even she ,herself didnt think she would win the next election. And lets not forget the Tory party became so disillusioned with her, that in the end, they threw her out of office. So this myth that she was one of the best PMs we have ever had is exactly that.......a myth.
  16. Already booked my place for that one badger.
  17. Anyone who stays at home, with no intention of working ,makes me mad because i have worked all my life and i have always tried to do the right thing. But the thing i hate most is those really well off people and the super rich who avoid at all costs the taxes they owe, thus depriving the government of much needed tax.Although you never seem to hear about these super rich tax dodgers because half the Tory party seem to be friends with people like these. To me its the same old Tories looking after the rich.
  18. We have the resources, the interstructure and the players. Not sure about the willpower ,or the manager yet. Suppose all we can do is to wait and see.
  19. Surely you are used to the refs and linesmen making bad decisions in this league? Its just another reason we need to get out of League one asap.
  20. Its the town end.Just turn right by the Chapel Arms roundabout (if heading towards the stadium),then follow the road under the bridge and i think its the second turning on your left.
  21. Try the car park where the floating bridge used to go. Its a small walk to the stadium, but after the game,by the time you have gone back to your car,a lot of the traffic has gone. Then it a case of straght over the Itchen bridge and away.
  22. The test will be how we respond next week.Hopefully we can learn from our mistakes.
  23. If you are walking around Bath, then a word of caution.Watch out for the pigeons. There are millions of them flying around and the last time i was there, one went and did a pigeon bomb all over the nice black shirt i was wearing. I was less than amused, although my wife couldnt stop laughing.
  24. When my son was a lot younger,he wrote a letter to our local MP Alan Whitehead, saying he was against hunting and seeing the bill was up for debate, would he vote against it? Mr Whitehead not only voted against it,he also invited us to go up to the House of Parliment to show us around. What a great day that was.We were taken to all the parts the public are not allowed to go.For instance, theres a church below where Haig was married and right in the middle of the Parliment building is the original 12th century hall, where it all began. We had tea within earshot of a lot of famous MPs and we went to Prime ministers question time. So if you want a cheap day out, write to your MP! Also try one of those purple tourist tour buses.Thet are a tad pricey, but well worth it as they take you to all the interesting places in London.
